I had called around 5 or 6 veterinary places in Fargo Moorhead because my 15 year old cat was having litter box issues and not eating or drinking. They all said they were not taking new patients before they would even ask what was happening with Bubba. I finally called Prairie Winds and they saw him right away. They evaluated him and let me know what the issue could be and what the solution would be. They informed me upfront regarding the costs associated with his care. Needl...ess to say, after a few days of trying to pull him through, found that treatments were not working. Our family made the difficult decision to end his suffering. I could tell that the employees were just as sad as we were that he was leaving us. They were very supportive through the whole process and even sent a sympathy card with his paw prints on cards for us to cherish. It was our first experience with them and I was very impressed. I know by how they reacted and how our cat reacted that they were loving with him when he was under their care. I plan on bringing our kitten there for her care and shots when it's time because it is worth it to us to know that our pets are truely in good hands. If you are looking for a vet clinic that cares for your pet as much as you do, then Prairie Winds Veterinary Center is the place for you. I had a wonderful experience with Prairie Winds. My two temperamental cats refuse to leave the house in their kennels, so Prairie Winds did a check up for my cats at home. The staff at Prairie Winds are nothing short of amazing. I have been using them for our cats Mr. Cuddles and Bailey since we adopted them. When Bailey got sick, we took him into Dr. Alicia and her staff who walked us through every test result, every procedure, and every piece of what they were doing for our cat. They allowed us to drop him off before we went to work to fit him in during the day as well. They were always kind when we would call with questions about Bailey's care or about new symptoms we were seeing. When the day came that we knew Bailey would need to be put to sleep, they brought us in for Urgent Care (it was a Saturday) and the staff and vet who were working were in communication with Dr. Alicia who wasn't working about care options. They were extremely kind and professional with putting our beautiful Bailey to sleep and gave us the time we needed to say our goodbyes. A few weeks after, we received a card in the mail that everyone had signed and wrote messages in and postcards with Bailey's pawprints. It was a beautiful gesture. I am hating the New Pricing Schedule We have always liked the staff. However after calling in and trying to set up an appointment for our cat, I was given 3 different prices. They gave me one price for over two weeks out and another for the next week after I called. I was told another for that week. Then I had an option of coming in that day for urgent care. Each was considerably more. If you have an opening, why should I pay extra to be seen? I understand if I utilized urgent care to pay more. I emailed them and asked about it and mentioned I was considering moving to another vet. They didn't give me any answers, just told me how to go about moving to another vet if I wanted. It didn't seem like they cared how I felt as a customer. I didn't even deserve an answer. I got the feeling like if you don't like it go somewhere else. Read Less

Dr Dan Burchill has been my dogs vet since she was a puppy yes he was a vet in Casselton ND but he opened this clinic and all of the Drs and techs are very friendly and caring for her and my other dog which are both service dogs. Our new puppy has had skin issues since we got him. Our first visit to Prairie Winds was so thorough and they really explained everything so clearly! Skin problems are tough! Over the Memorial Day weekend, his rash became worse, so today I drove home in without making an appointment and they were able to accommodate us! The care and time they take is amazing! Well, first of all I showed up early to my appointment just in case I needed to do paperwork. My appointment was at 12 .... I see someone who works there pull up at 12:04... I got taken back at like 12:13 turns out that employee was my vet (also was paying for urgent care visit at this 12 apt) the vet suggested an anal gland flush - she said sometimes they have to be sedated but that my dog handed the express of the gland well so they might not need to sedate. I said I would ...prefer to try without sedation. They asked me to wait in the waiting room and if they couldn't do the flush without sedation they would come tell me. They brought my dog out, said they did the flush, and that she did great.... she was in so much pain that night but I was like thank goodness it will be better... she didn't sleep bc of the pain. Next morning.... it looked soooo bad and burst. So now I'm frustrated she went through all this pain for nothing.... money down the drain for nothing. I call in and instead of saying bring her in we will do what we need to or comp the price from yesterday .... they say bc I didn't do what the vet suggested and they did it without sedation that's why this happened and that I need to come back in and pay for them to redo this procedure.... have my baby go through it all again ..... I was hoping that I found something special with this place, especially after reading some positive reviews. Well, I should know better, just another uncaring vet and clinic. I arrived and waited a good 15 minutes Beyond appointment time. Vet came in, looked here there, I explained I am looking for someone to team up with me for reproductive health of my dog. Was promised a call back from "Dr. Alicia" the next week as she was out for the rest of the week. Was told she is the specialist regarding this topic. Two weeks later I receive a call back from the vet I saw "Dr. Kate" she was very cold, bluntly told me although Dr. Alicia does work with reproduction she's not seeing any more patients. Basically told me to transfer my records. Not only that she took the initiative to go ahead and email my records to me before she called to get me out faster. Awesome place! my dog has been having eye issues we've brought her all the way to the cities, I did some research and seen Dr. Alecia is into learning about the eyes so I gave her a try to save me a trip and also time since the ophthalmologist only comes once a month. All thumbs up every time we visit this place!  I have brought 4 dogs to this vet and I would never choose any place else.  Last fall I was at a benefit where there was a neuter for $80 at another clinic and even though I still needed my puppy neutered I walked right past that bid sheet because it was not at Prairie Winds Vet.  The staff are very caring and responsive to questions and emails.  They give excellent advice and I have never felt stupid asking a question about my dogs. They had my sweet Angel during her last breath and I'm so thankful to Anna for going in at night to give her meds and spend time with her.  They are quick to get us in for visits and always make recommendations that are in the best interest of long term pet health. When people talk to pets like babies, that's when you know they care.  And these staff definitely care!  I trust them completely with my dogs! Read Less

My cat was almost dead when I picked her up to take her to another vet for exploratory surgery after they said she was doing just fine. I had brought her in for urgent care because she had been vomitting alot and she was there overnight, they didn't do anything to help her. They didn't give her pain meds or anti nausea medications, all they did was give her iv fluids although she continued vomiting and was obviously in distress. I adore this place. They are all so wonderful, fun, and treat your animals like gold. They don't shove a vaccine in your pet and then your out. They really make the pets comfortable and their very friendly to both pets and wonders. The store is clean and very pretty! Alicia (Main Vet) is amazing. So personable and thorough. She's excellent. Before we found this place we were taking our dog to Southgate on the corner of 32nd Avenue S and 15th Street South in Fargo. Connie fit me in immediately, the techs are pleasant and knowledgable and Dr. Burchill diagnosed him within minutes, which is amazing considering the handful of vets we've been to since moving here 2 years ago have never been able to figure out this issue.
