I cannot say enough great things about the Waxhaw animal hospital and its staff at the front desk along with the doctors and technicians that take care of my five yes I said five dogs that come here. Well not the cheapest place you can go to get animal care I definitely feel that they are the most caring and knowledgeable about animal medicine that there is in the area. As we all love our pets so deeply just like our children having a place that you can trust and rely on is key the staff here never makes me feel rushed or like I am not important and that is a plus for me and all of my fur babies. My cat got in a fight with another animal and had to have surgery. I took him to Waxhaw Animal Hospital in a cat crate and they DID NOT lock the the door on it when my mother pick him up. That afternoon she called me frantically saying the door swung open and the cat escape into the Woods. I had to drive back from Raleigh on the phone the whole time with her and the people inside the vets office. Initially they gave me it's not our problem until I threatened legal action only then did they have someone out to help look and call animal control. When I arrive the people from inside the vets office had gave up leaving the search to my mother/Animal Control. We stayed out there till dark with no sign of him. That night I drove back up around midnight and placed a can of cat food out there in case he got hungry. The following day I went out there again calling and looking for him with no help whatsoever from the vets office. I ended up getting lucky around midnight the second day when I placed another can of cat food out, he came limping out of the woods with one of his stitches busted and drain tube hanging out. I picked him up and put him in his carrier, the same one he was dropped off in and the door locked with no problem. I took him to Faulkners in Lancaster the following morning to have him check out and they had to repair a small amount of damage that he done in the Woods. Read Less

I took my cat to be seen for a bladder infection. They stated it was best to put him down. My daughter was screaming crying. They stated the cat could be cremated and picked up in a week. I had the cat cremated. I went in a week later and they stated it wasn't back yet. I called today, 3/27 and the receptionist stated i paid for "Cremation NO RETURN", meaning i would not get the ashes they told my 11 year old we would receive. No remorse for this at all. All i got was "Im sorry. This is what you paid for on the receipt....so" I will not be going back to this place. Did not offer a refund on their mistake. No "Im sorry this happened". NOTHING! Not happy at all. We have a had our pets with Waxhaw Animal Hospital for about a year. The veterinarians are great, but the office as a whole is terrible. We have had several incidences with office staff and boarding where phone calls are never returned. We had an emergent situation with our chocolate lab and called 3 times and left 3 message in one day and never received a call back. We had to seek treatment elsewhere, which is crazy because they are our vet!!! Also, they require that you bring your pets in every 6 months for visits, which is crazy. I don't even take my children to the doctor that much. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats and I don't have the time, energy or money to haul them into the vet every 6 months. We are switching veterinarians. So frustrated with this clinic! They rarely if ever return phone calls and if they do its at the end of the day and too late to act on if you're trying to fill a prescription. You can count on waiting a minimum of 30 minutes to get back to a room for your appointment. They are never on time. Unbelievable!, How much the staff members could care less about the patient/owners circumstances regarding emergent needs. Rimadyl Waxhaw Animal - $104.00. Rimadyl Petmeds - $85. Who wouldn't switch to a provider this much less that overnight delivers to your door? They held my animals treatment/prescription hostage in order to turn a nice profit on drugs. Greedy crooks, the owners of this place. They were unwilling to fax a prescription toll free to Petmeds. Unable to take a phone call from pet meds. Unwilling to email the prescription to me so that I could forward to Petmeds. And unwilling to call me themselves to discuss. My only option was to load my four young children into the van and truck 25/30 minutes up Providence road at rush hour to either pay the more expensive price or pick up my hand written prescription. They offered no price match option and were completely unwilling to work with me or sympathize with my needs or my arthritic 12 year old Golden retriever, who is a sweetheart by the way and deserves none of this. #SWITCHINGCLINICS. What's unfortunate is the physicians have really been very kind to my pet. They have been quite good. I brought my sugar glider here after being on the phone with places for hours. They where so sweet and very hands on. They made me feel wonderful and they knew exactly what to do with my baby. Even tho it was over a 2hr drive. It was well worth it. Read Less

All my furbabies love coming to this office! The doctors, nurses, technicians and staff are top notch. They have always been able to accommodate our schedules and are receptive to our feedback and wishes. They are caring as well as informative. We also board here when necessary because we know the babies will be taken care of and as happy as they can be away from home. Read Less

Thank you for the excellent care you gave Jake. We called on a Saturday morning of Memorial Day weekend after we thought he ate a large ball and WAH was able to see us within 15 minutes to take an xray.
