They over charge and you will wait hours just to speak to a vet.. if you dont just leave after waiting so long like many do.. plus the staff of very rude if you ask them anything. I have been there more times than I can count and have spent enough money there to add another wing. But outta all them times maybe had a good experience once.. but they were close and open 24 / 7 so I kept going. But the place continues to get worse every day and it's just not worth it anymore. So having to put my dog down is traumatic enough, but then to learn that you have to pay more to stay with your dog during the procedure is incredible. They may be great in other things, but this policy is amazingly cruel and inhuman. It seems designed to encourage owners not to stay or to fleece them a few extra bucks when they are the most vulnerable. The board should retract this policy immediately. Having no other choice, in an obvious emergency, they are open when most other vets are not. I called to ask a simple question, my puppy isn't feeling well and has been throwing up, puppies eat stuff and throw up. I gave her milk of magnesia and rice. It's been this way about 24hrs and I don't re-call her pooping since yesterday. Growing concerned I was wanting to know at what point is it an emergency, (concerned she have a blockage)and hoping for perhaps something to watch for, I was told if I didn't see one of their vets on a regular basis, then I was more then welcome to come to Er. The facilities are wonderful and the doctor was amazing and really cared but I didn't give it 5 stars because I had to wait too long, although I understand that there were many emergencies it took about five I was my trip to ER on a Friday night. I am glad my dog was seen by the veterinarian that attended us because she was extremely knowledgeable and took care and dedicated a long time to explain to us what was wrong and even other possibilities. She was so kind to even call later to tell us about the results of the x-rays. I wish you had a private practice because I will take my dog to her in a heartbeat. Great doctor! Our pup got into a tussle with his little bro and caught a tooth to the leg during the mayhem. The cut was pretty deep so we had to find an emergency 24 hour vet that could care for our boy. We saw the higher reviews on this one so decided to try it. Now I'm glad we did! They seemed to genuinely care about our pup. They saw him almost immediately and had him sedated and stitched up within an hour. The cost was reasonable as well. I would recommend the MetVet to everyone! Read Less

We recently had to put our grandpa kitty down suddenly on a Sunday. When I called, very upset and in tears, the receptionist was so caring and understanding. We were able to bring him in right away and the entire staff was wonderful to my kids and I. You could tell they loved animals and it was evident they were upset for our loss. They kept our kitty for us to pick his body up the following day and wrapped him up in his blanket in a gentle way. They made us a paw print impression with his name on it as well. We even received a card in the mail a few days later. They really made a horrible experience into one that was as pleasant as possible. Overall, I would recommend Metro Veterinary Hospital. Being not from here I wasn't sure which hospital to take my cat to, so I want to provide an honest review for others who might not know where to turn: Pros- My cat received excellent care. After taking her to her regular vet and another emergency vet, Metro was actually able to diagnose her problem. They did come in under the estimate they quoted us. We went in on Easter Sunday around 6 PM and were seen very quickly. A majority of the medical staff was very thorough and helpful. Cons- Cost. I have been to several emergency vets and this is the 1st time we ran into a situation like this. First, we were given a range of $2,000 to $4,000. Fine- she's our baby. The issue was we weren't told there would be a deposit, so when we go to leave they asked us for $2,000. That is a lot to ask someone to pay upfront, for services that hadn't even been rendered yet- especially when we weren't expecting it. So we attempted to use my husband's Care Credit card and when they ran it they asked if we wanted 6 mos. no interest and we said we wanted the longest we could do (knowing Care Credit technically allows for up to 60 mos.). They said they could only do 6 mo. Long story short, Care Credit said it is up to the provider so I called them back and they said it was hospital policy to only allow 6 mos. Now I understand if this is their policy, I just wish they had been more forthcoming regarding the financial expectations. Money is just not what I wanted to be worried about during this time. Bedside manner- There were a few folks I spoke with that were not overly helpful or compassionate. Most of the staff was patient and great (really!). But I would prefer to not be told 'your cat is terrified here'- I know her and know she is scared, but please don't confirm that when there is nothing I can do to help her. Also, at check out the discharge staff member was not overly knowledgeable or able to answer my questions regarding- in their defense it was after normal business hours. The only other thing was that I had asked them to call in her prescription so I could just run through the drive through and not make her stay in the car and wait for it. I was told they would and they did not (honest mistake I am sure) but inconvenient and stressful on my cat nonetheless. Read Less

