The quality of this place has gone down significantly for some reason. I have been going to this location for 2+ years and had the banfield plan for all 3 of my dogs. I have had two bad incidents with this location that caused me to cancel my plans and seek other veterinary care. 1) My dog, Taco, has recurring UTIs. We took her in for an ultrasound and they had to shave her belly. When we picked her up, we were told 'she has some razor burn'. I didn't think much of it until I got home and saw it was NOT razor burn. It was actual razor cuts. When I called to complain, I was basically dismissed by whoever it was that I spoke to just saying it was likely razor burn that I could bring her back in and they would check it out. It seemed to be healing ok and I was just mad at being treated that way so I canceled the appt to go back in and just let it go. I later received an apology from a vet and felt satisfied that the issue was resolved. 2) I recently adopted my 3rd dog, an australian shepherd puppy named Sammie. We took her to Banfield per the instruction of our breeder to have her vet checked within 72 hours of getting her. Everything went ok with the appt, except they gave us this drug called Simparica for fleas. I am an extra paranoid person (which in this case, is good) so I googled this drug and there are two issues with it. This is a sister drug to Bravecto which has killed/caused terrible reactions to some dogs who have taken it. This drug is also not recommended for dogs under 6 months of age - my puppy is 8-9 weeks old. I called Banfield and told them about the issues I had with giving her this pill. The receptionist talked to a 'VA' (guessing that is short for a vet?) who said 'it says 6 months on the package but it's ok for 8 weeks and up'. I said I was still not comfortable giving it to her at which point I was told that 'that's your prerogative' and to talk to a vet at my next appt on Sunday of this week. I decided this was the last straw for me. I have called Banfield and paid to have Sammie's plan canceled (after just starting it on Saturday) and have made Tacos/Violet's plans non-renewed in Jan/Feb of 2018. We will NOT be returning to this location before our plan is up with our two other dogs - we will instead try the Milford, OH location to see if the care is any better. I wish I had more positive things to say about this location but I feel like the last few months I have noticed the care going downhill and chose to turn a blind eye until these two big situations stuck out at me. Please do not take your pets to Banfield - search for another vet in this area who will provide a higher level of care!!! Read Less

Wow!! What a pleasant experience today. I was very nervous to bring my dog, Yoshi into the vet today for two reasons: 1) he is an older dog and hasn't seen a vet in several years and we were worried about the laundry list of things that might be wrong with him as well as the possibility of him being hurt beyond repair due to his age and 2) we budgeted exactly what we needed for the week and didn't have tons of room to spare. However, both worries were alleviated thanks to your vet tech and veterinarian, Cassie and Dr. Midkiff at the Eastage Banfield. Honestly, they were more than I could have hoped for. I told them all of my concerns and they both went above and beyond in all aspects of the visit. They were loving and caring towards Yoshi, found out the problem and assisted in the best way to pay for it. Also, thankfully, Yoshi was okay, and it was not as colossal of an issue as I had originally thought. It is so incredibly refreshing to know that there are employees of a company who do not want to monetarily gouge us and are just out for the well-being of my dog and my family. So, thank you to whomever hired Cassie and Dr. Midkiff and because of their goodwill, they now have lifetime customers with my family and anyone who ever asks me, "where should I take my dog/cat?" I have the insurance for both my cat and dog. Just like any insurance it may seem that it is not worth it if you do not have to use it for things other than routine services. However, my dog/Dixie has had to have several different surgeries, and I have saved a lot of money with the insurance. My animals are part of my family, especially to my children. It is hard to take your four-legged family member to someone and have him or her tell you that they need an expensive surgery. You have to trust the person telling you this. I do not think that this facility is the cheapest out there but they do provide quality care. I will be making payments for a while, but my animals are healthy and happy. Read Less

Last week I had to take my 7 month Blue Nose Pitbull in for what I thought was a UTI. I called the night before saying I would be bringing her and to call me if there were any issues. I received a call first thing the next morning telling me they were able to take her, no problem. When I arrived I was greeted immediately and was helped right away. I signed my puppy, Baby, up for the Wellness Plan as I had done previously with two of my other dogs. One of the vets came out and immediately greeted me and Baby as she walked past us (we were still in the paperwork process). They took Baby back and immediately I heard the friendly staff welcoming Baby which made me smile as I left for work. Not long after I arrived at work Dr. Kriebel called to inform me that Baby was extremely sick and needed emergency surgery. I immediately left work to go discuss what options Baby had. Dr. Kriebel immediately met with me, explained in great detail not only what was wrong with my puppy, but what course of action they needed to take. During the surgery it was discovered that Baby was born with a congenital abnormality and unfortunately nothing could be done. Dr. Kriebel explained the options that my husband and I had and we made the decision to put Baby to rest while she was under the anthesia. Dr. Kriebel and the entire staff was so compassionate, apologetic, and patient with me as I cried and asked questions. Dr. Kriebel again reached out later in the evening to tell me how sorry she was and how sweet Baby was. Today, a week later I received a hand written sympathy card from the staff of Banfield sending their deepest sympathies. I have never before been lucky enough to have such a compassionate company as Banfield. I was already a loyal customer with three of my older fur babies, but I will continue to sing their praises every day!!!! They are truly a wonderful company that has so much compassion for my furry family members. I am BEYOND impressed. Thank you sincerely to the staff of Banfield! Sincerely, Mrs Morris Read Less

