My husband and I are new to the area and had to find a good vet. I searched and read reviews on google to find a good place to take our new puppy....WE WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED! Dr. Craig and his staff were so nice. We had an early morning Saturday appointment so we got right in. The new puppy exam was very thorough and informative. We got the overwhelming sense that Dr. Craig is going to care for our puppy as if it was his own. I did not feel like the price was outrageous either!! We were so pleased with the visit! I have been to one other place in the winston Salem area with or 12 year old lab and I was not impressed. We will definitely be bringing him here for his next appt! I have been going to mount Tabor for about 4 years and have never waited less than 30 minutes to see the vet tech. They also will see dogs out of order. Today my appointment was at 1:20 so I arrived at 1:15 a man ahead of me had a 1:45 and arrived sometime before me and was seen first. In the future I won't worry about what time my appointment is scheduled for and just show up whenever is convenient. Otherwise there isn't much competition in town so it's what you're left with. Truly I cannot say enough wonderful things about this place and all of the people who work there. I have an incredibly anxious dog who goes crazy at the vet. Although I am sure they do not look forward to his visits they always act excited to see him and make me feel safe and comfortable while he is being treated. Dr. Craig and the staff at MTAH are top-notch, period. They've taken care of my dogs for years - I won't go anywhere else as long as this practice is operating. Dr. Craig has seen it all and is unbeatable for diagnosing problems and thinks "out of the box" to find the proper treatment for your pet. Our terrier mix has had a sensitive stomach for years, finally developing pancreatitis. After treatment with IVs and injections over a couple of days, Dr. Craig put him on low-fat Rx dog food and the little guy is like a different dog! When I moved to Winston-Salem in 2007, my first priority after getting electricity and water to my new home was to look for a vet for my precious cat Sacha. Someone I trusted suggested Mt. Tabor Animal Hospital and it was wonderful. Through the years, they not only provided outstanding vet care, but did it with love and concern for my "baby" and for me. As he aged, he developed health issues that Mt. Tabor helped me deal with and, in many instances, took care of. As he nearly reached 17, it became obvious that he was coming to the end of his life. The vet gave me some options, but I knew anything except letting him go would be selfish. Since he had always been a one-person kitty, I was able to stay with him until the end and watched him go peacefully and surrounded by love. The picture I won't forget is the vet still stroking him as I walked out the door. Everyone there knew my pain and they were so supportive. Mt. Tabor Animal Hospital had made Sacha's days good ones until his last breath and, for that, I will be forever grateful. This is a fabulous place with a staff that is above par. They are responsive, love your pet and are so kind to their clients. My dog was involved in a dog attack and he was rushed to the hospital. They took him from me, put me in one of the private rooms while I waited and quickly came in to give me reports on the dog - luckily Rocky was fine. THE WORST VETS in this town. They did an operation on our dogs ear. He had multiple complications and wouldn't ever let us see or talk to a vet without a fight with the rude receptionists. Once he had a drain removed from THEIR procedure they recommended and the fluid again reaccumulated which was our concern from the start. They rudely and abruptly said "we won't see you ever again." I asked to please speak with a vet - any vet as we were worried as did my husband and the receptionist asked me to Hold- came back and said- nope we won't see you come get records and hung up on us. We will be reporting them to NC vet board and every review possible. We were treated horribly through the whole process- being bullied into having to make a trip there bc the vet would not call me back- all according to their receptionists. Read Less

Being new to town, several friends recommended that I take my aging dogs to Mt Tabor. Unfortunately, they didn't get to know my 14 (almost 15) year old cocker spaniel before we had to say goodbye to him. Regardless of his being a new patient for them, they surrounded and embraced both of us like family. Their genuine and natural kindness made such a difficult decision and time almost bearable, and I have NEVER experienced compassion like the entire staff showed during that period. Dr. Teuschler was a godsend to my sweet Duncan and me. Additionally,my 11 year old springer spaniel had to have surgery to remove bladder stones and the whole experience was as easy as it possibly could be. Cannot sing their praises enough. Part of being a veterinarian or working at an animal hospital is knowing the patients and the human family. That includes being there throughout the patient's life, and also being there at the end of life. Bobo my cat was age 17 when his time came last week, and I was feeling so alone in taking him on what I knew was his last ride. I was a wreck, and everybody that knows me at Mt Tabor knew it, they supported me, held my hand and cried with me as my little man breathed his last and his pain ended. On such a sad day, the people of Mt Tabor vet showed true compassion and love, and that love burned itself into my memory of Bobo's departure from this world. They helped me with cremation arrangements, and just today I received a card in the mail signed by every member of the staff. To everyone at Mt Tabor, I say thank you for everthing you've done, it made a huge difference in how I feel now.Read Less

I am very disappointed in Mount Tabor Animal Hospital service. I recently tried to get revolution for my 3 cats. I did it through 1800 pet meds. They contacted Mount tabor and was told I had to call and pick up the script. So instead of working with the pharmacy directly I have to call and request a script and spend my time and money picking it up. Its not like my cat was not seen there about 3 months ago for a complete exam. I also had a inadequate examination by Jenny Bolden. Although, I have to say H. Brad Craig did an excellent job. Then when I gave the staff a voucher for my kittens rabies shot from the humane society they refused to accept it.  So I had to pay and then contact the humane society for reimbursement. Again wasting more of my time. Lastly, they want you to bring your kitten in multiple times for its vaccinations. That is wasting my time and gas money but also extremely stressful for my kitten. My prior vet did all vaccinations at one visit. Overall, I am extremely dissatisfied with their customer service. I will bring my cat in for his last vaccine and then I will stopping bringing all my pets to their office. I will also stop promoting their services as well.  Oh and they do not even have a way to email the facility. So inconvenient. Read Less

I have been going to this Vet practice since 1996. I started with Dr. Hoffman then transferred over to Dr. Craig. I currently see Dr. Teuschler for all my cats. This place is such a relief to find in Winston-Salem!After moving back here from Charleston, SC, where I found the vet of my dreams and having been disillusioned by another vet in Winston before my Charleston experience this place was a breath of fresh air.I loved the staff - they are so friendly, so helpful, so nice.  They take as many techs as needed to help with the examinations and everything ran on time.  In addition, the vets truly care about the animals and their ENTIRE well-being.  They don't rush through and they go through all concerns they may have and answer any and all questions about your animal. Why can't doctors for humans be as nice as the ones for animals?I swear, I would rather have most of the vets I have met examine ME than one of the products of the American Med Schools.I digress, I use two different animal hospitals in the area and this is one. It isn't that I prefer one over the other, but this location is the only one I know of that offers holistic health care for animals.  We have one cat that has had chronic skin problems and the homeopathic vet at Mount Tabor is the only one that has been able to find a solution for relief for our cat.Always friendly but be advised!! They keep a few homeless kittens in the lobby. Make sure you always pat down your spouse to search for absconded balls of fur. Trust me. Read Less
