Wake Forest Animal Hospital

Wake Forest, North Carolina
General Info
Wake Forest Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary hospital providing pet exams, vaccinations, pet surgery, grooming and pet emergency care. With a experienced and friendly staff our office will make you and your pet feel welcome and confident in our veterinary services. We offer pet care for the communities of North Raleigh, Wake Forest, Louisburg, Wakefield, Franklinton, Henderson, Youngsville, Oxford, Lake Gaston, Kerr Lake & Creedmoor NC.
We’ve taken steps to make our pet patrons more comfortable. Cat nerves are kept a little calmer in our separate cat ward, away from loud, barking dogs. We know that an unhappy cat makes for an unhappy owner.
The pooches appreciate our covered outdoor exercise area. Rain or shine, they can get some exercise and expend some of that energy.
But it’s more than the surroundings that make our hospital comfortable, it’s the people. Our staff is comprised of true animal lovers, and your pet is the better for it. They’ll receive the kind of attention that they’re used to at home. Ask any of our clients, everyone at Wake Forest Animal Hospital has an excellent bedside manner.
Everyone at Wake Forest Animal Hospital loves what they do and it shows. You and your pet will leave with a smile (they can smile; we've seen them!).

Dr.Manning has been my vet for many years and never had issues until now.Last Thursday my 10 year old Yorkie Abby was not herself my husband took her in and they kept her for a few hours. Ran xrays, bloodwork and confirmed all tests came back showing nothing major wrong. My husband picked her up a few hours later (11:00ish) and he was informed they gave her a 10 day antibiotic with something under her skin for dehydration and we were not to give her food or water the rest of the day.6:43pm Thursday night my Abby died in my arms. When I took her up there to be cremated I signed form to get a paw print back with her ashes. When I went to pick up ashes today there is NO paw print...We are not only devastated about losing our precious Abby now we don't even have the paw print we asked for that was Abbey's.How does a dog that the vet cannot see anything obvious from the tests wrong just die?Signed,Broken hearted Read Less

I used to go here. I like a couple of the vets but when my geriatric cat had to have teeth removed & wasn't doing well, it was a pretty new vet that handled it. She did a lot of talking & very little listening. I called several times because he was weak & wasn't eating(or drinking much). Each time I was told "that what you should expect having 6 teeth removed." She never had me bring him back in, never suggested giving him fluids or anything. A couple of weeks later he died & I am certain it was due in part to dehydration. I kick myself still for not being a strong advocate. I feel like I let him down. Now I go to Rolesville Veternarian Hospital & the first thing the do for a sick animal is fluids. They say it can't hurt & can definitely help. Their prices are reasonable too. By WF hospital I was quoted close to $1000 to have a tumour removed from my dogs eye lid. Rolesville charged half the price but with better care. I just don't get the hype for this place. Read Less

I am always nervous about trying new vets because I've got 3 dogs with behavioral issues. However, I had a wonderful experience at Wake Forest Animal Hospital! My grumpiest dog reacted wonderfully to their care, they handled him beautifully, and the whole experience was amazingly stress free! Furthermore I was greeted with smiles and kind words from everyone I encountered. The staff is also incredibly swift to respond to emergencies, and flexible and willing to help however they can. I will be going back this week for a checkup on one of my other pets and I'm actually looking forward to the visit! Thanks so much for all you do, I'm so grateful to have found this office! Dr. Manning and the staff are all so wonderful. We have been taking our pup here since we got her, and this is the place to be! We recently had her spayed and the staff was so comforting - they could tell that I was nervous to leave her and they really made me feel like she was in good hands. They even kept her for two full days as I had to work a full day after her spay, which really helped me out. When I picked her up, they took me into an exam room to keep Maggie calm (after I paid, which was nice so I didn’t have to deal with that while I had Maggie with me). When she came in, they were all so sweet to her and I could tell she really felt safe and content there with the staff and Dr. Manning. The vet tech was so knowledgeable and really made me feel comfortable taking Maggie home - I left without any questions because she was so thorough. We love y’all, thank you for taking care of our girl! Additionally - the negative reviews being posted here are not consistent with the morals and level of service of this practice. Dr. Manning and staff are warm and knowledgeable, delivering an outstanding service that I am happy to bring my Maggie to - she loves coming here! Read Less

