I have a dog I was fostering to adopt that was being treated at Paws and Claws. Part of the adoption included a dental cleaning. This was to be paid by the rescue organization. Upon initial exam I was told the dog would need two teeth pulled at the time of the dental cleaning. This turned into 6 teeth being pulled and the rescue organization was charged over $700 for the work!! I was appalled at this. Really, Paws and Claws, you had to charge a rescue organization that kind of money. Needless to say, now that I've officially adopted the dog, she is going to my regular vet who does not rip off rescue organizations. Read Less

My family recently had to put down our beloved cat and Paws and Claws went above and beyond to support us. Her health had been steadily declining in the past year and Dr. McGrann was always very gentle and sweet with her - helping us decide what medications and testing we needed to do to improve her condition and keep her comfortable. On the day we realized she was suffering a great deal, Paws and Claws worked us in very quickly and Dr. Smith and the rest of the staff treated us with such kindness. They even sent us a sympathy card hand signed by all the staff. Read Less

I started going to Paws and Claws because I needed a place that could treat my hedgehog and my fur babies. I travel 45 min to go here. Unfortunately two weeks ago my hedgehog became terminally ill and had to be put to sleep. The Vet and staff were very compassionate and got me in as soon as possible so my lil guy didn’t have to suffer long. Last week I got a sympathy card with a handwritten notes from each staff member and it meant so much to me! They have also been great with helping me resolve digestive issues with my rescue dog, who nearly died of starvation before rescue and is a hot mess. I wish that they were more holistic in approach, but at least they are well researched on the latest medicines and testing. Read Less

I am always reticent about trying a new vet for my lilac-crowned Amazon parrot. I had been to three other vets before trying Dr. Anderson. Not only is Dr. Anderson a gentle, kind animal handler/(whisperer), he is a brilliant diagnostician. Dr. Anderson decided against running up a large bill for me doing, what he considered, unnecessary blood work. Rather, he acutely examined my parrot, as no other vet had done before, and drew some conclusions based on his observations.I was provided with antibiotic drops for Bert's eyes and nose, oral antibiotic medication with a syringe, and a recommendation to use a Nebulizer with my parrot. I can already see, after just a few days, a major change in the way my parrot looks. Dr. Anderson's diagnosis of sinusitis must have been correct because Bert's nostrils look more clear, her eyes are opening wider, and she seems happier. The best part about the visit was that it didn't cost an arm and a leg, as most vets will charge. It was very affordable, and I didn't didn't hesitate to book a return visit appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Anderson. Read Less

Let me first off say i was recommended to come here by a wild life rescue, and the staff i talled too was nice. Unfortunately to say I did not have the best experience here, I came in with my sugar glider who had an erection for 2 days, after monitoring it and treating it with coconut oil, I decided on doing online research and going through all the resources I had with no positive results. I gave paws and claws a call because I could tell my normally sweet loving happy sugar glider was in extreme pain and discomfort he would even pull on it which made me worry he might do injury. I spoke with the receptionist and asked if they ever seen this before he told me no, and that they will have to place it back in so it can heal back. I double checked that the vet I was seeing was familiar with sugar gliders and he advised that the doctor was. I made the appointment and came in 2 hours later. After they took Henny out of the room I was sitting in shortly the vet came in with him. She told me she was not familiar with sugar gliders and that she had to call her other vet to get advise (who mind you was not there and did not see the problem at hand), and he told her it was normal. She also printed me out a bunch of papers on how to take care of sugar glider as if I don't know how to take care of the 3 that I have (the paper included what type of cage they need, what they eat, change their water daily, ect *obviously things you would know*) which honestly offended me because I am very educated in sugar gliders. Like I don't know how to take care of my animals or something. I know that a red rocket is normal but one after 2 days that is obviously causing pain is not normal. So anyways she gave me this paper and told me "sugar gliders are hard to take care of here, read this paper it's how to take care of them" and then said it's normal for it to be hanging but if he starts to self mutilate then be worried. I told her once again that he was already pulling and biting on it so why would I keep an eye on it if he is already doing it, she shrugged her shoulders and said I don't know, so I asked so basically if he does the same thing he is doing come back in and she said" yes just keep an eye on it here is some lube for him if you want it" I asked if it was for gliders and she told me no its like KY. And then she left. I then went to the front desk and paid $50 for a 3 minute conversation and for her to tell me what he is doing is gonna hurt himself so just keep an eye on it for it to get worse then we will do something. Highly dissatisfied and disappointed with that vet.Read Less

I have a dog I was fostering to adopt that was being treated at Paws and Claws. Part of the adoption included a dental cleaning. This was to be paid by the rescue organization. Upon initial exam I was told the dog would need two teeth pulled at the time of the dental cleaning.

He was very gentle, thorough, and knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything to me.The hospital also gave me a follow-up call to check on her progress, and allowed me to leave a message for the vet to call me back when I had a concern but didn't want to bring her in.
