This has to be the best veterinarian office around I have been going here for over 20 years. They have always been there for me and my pets and truly care for their wellbeing. Our Sandy just died of cancer, but thanks to the care and expertise of Dr Coble and his top notch staff, they gave us 12 great years with her. Dr Coble successfully removed 3 tumors over the years with no problems. But this time was to much for her. Dr. Coble was here when she came into this world and he was here when she left.He and the whole staff are exceptional people. It's a decent vet in the Wilmington area, especially if it's convenient for you to go there. They are a small vet, and if my dog had any major issues he would need to go somewhere more equipped to handle those situations. I was happy to pay the high price when I thought I was receiving high quality care. My dog was misdiagnosed. His stool came back negative but when I took him elsewhere it came back positive for an infection. When I called to speak to the staff they had the nerve to blame me for his condition. His test came back NEGATIVE. Please explain to me why I would put him on meds he didn't need. NOTHING WAS EXPLAINED TO ME. Then they blamed me for not being educated hahahaha. I work in healthcare. Great vets! Very nice and take the time to explain treatment/options. Front desk is also generally friendly. Only issue I have is that they are always busy. If I can get someone to answer, 9 out of 10 times I will be put on hold immediately when calling. Wait time is also long because they are so busy. I hope they hire more front end staff or expand. Our family used PCAH for the life times of our 2 dogs, Skipper and Charlie Brown. They were always available and Dr. Coble is simply the best. He is a man who has a connection with his patients, in our case, Skipper wouldn't let anyone else near him...and when Dr. Coble reads this he may laugh with me at this fact. Port City gives amazing care and will treat your pets as if they are their own. The vet techs are amazing, especially Rebecca. All the doctors are excellent, take time to inform you and answer your questions. They are beyond accommodating and have often stayed late and come in early on a Saturday to see a pet that needs immediate attention. They feel like family and you will never be disappointed!!! Had the pleasure of working with Dr. Coble and his staff recently when one of our house-cats from our garden center fell ill.  It was quickly determined that Tripod had inoperable cancer.  Dr. Cobles bedside manner and compassion where first-rate.  His staff is friendly and knowledgeable.  I've since taken our other house-kitties there for checkups.  Always willing to get me a quick appointment.  Prices seemed reasonable.  Look forward to working with this group again in the near future.  Thanks again Port City! Do not use Brandon Mayo of port city grooming. We took our golden retriever puppy for a trim and grooming.  We specifically said do not shave Jackson as he has a beautiful golden coat. We picked him up and have a bald golden retriever with a fluffy tail and fluffy head. Brandon's response was "well he still has a fluffy head". My family is crying!!  There's not even a transition from his fluffy head to his bald back and neck! I have a Chihuahua (6yrs) and a ChiPoo (1yr) that see Dr. Kettlecamp and his staff.  They are all so excellent with my furry babies.  Louie the ChiPoo, has social anxiety and they work around him and his "not that friendly" attitude and still somehow seem to come out "All Good!"  I recently brought in my 15yr old cat that had to be put down due to old age and failing kidney's, and they took great care of her and were so helpful to me who was heartbroken.  They went out of their way to even send a personal sympathy note in the mail.  I have had nothing but EXCELLENT customer service and care from the whole staff.  I definitely recommend Port City Animal Hospital!!!! On Monday I had to help a close family member let his best friend go to heaven. I must say that this was one of the hardest things I have had to do. Dolly went to heaven but he still had to decide what to do with her body. He decided to have Dolly cremated. Our vet which is Port City Animal Hospital took care of getting Dolly to Coastal Pet Cremations which I believe is affiliated with Wilmington Funeral & Cremation (Thank you so much Port City Animal Hospital). I picked up little Dolly today and when I opened her box I must say that I was blown away. The care and sympathy enclosed was remarkable. Dolly was enclosed in a beautiful wooden box with her name engraved on a gold plaque, there was a beautiful clay mold of her paw, a beautiful note & last but not least a bag that had a lock of her hair enclosed. I appreciate so much the care that was enclosed in the box and the honor that was bestowed in our little girl...your passion for representing your company to the highest level has been acknowledge based on all that your gave back. I switched to this business because traveling to my previous vet was too far, especially since I work 10+hours a day.  Doing this was the worst mistake I've ever made, in the care of my animals.  When taking my dog for the yearly checkup/shots, I asked specifically what a knot was on her abdomin. I was told it felt like one of the other "fatty tumors" and to not worry about it.  3 months later my dog is dead - having not survived the surgery to remove the knot that was cancer.  Had the DMV taken the time to actually check out the knot rather than focus on the enlarged heart; had they checked something else rather than continually change her medicine EVERY week when I called to say she STILL wasn't eating, then my dog who was barely 10, would still be here.  The pathology report said that the type of cancer she had was "usually curative when removed early".  So here you have my opinion of this pace.  If I could select NO stars for rating, I would. Had a very good experience here. I had been avoiding taking my kitty here because it is near impossible to get her in the carrier. After over an hour attempting to get her in the carrier, I finally got to the vet, although at least a half an hour late. I was going to get a check-up for my 5 year old cat, a rabies shot, and a few minor health concerns.The front desk staff was OK - not great...We saw Dr. Chris Coble. He was very gentle with my cat and she responded well. I thought she would freak out but I think the vet and vet tech handling her knew exactly what they were doing and avoided unnecessary stress on my kitty. I had several concerns and he addressed each one carefully and figured out exactly what was wrong. Some of my questions and concerns were probably excessive but he did not laugh or disregard anything. I would highly recommend this vet! Read Less