Suddenly I got real sleepy and must've passed out or something. When I woke up, my teeth were all clean, I had a nice little pedicure, and my little face had been washed! I've been bringing my pup here for almost two years, and have had great experiences each time.  We've always seen Dr. Manning, and he has always provided quality care for my dog and always makes me feel at ease no matter what my concerns are.  He's very knowledgeable, kind and understanding.  I've always been able to get an appointment quickly, and one thing I really appreciate is the fact that they get you back into a room almost instantly once you arrive!  It's nice they don't make you wait in the lobby for a long time (coming from someone who's dog likes to bark loudly when he sees other dogs, haha).  The checkout process is equally as fast.  All of the staff is very kind and friendly... if you're looking for a vet in Wake Forest, I couldn't recommend the doctors/staff at Wake Forest Animal Hospital enough! Loved this vet!  Fast service, friendly service, competent staff.  We were checked in quickly and were taken back to a private exam room almost immediately.  This was wonderful, because my 60lb and very strong dog gets really excited and hyper when he is around any other dogs.  So not having to sit in a waiting room with 10 other dogs while my dog is howling and trying to pull me around the room to visit (and maybe even pick a fight with) other dogs, which has been the case at every other vet I've been to, was a huge perk. The vet was very nice and asked a lot of questions to get to know my dog.  I could tell she loves animals by the the way she treated us and spoke to us.  All of the staff members were very nice, even the lab workers. And the pricing was also very reasonable.  Actually, it was almost $100 cheaper here than another place I got a price quote from for the same services. Wake Forest Animal Hospital is by far the best veterinary experience weve had in our dogs entire 9.5 year life! The sedation grooming process was significantly faster and easier on the dog than anywhere else weve ever been. Everyone was wonderful. We would never think of taking Shiloh anywhere else! We got Shiloh when he was 1.5 years old. He had been abused and could not even be petted on the head. He has what is called fear aggression, meaning he gets aggressive when afraid. We cannot groom him ourselves due to his fear of objects coming near him, especially noisy hair trimmers. As a result, Shiloh has always required sedation grooming. In the past, we have had some very bad experiences with over-sedation by a Youngsville NC veterinary hospital. So much so that on one occasion, Shiloh was unable to jump down out of the car and the next morning had to be coaxed with food and still had trouble exiting the car. And that was after dropping him off at 8 am and picking him up at 5 pm. When we went to Wake Forest Animal Hospital, we were able to meet with Dr. Manning ahead of time to share our concerns. He worked with us to arrange a way for us to drop off Shiloh later in the morning, closer to the actual grooming time, which was a huge help in alleviating Shilohs anxiety. After our meeting, we understood why Dr. Manning had been so highly recommended. We dropped Shiloh off at 10 am and had no sooner gotten home and had a cup of coffee than Wake Forest Animal Hospital called at 10:40 am to say Shiloh was ready for pick up. We were amazed at the short time frame! When we arrived, Shiloh was awake and alert and had no trouble getting into or out of the car. We were ecstatic! At Wake Forest Animal Hospital, the Vet Tech told us Dr. Mullin determined that Shiloh required less sedation and that Shiloh was calm and awake throughout the entire grooming process. The Vet Tech said the staff and groomer were all calm, so Shiloh was calm. In retrospect, we think that Wake Forest Animal Hospitals name even conveys that they are focused on the animals, as opposed to other clinics who refer to themselves as Veterinary Hospitals. We wish we had known about Wake Forest Animal Hospital sooner. Read Less

