Dr. Lennox is my favorite! She's always so caring and, gentle & genuine. If there is ever a condition or treatment, etc. that she's unfamiliar with (which is rare, but things change every day in medicine) she will tell me she needs to research a bit more and get back to me ASAP. To me, that's a great veterinarian and those are really hard to find - especially for exotics. Read Less

Dr. Layton and his staff are kind, caring individuals.  However, after having many animals treated at their hospital over ten years, I have several complaints.  The first one is that I asked Dr. Layton several times over two years if there was something wrong with my Lab puppy. He had fallen down a flight of stairs when he was six months old and was limping.  We finally found out that he needed surgery on his leg that was done by the emergency clinic in town.  This was after Dr Layton said there was nothing wrong.Secondly,  he suggested expensive laser treatments on my arthritic 11 and a half year old Lab's badly crippled legs.  It didn't work and we had to put the dog down.Third, he removed fatty tumors from my other 10 year old Lab.  He did well with the surgery.  However, we had complained that the dog wasn't eating well and coughing loudly before the surgery.  He checked him out and said "his heart is fine".  Three months later we just put our dog down after the ER found that he has severe lymphoma and a high temp.  Why wasn't this discovered before we did the surgery? I am heartbroken to lose our two "furbabies" within six months of each other and very disappointed in Pine Valley. Read Less

Dr. Layton is an actual quack practicing bad medicine. I was referred to his practice by a friend when I was new in town. He diagnosed my dog with laryngeal paralysis, told me there was nothing to be done about it, that this was the end, that I should prepare myself for the dog's death. TWO AND A HALF YEARS LATER MY DOG IS HAPPY AND WELL because he had a fairly common surgery (performed in at a clinic Wilson, NC by an excellent and compassionate vet). Thank God I got a second opinion. I understand that many people are not able to pursue surgery for their pets, but certainly they should be informed that the option exists. Anything else is reckless, callous malpractice. If you just need a place for rabies shots and flea meds, I'm sure Pine Valley is fine. But if you care about your pet's health GO ANYWHERE ELSE. We moved to Wilmington in 2015 and tried two other vets - with disastrous results - before finding Pine Valley. From our first visit there, we could tell right away that they love animals and really care about helping them. Dr. Layton performed a knee surgery on our senior dog (a surgery that the vet we saw prior would not touch). And he continues to provide excellent care for that dog and our other dogs (Great Pyrenees that are huge) as well. We also get our dogs' nails trimmed there. The Pyrs are tricky because they're so big and furry with extra dew claws, but the staff does a wonderful job and we have never had any problems. I wanted to add that because I saw a review where someone had a bad experience, but for the number of times we have had nail trims, I believe the other experience was an exception, definitely not the norm. I can't recommend them enough - they're great! Read Less

This is the best vet I€ve taken my dog to. I used to take my dog to a different vet and he would be petrified of the vet then growl and need to be muzzled. During our first visit to Pine Valley Animal Hospital they said they would try to examine him without the muzzle. My dog was like a different dog, he was calm and relaxed. He let the vet look at him and give him a shot without needing to be muzzled. He still barked for lots of treats but was still much better. The office staff is also great to work with and will quickly fit us in for an appointment. Read Less

Everyone here has always been so amazing with my Layla! Anytime she has gone in for an issue, someone always calls within the next few days to check in, they never have overcharged me and even speak rates before any procedure (which is so polite but wouldn't impact my decision for my pup regardless), they do check ups with the owner present (unlike many vets here who take the animal away and I don't like that), and they have all been so loving and gentil with Layla. I couldn't speak higher of their love for their jobs there- they truly care and work to prove it! Blessed to have such a vet service so close! Read Less

Dr. Reinhart has been my vet for 5 years now, both for my personal dogs and for my foster dogs. She has always gone above and beyond for me, as well as for other clients who I have spoke to about her. She is great about offering multiple options with varying costs; she recognizes that not everyone can afford the most high-tech care for their pets, but does the best she can with the constraints that the owners give her. She works well with our rescue and tries to keep costs minimized. Dr. Reinhart will give you a true diagnosis, and won't sugar coat the potential issues that could arise based on the diagnosis. She offers multiple treatment options regardless of diagnosis, and will also offer follow-up options based on the initial treatment that you select. The care and concern that Dr. R shows for her patients and clients is unparalleled by anyone else in town. She will always stay late to help a regular client or emergency, and often follows up after hours to check on the pets. I have referred dozens of clients to her care and none have been let down! The rest of the staff at the clinic is always extremely polite and knowledgeable. They work with you to find an appointment that will work with both parties and will squeeze you in if necessary. The techs are equally as amazing and bust their behinds to give the best care for your furry children!Read Less

Ken Layton has been our veterinarian for our 2 labs for 7 years. The office front desk and techs have always been pleasant and accessible when we had a problem. Dr. Layton is knowledgeable and technically proficient. He gives you the real scoop on the issues and your options with the cost and side effects. But the quality we find most valuable is his common sense helping us to face health issues in the best interest of our 4 legged family members. He guided us over the years as to when to push and when to back off to give our labs a quality life. We would not look elsewhere. Read Less

Affordable, friendly, reliable vet care. I'm very pleased with the service. I have a super-sensitive Great Dane (has reactions to vaccines, generally experiences side affects to medication, etc.). Pine Valley recently did a much needed eyelid surgery on him due to Entropion. I was SO NERVOUS about this. This dog is my heart and I get really nervous due to his sensitivity when he has to go under anesthesia. The surgery went well and despite my amateur after-care, the results were fantastic. His eyes look great and he's much happier and more comfortable now that his eyelids aren't scratching his poor eyes. They are always welcoming and kind when we come. My dog always gets a lot of attention. I might also add that I took my Dalmatian there for years, right until her final days. They were kind and compassionate with me when making the decision to let her pass on peacefully and without any further pain.Read Less

I took my 6 year old chihuahua in for routine shots and heartworm testing. The staff is really nice, I will admit. Chaucer got his shots and we headed home. Later on that night he started limping a little on the front leg they drew blood from for the heartworm test. He yelped in pain for 2 days. When I called them on Monday morning (his appointment was on Saturday morning) and asked if it was normal for him to be acting the way he was, the woman that answered the phone said it was probably "psychological" and that she'd tell the doctor and he'd call me back, but "he does have other appointments." This made me very angry because they were brushing off the pain my dog was in. Needless to say, I won't recommend this vet to anyone. I took him somewhere else, where he got excellent treatment and pain meds because more than likely the other vet hit the bone or muscle, causing Chaucer intense pain. Read Less

Read Less