While I think the vet techs and vets are good at what they do, the underlying banfield service is terrible. I will save more money by going to a regular vet, not paying a monthly fee. The service covers very little, I pay $55/month, which increased from the original $32/month without warning. I can get check ups and negotiate a dental cleaning with my local vet for a fraction of the price I pay at banfield, flea meds included. And you are forced to stay with them for an entire year, or "pay your way out of the years contract". Needless to say I won't be renewing. Perhaps if they had a 24hour vet, it would be worthwhile. Our dog ended up with an emergency situation and our "pet insurance" did nothing to help us except offer a 15% discount (which was nothing in comparison to the bill). Emergencies are what I want covered, it was an oversight on my part. Read Less

DO NOT USE their memberships. We signed up for the puppy membership a year ago thinking it would help save us money. They charged us twice in the first month and it took many long phone calls and visits to the office to get it straightened out. We switched to another office in our area after feeling like the staff at the first office was completely incompetent. At the new office, we would wait easily an hour plus in the waiting room to see a vet for less than five minutes. I figured we would stick it out and switch to a different vet when the plan was up in a year. Well a few weeks ago they said we were scheduled for her last puppy check up. After sitting and waiting for quite some time, we were told they were giving her multiple shots some of which were not due for another month. Shots that we would not have given except we thought it was part of her puppy plan. On our way out we were told we owed nothing, so we thought everything was covered as her last visit on her puppy plan. A couple of weeks later a $25 charge showed up on our bank account. We called to find out why we were being charged and were told the puppy planned had rolled over into an adult plan WIHTOUT ANY NOTIFICATION and that it was written into the contract that they did not have to notify you. When we indicated we did not want the adult plan and wanted to cancel, we were told we would then owe the balance of our last visit which was somewhere around $300. Or we could stay on the adult plan for the next 10 months and pay $250 over the course of those months. Basically we are locked into staying on their plan for another year. Three phones calls later with no apology or attempt to fix their broken system. I went to Banfield for their convenient hours, but I will take vacation days to take my dogs somewhere else in the future after the experiences we have had there the past year.Read Less

Overall, we were pretty satisfied with our service today at Banfield Pet Hospital. We really appreciated the fact that they have pet wellness programs that allow you to break up the yearly pet care into affordable monthly payments. They are also open on the weekend, which is VERY nice for people who have very busy week day work schedule. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, but we were a little put off that they seemed to be nervous by out cat's anxiety and defensive behavior. You would think that would be a very common problem they deal with, but it must be less common than we think. I plan on reviewing again after our young cat is spayed and our older cat receives his yearly shots. Read Less

I adopted a puppy from Petsmart in January and received a $30 off coupon to Banfield.  I wanted to have him "checked out" before I adopted him and they were great!  I felt guilty about not going to my normal vet but with the coupon I couldn't resist.  Just this weekend (three months later) I thought my dog had ringworm (yes I'm a new "mom").  My vet wasn't open and I called Banfield at Eastgate.  They got me in right away.  The vet looked at my guy and happily informed me he didn't have ringworm...he has "dirty mouth" (food gets caught in the extra folds of skin on his lower jaw and it gets irritated).  HAPPY DAYS!!!  They showed me what to do and all is well.  The vet then checked him out completely and gave him a clean bill of health.  Made me feel good since I'm new to the puppy world.  They only charged me for the office visit.  I'm thinking I'm going back there for normal check-ups.  Oh and they also offer packages for your dog(s) and/or cat(s) that are discounted rates for normal check-ups/blood tests etc.  I'm considering getting one of them.  I highly recommend them.

I went to the PetSmart in search of help for my crazy anxious rescue dog problem and walked straight to the vet counter. I just said that I had a question and immediately the vet ( blonde and pregnant) came out to help.  I explained my doggy issues and without hesitation she kindly offered to help me find what she would suggest in PetSmart. She was very friendly and had great suggestions while spending about 20 min showing and explaining all her ideas. She made all my stress about my doggy problems melt away. This was the best experience that I have ever had at a animal store feeling like I had a personal vet with all the answers! Read Less