As a vet tech at 4 other hospitals i can honestly say that Wake Forest has some of the best doctors. We ended up there due to a cat with chronic health problems that could not be helped by the other hospital i worked at once there the knowledgeable doctors found not only the cause but a solution. I have sent dogs and kitties to this wonderful vet for over twenty years. I really appreciate Dr. Manning's down-to-earth candor. The first time I ever saw him, he said, "Well, I could prescribe for your dog an expensive drug, or you can just give him half a Benadryl." I have been loyal ever since. Also, three years ago one of my "babies" had severe anemia -- ate a raw onion, beware those things -- anyway, he would have died, but because of Dr. Mullen's care ... WF Animal Hospital is by far the best vet I have ever taken my pup to.  Before my husband and I moved to WF from Fayetteville, we had the worst experience at our vet there.  I was hesitant and careful with choosing a new vet in the triangle area.  I had read reviews and doctor bios about WF Animal Hospital which ultimately was the deciding factor for me.  At Rhett's (my dog) first visit I was blown away with the compassion that he was shown by the entire staff at this office.  Rhett has a history of bladder stones which our previous vet could never find a solution to.  They kept wanting us to come back every week for blood work - but not WFAH.  Dr. Bennett was dead set on finding what was causing these things and finding a solution.  That's really all I had wanted.  Now, after 2 surgeries and finding the right dog food for my little guy I am happy to say he is healthy as a horse.  I would highly recommend WFAH to anyone in this area looking for a vet.  I am partial to Dr. Bennett but Rhett has seen all the docs there and they are all great. Not happy with the care. My boxer, Laila unfortunately swallowed another object. This time it was a bone, according to Dr Darch at the North Wake animal clinic in Wake Forest, an irregular shape about 3 inches long. He removed it manually from her anus. Before she went to Dr Darch, I took her to Wake Forest Animal Hospital expecting to see Dr Manning, however, was passed over to Dr Bennett, because he was conferring with a vendor. I got over that, because she was being seen by a professional regardless. They x-rayed Laila only to have an inconclusive finding! They suggested she get a barium swallow to highlight any objects in the intestines-another $300! Then blood tests should have revealed a possibility of Addisons' disease, only they didn't test for it and I would have to pay another $100 or so.  This requires another blood test of some sort. Then she could be put on steroids, just in case, it was a hormonal issue. Another $100 or less...I just didn't feel right with this vet. The receptionists were pretty nice and professional. They took her in immediately, but I was disappointed with the lack of knowledge on the vets behalf. I'm still wondering how the huge bone in her intestines could have been overlooked after the x-ray?? Fishy. The remaining care handled by Dr Darch with pills, blood tests, bone removal, shots, after care for about 3-4 days (he called)-total cost = $156. Read Less

We went to this hospital b/c it was very close to where we were living when we moved here 2 years ago. We adopted a rare breed of dog that was on thyroid medicine. I wanted to get established with him to get his med's when needed. I can't say for sure if it was judgement or lack of experience on the DVM's part, but she only ran a thyroid test when I would have been able to afford the big blood panel since he was new to me. That was never suggested, she ran the one test and we were done. A DVM ran into me at our apartment complex and because of the rare breed she started asking questions. She could see just by looking at my dog that he had a much more serious disease and said I should really test for Cushings. I went to a recommended vet hospital with many DVM's who called it from appearance. After many expensive test's (which we had no problem paying for) our boy was very Cushionoid. I wish they would have seen this too because I could have started treatment much sooner. I will never forget this because we have since lost him. I was amazed at how many other DVM's could see this just by looking at him and how this hospital did not. They missed a big opportunity b/c we spent thousands and didn't bat an eye lash.... and it just shows the basic level they run on. Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

When we moved here in 2005 every time we asked someone who their vet was the answer was always Dr. Manning.  We have taken both our dogs Annie and Jenny to Dr. Manning for 10 years. We lost our Jenny dog and they were so caring when her time came. They told us about "Saving Grace" where we rescued our wonderful Molly dog.The staff is always friendly and professional. I believe a happy staff is a reflection of good management.  We have also seen Dr. Mullins and the dogs love her. They have a fast and friendly caring Animal Hospital. We appreciated Dr. Bennett calling us as soon as she finished cleaning Molly's teeth to tell me how she was doing and when we could pick her up later in the day. Read Less

Dr Manning and his staff saved our dog Jake's life.We moved to Wake Forest in June 2013. Within 2 weeks of moving to the area Jake got very sick and started having liver failure. We took Jake to an emergency vet and they kept him overnight and released him. He still was not doing well so I started looking for a good vet in the area and stumbled upon Wake Forest Animal Hospital. They got Jake in right away and started treatment. Jake stayed there for about 5 days. His condition was very touch and go.Dr. Manning and staff continued to work with Jake and were very compassionate to us as we were devastated.    I can not say enough about my experience with Wake Forest Animal Hospital. Jake is now 10 years old and healthy. Thank you Dr. Manning and staff for not giving up on Jake! Read Less

Read Less

His approach is outstanding; he will not do unnecessary testing! The office is pleasant, clean, and you are never locked into a teeny room. There is always a door open (dutch) in case you need anything. They are flexible with emergencies and are just genuinely happy to see you! Great practice. I highly recommend it! Read Less

As a vet tech at 4 other hospitals i can honestly say that Wake Forest has some of the best doctors. We ended up there due to a cat with chronic health problems that could not be helped by the other hospital i worked at once there the knowledgeable doctors found not only the cause but a solution. I have a total of 10 pets and we have seen all of the doctors there.

Read Less
