I've been here once for a bird and once for a snake. Both times my animals were seen by Dr. Martti Putkonen. He is gentle and honest. I felt that my animals were in good hands. When I first got my bird he told me stories and offered me advice. He is a genuinely kind guy. Dr Poling is the main vet I see for both of my Standard Schnauzers. She has been treating Otto for 10 years. However any of the vets at this practice are very competent, caring and professional. Do not pay any attention to the negative reviews as with anything, there is no such thing as an exact science. These vets care for your pets as if they were their own. They treat a wide array of animals; if you bring your furry loved one here, you'll be in good hands. I love them all! Read Less

I just need to commend Dr. Putkonen. I came in this morning with my bunny who was critically ill. I had a feeling upon walking into the clinic that my bunny had passed before I even got in the door :( I was greeted by a welcoming staff, who were compassionate, quick and empathetic when I realized he had in fact passed. They called Dr. Putkonen in immediately to confirm. Knowing nothing of my bunny's history (I had been to three different emergency vet clinics in the last 12 hrs where no one would/could help me with my "exotic" animal) since my husband had literally found their number earlier that morning, he came in, confirmed my bunny had passed and began to ask me questions about him. When I told him my bunny was 12 years old he immediately exclaimed "my goodness! 12 years! I think he is the oldest bunny I have ever met! You all gave him 3-4 years more than most bunnies.. he must have been one happy little guy!! Good job!" Those words gave me comfort. He didn't ask me why I didn't get him there sooner, he didn't criticize me for not bringing my little guys records. He simply comforted me and my son and didn't charge me for this incredibly short visit. I am thankful for this staff as this was extremely difficult for me and my family. I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Poling for at least 15 years. She is always so calm and when she explains things, she keeps me calm as well. It is a wonderful place to take your pets. Whenever I would tell my dogs that it was time to go see their Dr., they would get all excited and run to the car. I think that says a lot about this place and the people working there. Read Less

Dr. Poling and her staff were wonderful. My dog recently passed away from kidney failure, but they did everything possible to give us and incredible last few months with her. This veterinarian office was amazing! Appointment was easy to make and staff were friendly. Dr. Putkonen took excellent care of our ill bunnies and answered all of our questions. We are forever grateful to them. When our dog suddenly collapsed and went into heart failure at 5:00 pm on a week day our regular vet who has taken care of our dog for 8 years turned us away. They gave us a name of another vet to try because they were booked for the day. Instead I called Avon animal hospital whom my parents used years ago. They told us to come right in. They took care of us like family. Unfortunately our dog could not be saved. He was a 10 year old doberman and his heart just gave out. The staff was so compassionate and caring. They really supported us during this heartbreaking situation. We will now be taking our other pets there eventhough we live in Lagrange. Read Less

When I took my turtle to be looked at by Dr Putkonnen, I could tell he knew how to handle him properly. So this is where I go now. The Dr. also worked with my son's crested gecko and we were both pleased. He is very experienced and knowledgeable, and it shows. I'd highly recommend him if you have exotics. Read Less

My dog went in for a grooming . Trim an wash blow dry she left fluffy and soft and came back completely shaved. Took my cat in a while back and asked for a trim and grooming and returned to a wet matted mess. Not happy should have learned the first time. Read Less

We got our cat as a tiny kitten, bottle fed him until he was old enough to eat. I never wanted him to go to the vet however a patron of my employers recommended this place and I am so grateful. I have a busy work schedule and had to drop my babe off 5 days earlier to his appointment. Everyone was accommodating and took great care of my kitty. I am so thankful! Thanks for such great service.