Had to take my best friend George on Easter night to be put to sleep after a long day of his bowels shutting down after a few months of his hips getting worse. The staff was extremely caring during a difficult time and asked if we needed more time. We knew it was time and couldn't watch him suffer another night in pain. They even made us an imprint of his paw with his name on it for no extra cost. They were very affordable and I highly recommend for anyone who needs to end of life care. Read Less

I was very displeased with the service my dog and I received here. He had a lump on his back that was very concerning and I brought him to get it checked out. The doctor drew some samples to send out for testing and said they would have the results the following week. It took over an hour drive to get there for us so this was not just an ordinary visit. The following week I heard nothing so I called to ask what was going on. The doctor called me back the following day to say that the lab supposedly lost the sample and that I would need to come back in to do this all over again. When I called back to schedule the appointment I had asked if there was a way to reimburse me for the inconvenience especially coming from over an hour away. Conveniently after I inquired about this they called me back and said they had found the sample. I did not go back for any follow up and they have lost my business due to this incident.Read Less

We've had to bring a few of our pets here over the last few years and have been very happy with the caring and professional medical treatment provided. However, we have not been impressed with the individuals answering the phones after hours. One instance was when we called to say we had to bring our elderly dog in to be put down. This had not been an easy decision, and all we heard on the phone was "If you get him in within a half hour you get a discount." I realize that we were a bit emotional, but this just sounded insensitive. There was no concern for us or our dog, just the price tag. The second occasion was when we called about a surgical incision that had opened up. We simply wanted to know if it was emergent enough to bring our dog in, but all we got was "We don't give medical advice." I fully understand that you can't diagnose over the phone, and you are running a business so you're not going to tell us how to fix it ourselves at home for free...but we just wanted to know if our pet was in trouble. It seems as if a 24/7 emergency animal hospital would be better prepared to actually help people after hours. Thankfully your doctors and techs make up for it with their wonderful service.Read Less

Took my best friend Tom (5 month old Kitten) to this place for urinary blockage. It took four hours of waiting before seeing the doctor which my wife had to beg before they came to the room. This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. With no other choices due to Holiday I could only hope he was in good care. They wrote Toms weight down wrong and he OD on the sedation drug he needed to receive his catheter, which he eventually received after they tore his bladder. He received drugs to counter the OD which resulted in brain swelling. All said and done Tom did not make it out of a simple procedure of getting a catheter. My cat is diabetic he was sent there from our vet with a vet reference, they knew he was coming upon arrival we waited 45 minutes they were not busy they examined the cat said they needed to blood work it would be an hr for results. We went to eat came back waited two more hrs in waiting room they kept saying dr will be with you they at this point lied and had not ran his blood work which came out on paper work when ran dr fox is very unprofessional our cat now been there 5 .5 hrs no water no litter box was going into diabetic shock and no medicine. Her words he got over looked but if i dont hospital him for 4000 dollars im a bad parent. We had no choice at this point to leave him he needed fluids in am they forgot to call us we called and was released at 8 am not to our knowledge they didnt treat him till after midnight we got there at 615. They alomost killed him we took him back to our vet for treatment . I wouldnt recommend them to treat road kill after what they did to our pet.Read Less

