We have been taking our dogs to him prior to his transfer to Midway Animal Clinic and always knew that he, along with Pete Gilyard were the absolute best EVER. Dr. Lakey recently bought Midway Veterinary Hospital. I knew him thru Clemmons Veterinary, & had very favorable experiences with his care. The office staff is very friendly with no waiting. He does a thorough exam, charges were reasonable, no push for extra services, as many vets do. His gentle temperment is great for ill/sick or scared pets. He truly cares for the animals. He's always called me back quickly. I'm a senior now, have owned many pets thru the years, did rescue and placement, had two aunts who were top breeders, which I cared for and placed the puppies, so I've seen many veterinarians thru the years. I used a Vet in Davidson County for about 20 yrs., waited for hours because he was great. The office manager was rude, incompetent & unprofessional, so many have left his business. I have to say I am so grateful to Dr.Hayes and his staff for taking such great care of my mini schnauzer "Monkey". He has pancreatitis and they found out he was diabetic. He was in bad shape when we dropped him off and they kept me informed and took such great care of him! They showed compassion and never made me feel like I was a bother when I called check on him. Dr. Hayes himself would even call me back with progress reports while Monkey was in hospital. I can't thank them or say enough for saving my sweet baby. I highly recommend them to anyone. After calling around to sevral vets Midway Animal Clinic seemed to have the cheapest "office visit" fee.  I made an appointment this morning for my new pup and they got me in at 10:20 am.  We arrived and were immediately taken to a room for him to be seen....yes no waiting in a waiting room with a barking pup!  The assistant and the vet were wonderful to work with and were great with my pup.  I will definitely be back again to see Dr. Haynes with both of my pups! I absolutely love this place, the staff and the Dr. are simply amazing. If I could give a 100 star rating I would! I was using another vet that had extremely long lines in the waiting room with cheaper pricing. After using Midway Animal clinic, you couldn't pay me to go back to the other vet. Also who ever does their scheduling does a great job. I have 2 timid dogs, which was an issuing using the other vet, this place never has overlapping appointments and there are never any pets in the waiting room. They were also able to fit me in last minute when my pup had an emergency. Again I cannot say enough about this animal clinic. The staff is so nice, and extremely helpful. Dr. Haynes and his staff treat my Golden Maggie as I expect - as a beloved family member who deserves the best care! Dr Haynes is so down to earth and easy to talk to, and will alway take the time to listen to your concerns, whether you are there for a routine exam or a specific problem. My time is also very important, and I have always been able to schedule appointments and know that I will not have to wait, as I always did when I went to another vet in this area. I recently had to unexpectedly take my dog in without an appointment to deal with an infection. I called, and they were able to work me in, perform the necessary tests, and I was out the door with medicine in less than 45 minutes! I love the location - easy to get in and out. Dr. Haynes and his staff have cared for my four-footed children for 10 years. He has seen us through the good and bad times. We have an 8 yr. old with chronic ear infections and he has to have his ears cleaned monthly. When my husband lost his job, Dr. Haynes gave us a break on the price so we could keep up the monthly visits. He has come in early and stayed late to take care of us and is by far the best, most caring vet I have ever had the pleasure of using. Hands down!! His staff is also caring and concerned. I started seeing Dr. Haynes because of his promotional $5 rabies clinic in October and I had recently moved and didn't have a vet, and very quickly fell in love with the whole practice when my Jack Russell puppy swallowed an acorn and had to have emergency surgery to remove it. The local emergency vet did the actual surgery, but Midway Animal Clinic did the follow up care and has helped me since with my panic moments when I think she might have done something similar. They never act like I'm overreacting about the health of my pet, they answer all of my questions and take time do go over any health problems and medications, and I really feel like my animals are cared for. As far as pricing goes, some of their prices are a little higher. I did have my animals spayed and neutered at Forysth Spay Neuter Clinic to save a little money. But please, no offense to anyone reading, when you bring a pet into your life, you need to do your homework and understand the costs of having an animal. It isn't cheap and it isn't just dog food and the occasional rabies shot. Don't get a dog on a whim and don't get an animal if you can't afford one. Please be a responsible pet owner. I've been an irresponsible pet owner in the past myself, but my pets trust their lives to me, and I have to do everything possible to keep that trust. I go to Midway Animal Clinic because I trust them and I recommend them to anyone looking for someone who cares about animals AND people and who is looking for someone to whom they can entrust their pets lives. My chihuahua was pounced on by my pitt . Our chihuahua disappeared for 3 days. I found him hiding under the house near death. I brought him inside and gave him lots of water and when I tried to move him I found the wound. I called Midway animal clinic to see if I could bring him in and called the Humane Society to help us with the visit that cost nearly $100. Human Society gave us the ok so we took him up there. The vet came in and said that he had been in a dog fight over a female in heat. I knew this wasn't true because he had no other marks on him. Nothing but the wound on his belly. I told the vet this and he went on a rant about having my dogs neutered to prevent injuries like that. I told him what I had witnessed in my front yard and he said that that was not what happened and that he was in a dog fight. I've had enough animals in my life to know what a dog looks like after a fight and it's much worse that my dog was, with a lot more injuries. How can someone tell you that what you saw didn't happen? Especially if they were not there themselves? Unless there is a dire emergency, I will not take my animals there. It is worth driving to Arcadia Vet for friendlier, more affordable care. Read Less

Had semi-emergency, pet was having difficult time breathing, felt fortunate to get an early morning appointment, rushed there, worried about pet, were there early, and then we had to wait almost 30 minutes before the Vet finally came to the examination room, the first thing out of her mouth was to denigrate our having a flea collar on our pet, she insinuated that our house had fleas, took the flea collar off our pet and actually threw in into the trash, she was very intent on selling us flea control, my overall impression was that she hates living in the country and she hates country people, she was not friendly in the slightest, the only time she perked up was when she got a power thrill by tell us that BY FEDERAL LAW required us a rabies shot, extremely rude completely unexpected in a town like midway, she seemed offended when we told her we would wait to purchase pet medication until after we researched it, she actually made a special trip to the front desk just to tell us how wrong we were. I was extremely disappointed in this local veternarian. We were worried that our pet was about to die, and instead of addressing the health of our pet, launched into a sales pitch, she gave us absolutely no reason to ever go to this clinic again. I expected much more from a small town clinic. Next time there is a need we will drive almost any distance to avoid another experience like the one we had at midway animal clinic.Read Less
