Eastgate Animal Hospital

Cincinnati, Ohio
General Info
Eastgate Animal Hospital in Cincinnati delivers pet care based on daily behavioral patterns where animals show morning energy levels followed by midday caution and evening relaxation which reflects how Ohio households operate daily. The medical facility meticulously scrutinizes entry posture alongside sound sensitivity and pacing patterns together with focal behavior. Examinations of pets by veterinarians adhere to the animal response cycle: practitioners inspect ears and teeth during curiosity phases and perform abdominal checks or joint evaluations during calm periods. Pet owners must report minute changes including their pets' resting spots in the house and meal approaches as well as any extended time spent near doors or soft surfaces. Eastgate Animal Hospital performs diagnostic assessments age-specific physical exams and preventative health screenings alongside gastrointestinal stabilization and endocrine treatments while also providing surgical preparation and postoperative reflection routines. The scheduling of appointments can either be full-service or divided into two shorter visits based on pet temperament and caregiver availability. The medical staff determines task prioritization through behavioral readiness instead of checklists, adjusting their work to align with pets’ pacing and touch thresholds. Families receive debriefs based on the pet’s daily rhythm—what symptoms are time-bound which behaviors emerge after stimulation and how to watch for rebalancing. The use of text check-ins alongside pacing charts and adaptable timelines ensures follow-up procedures remain anchored in the pet's emotional state rather than solely clinical standards. Cincinnati families and Ohio residents receive pet healthcare from Eastgate Animal Hospital which matches the authentic living patterns of pets in real home environments throughout the day.

I will never take my dog here again. After waiting in the small room for 15 minutes (yes I was there on time for my appointment), a young man walked in and without saying anything to me or my dog or letting my dog sniff him, stuck a needle in my dog's butt. He literally just walked in and stuck the needle. With no surprise, he startled my dog who barked at him. The young man then completely over-reacted, told me that my dog was male aggressive, made me put a muzzle on him, and then said I needed to wait for the female veterinarian to finish the exam, and then left. After FORTY FIVE MINUTES, of waiting in that small room with my dog being completely nervous, wearing a muzzle which he definite didn't like, a female came in and with no surprise he did not like her either. That is because he is NOT male aggressive. He is around males all the time including my husband, father, brother, etc. and he loves everyone. Every time I take him to the dog park he goes to all the people at the dog park to get petted more than he plays with the other dogs. Everyone is always telling me how sweet he is and what a good dog he is. He never barks or growls at ANYONE. But I guess these GENIUSES at the Eastgate Animal Hospital think it is best to surprise the animal with pain and then are for some reason get surprised themselves when the animal doesn't like it. Don't blame the dog for your ignorance. Maybe try letting them sniff you, talk to them, and pet them first. OH AND DO YOU THINK PUTTING A MUZZLE ON THEM AND LOCKING THEM IN A SMALL ROOM FOR 45 MINUTES IS GOING TO MAKE MATTERS BETTER - GUESS WHAT - ITS NOT! If a human, goes to the doctor for something. Does the doctor walk in and jab a needle in your arse without a "Hello", a "How are you doing"? Are you going to flinch, back up, yell out, or try to defend yourself as an automatic response? Probably. I have since been going to another veterinarian, and have had no problems. With that said, the problem is clearly the lack of your knowledge and professionalism, not my dogs. Read Less

While I was caring for a stray cat and her two kittens, I noticed that their tongues and gums had no color. I called and made an appointment to have them seen. It was an hour of waiting before the vet came in. I could hear a discussion in the hallway about taking a recheck first. The vet was not the least bit helpful. Said it could be feline lukemia or fleas and sent us on our way after charging me $70. One of the kittens died 12 hours later. I was able to find better information online to save the other kitten than I got from the vet. So, thanks for nothing. Read Less

Be Aware and Ask questions! While the Vets (Dr Goode and others) do seem nice, you may want to be aware that while this facility calls itself a Hospital, and they say they offer ""complete care"", i suggest you ask a lot of questions about exactly what your animal will be subjected to. for instance, they may suggest your pet will be monitored overnight, but ask if they have anyone on the premises who will physically be checking on the animals and at what times are they there?. you may be surprised. If your pet is being admitted for an overnight stay and you feel they should receive supervision, i personally suggest asking where you can get that type of care. It's my experience and opinion you will NOT find it here. I don't know what the rules are for naming a business, but i've always thought the term Hospital implied patients receiving 24 hour supervision in case of emergencies, but in reality, this must not be the case. My suggestion is naming it correctly, or at least something that does not give the wrong message. Is it a clinic or a care center? i don't know..but from my perspective, it is not a Hospital. Just my opinion. My dog passed away at this facility recently and only afterwards did i find out about the lack of staffing at night....and no...it's not even in the fine print for the waivers you sign. Neither my dog nor myself received much in the way of dignified treatment the I thought would be part of a HOSPITAL>i wish I had asked and i also wish the staff had given me the option to take my pet to a facility that offers that more complete supervision and care. I dont know that i will ever get over the fact I did not ask, and for me whats worse ....they did not tell me or offer -- that other care options were available and probably in order. The vet said they would monitor my dog overnight and for me, that sure implies they have ""complete care"" and staff on premises to check on the patients, but my interpretation was not right. Additionally, and to my horror, i later discovered dogs are considered ""property"" thus all vets and hospitals only liability appears to be that of replacement costs (value to replace the ""property"" (an animal of similar age/type/health) at most. Am I the only one disturbed by this? Read Less

I recently took my beloved dog to east-gate animal hospital for back issues. She has been very uncomfortable and at this time can not walk. Dr. Phillips was the first person I talked to at the Hospital and he was wonderful. He called me back asap and worked with me on payments for Sandy since her treatment was estimated at a very high price. When I had my surgery consulate at the Hospital for Sandy I saw Dr. Frick. He was Wonderful! He explained all of our options for Sandy and was so optimistic about her recovering it helped minimize the stress of losing Sandy. He never even mentioned the option of putting her to sleep, her which the 3 other vets I saw did and there pricing was outrageous. Although that is a option of course if there is nothing we can do for her and suffering is not an option. The other vets were nice and very highly recommended but would not work with you if you have income issues. Only option they offered was CareCredit and not everyone is eligible for that service which still leaves the person in a bind on how to care for there beloved pet.

I recommend East-gate animal hospital to anyone! Wonderful Staff and overall wonderful Place to take your animals! Read Less