Caring for your pet doesn't get much better than MVH. In December of 2015, my dog jumped off my bed and landed funny. After taking him to our regular vet, it was discovered he had a small growth in the area he hurt himself. As you can guess, it was found to be cancerous. We were then referred to MVH, to discuss our options. The staff there was fantastic. The took care of Bailey as if he was their own. He had his tumor removed, and went through several rounds of chemotherapy. He was in great shape, until it was recently discovered he ha a very small growth in the same area. HHis ooncologist was on top of it, and the tumor has not grown bigger on bit. Much lovlove to DRs. Padget and Dr. Thalhoffer. Read Less

Excellent and professional facility. Our cat went there for life-saving lung surgery. Sadly, our boy's lungs were too far diseased and the outcome was not what we wanted. However, we were impressed and moved by the staff's dedication to our cat's health, their professionalism (the surgeon even called us extremely early from his home at one point), and kindness. In the wee early morning hours of September 30 our beloved Boxer, Graycee, began to slip away form us. She was 10 and had an awesome life but that morning she woke up coughing and then began coughing up blood. It was horrific and we were a mess. Our dear friend in New Orleans swung into action and began calling 24 hour facilities to get us help. We drove from Niles, Ohio - an hour trip - to try and get help. Your facility was AMAZING to us. We were taken in quickly, and the doctors and staff that worked on our sweet girl were so incredible. Though our baby did not make it we know you did all you could for her - and for us as well. I had to bring my chocolate lab in for a non life threatening issue yet was serious enough that she needed to come here. The staff was fine and courteous. The doctor (Dr. Hurst) was AWESOME! very knowledgeable friendly and answered all of our questions with compassion and professionalism---the only reason I didn't rate my experience a "perfect" would be because of the wait time. I understand the idea of triage and higher priority patients need seen first but when you walk into the facility at 8:20pm and leave at 1:45am that's quite excessive. Read Less

The vet had no idea what to do with a bird that had its bottom beak taken off. Charged $146 and never examed the beak. Took a picture and sent it to the on call avian vet which he said he couldn't tell anything from the picture. The vet never touched the bird. All they asked is the bird friendly. They acted afraid of a little cinnamon conure that couldn't bite anything without their lower beak. Our vet recommended taking the bird here. The bird is now at our regular vet and was shocked that no avian vet looked at this bird. Never again will I bring any of our birds there. They show no concern. Nice building but that does nothing for the birds. Need to take off your website you know about birds because the vet knew nothing! Read Less

Extremely disappointed in this facility. I am in from out of town and found a stray dog. I contacted the Barberton Police and they mentioned that this is where they take strays for help.I took the dog there- he was chipped (they weren't able to give out any contact info) and because he was in good health...there was nothing they could do. IM OUT OF TOWN. I can do nothing more for this dog. It's Saturday, shelters are closed, no one can take him in. SHAME ON YOU FOR YOUR LACK OF EMPATHY. Don't worry- I would never leave a dog abandoned, as you would and have, so I will make sure he is taken care of appropriately. THANK YOU FOR TAKING WALK-IN CUSTOMERS!!!My poor beagle ate a whole pack of bagels. I don't know how she did it but the hound in her took over and she didn't know when to stop. She looked like death when I got home from work and found the empty bag. She was laying on the couch clenching her belly, having diarrhea, vomiting, and just laying in her own excrement because she couldn't move. I was freaking out and new I had to get her to emergency because she was in a lot of pain and her belly was bloated very large.I called around to a few vet hospitals but this was the only one in my area that could see her immediately. I was frantic and upset and it was helpful to me that they were just as urgent with her as anyone else with a pet emergency and they were very sweet and sincere towards us. We were taken back to the exam room within 10 minutes of arriving. The nurse/aid (not sure what she is called) came in and took my pup's vitals and took detailed notes about what happened. Then the doc came in and examined her. Luckily, she just needed some anti-nausea and fluids because she had puked up most of the bagel mass. It was super reassuring talking with the vet about our options for treatment. The cost for them to see your pet in an emergency situation is currently $99. Anything else that is done (x-rays, shots, surgeries) is extra on top of that. I was relieved that my dog didn't need to have surgery or anything and she's doing very well now, a week later.
