The staff was friendly. However I was charged $90 for a bandage that didn’t even last the car ride home. They offered to do it more “aggressively” if I were to return, but I didn’t feel like continuing my cat’s traumatic evening. Instead I went home and did the bandage myself, and everything is working out perfectly. It’s amazing to me that I am more knowledgeable about bandaging a cat’s broken foot on the first attempt than someone who went through years of school for this specific trade, but hey, it’s not like it’s the first time our society’s education system let us down. Other than knowing an amateur is more skilled than the veterinarian, I have no complaints about the place other than their lack of ability and accountability. Read Less

I was hesitant to take my dog to the vet when he hurt his foot because I was worried about the bill for emergency services. However, I was extremely pleased when the vet did not recommend unnecessary procedures after doing a thorough examination on him. I feel like any other vet would be happy to charge me for an unneccessary x-ray or "overnight observation" but she did not. After the exam she felt as though he only needed some anti-inflammatory and rest. It is now the next day and my dog is doing great. Read Less

I first brought my dog here last year for PT on his left CCL, which was partially torn. Shawn (the therapist) talked to me about the options - PT packages, surgery. I opted to try PT first and bought one of the packages. After the last PT appointment Malcolm got another eval. Unfortunately the PT wasn't working well enough and I decided to go forward with TTA which was done by Dr. Maritato. Lucky for me I have insurance for Malcolm. The doctor went over the various surgery options and I spoke to Malcolm's regular vet for her opinion as well on which to get. Malcolm is active and still a young guy so I chose to do the TTA. Everything went great. It was right around Thanksgiving 2017. Dr. Maritato was fantastic about answering my questions via email - even on Thanksgiving day he answered my email very quickly. I just dropped him off again this morning for surgery on the right CCL. Another TTA of course. I have never felt like my dog didn't matter or that he was not being treated well or that any of the staff wasn't trained properly. Everyone I've dealt with has been just great. I work in the insurance industry, so I'm quite aware that a specialist is always more expensive - and I'm fine with that if the specialist knows what they're doing. If you go to an ER you'll be paying a lot more than you would if you just made an appointment with your PCP. So I get it. As long as my dog and I are being treated with respect and professionalism I'm happy. So in this case I'm very happy. I'll call them multiple times today to check on my boy - just like I did in November last year - and every time I called I talked to a friendly person who was very understanding and helpful. I can say they were there when the regular vet was closed but every treatment has an extremely high price tag. They won’t help you unless you have the money up front and all they seem to say is we understand it’s a lot of money. They wanted $1500 to watch my cat for 5 hours without giving her any real treatment. Try to get your pet to your local vet at the earliest sign of distress. It’s better for both of you. I understand we need this type of place but their greed takes away the deed of helping animals. Read Less

We had high hopes for our Border collie Pi's first litter. When her first pup became stuck in the birth canal, we went to MedVet Cincinnati at midnight. They offered immediate evaluation, emergency c-section, with Mom and all pups recovered and doing well. As a retired veterinarian, I appreciate the quality of the care. As a client waiting in the waiting room into the wee hours of the morning, I appreciate the kind and caring techs and receptionists. Thanks to Drs. Christy, Miller, Schwartz, and the support staff that night! I'm very grateful you were there to help my sweet girl! And of course the puppies, one of which will be my future sheepdog partner! My husband and I are incredibly impressed with the care our sweet pup, Ginger, has received thus far! Honestly, we were a bit skeptical as this is a large facility and we thought our dog/we would be lost in the masses of patients coming in. That was NOT the case! We were first-time clients as of just over a week ago, thinking we were bring in our 12.5 year old lab/pit mix for possible ACL reconstruction consult. That day, we found out through MedVet, that Ginger has bone cancer. They were SO thorough, patient, and kind with both us and our pup. From the front desk, to the nurses, techs, intern vets, and our surgeon (Dr. Susanna Schwartz)- everyone has truly been a blessing with work with. They made us all feel like a priority and were incredibly sympathetic and sensitive to our surprising situation; they were all good active listeners and good educators (which we truly appreciate being health care practitioners ourselves; we know how important it is to have your provider explain and communicate plan of care to you and loved ones). They worked without pause to get Ginger screened the same day and all of her pre-op work done ASAP, and Ginger was fit in - no questions or hesitation- within 24 hours for her left rear leg amputation. Already we are seeing our pup come back to life with markedly less pain and more personality - much like she had prior to her health decline - thanks to the care and intervention she received through MedVet. We had been specifically referred to Dr. Schwartz and she was beyond worth the referral to see. They are all so attentive and positive and professional, even when we have had to call once overnight and to connect with the ER staff regarding a concern for our pup. While we hate the circumstances under which Ginger is now going to continue receiving care due to her cancer, we couldn't be more pleased with the care she's received and we are grateful to MedVet for buying us some quality time left with our number one fur child. Last night we rushed my cat to MedVet due to concerns of kidney or urinary complications. The diagnosis we received was so much worse. We discovered that our 1 year old cat Leo had FIP. We decided to spare him any more pain and suffering caused by this incurable virus and put him to sleep. This all happened betweeb approximately 10PM -1AM on a Sunday night/Monday morning. The staff were incredible... So caring and compassionate. I cannot thank them enough for giving us support through this difficult time. We were able to hold our baby while he was put to sleep. They gave us his body in a little box to bury and even took a stamp of his paw for us. The doctor, I believe Dr. Hayes was her name, she is fantastic. She told us exactly what to expect and took the time to make sure we really understood all of our options and what our baby was going through. They also allowed me to open a credit account at the desk to finance these sudden, unexpected expenses. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you to the incredible staff at MedVet. The staff at MedVet took wonderful care of our baby on two separate occasions- first when she had bilateral CCL tears, and then when she needed an episioplasty to correct recurring UTIs.  Both times we were of course very upset and concerned about the risks and what the eventual outcome would be, but both times they ended up making her as good as new.  The recovery time on the bilateral CCL repair was shorter than we had been told (although of course we partly attribute that to her being such a tough girl!), and the episioplasty went smoothly as well. She has not had a UTI since.Four stars and not five because of the cost.  I'll continue to take her here if- God forbid- we need any more surgery in the future, because I feel very good about leaving her in their competent hands.  But although I personally feel blessed to be able to provide that type of care for her, I still recognize that the price tag can get extremely large.  Worth it, no doubt.  But prohibitively expensive for many, and being an animal lover, that is a little sad.I am extremely grateful for the expert care of Dr. Schwartz and all of the other staff who operated on our girl and kept her safe and as comfortable as possible during her stays.  Here's hoping that we don't need to use their services in 2017 like we did in 2016. We brought our dog to MedVet when it became apparent that she needed major surgery. Through the whole process of admitting her to the various tests and then surgery, they kept me informed in the kindest, gentlest manner possible. When the surgeon called us to give us our options, which unfortunately ended up being euthanasia, (absolutely not their fault. Cancer is sneaky, devastating, and horrible) she was so kind and understanding of my sobbing and all my questions. When we went back to see our pup one last time, the whole staff remembered us and was so sweet and accommodating to my husband and me. It's hard to review Medvet center. Obviously reviewing it is bittersweet because if you have been here, you know it's not for good healthy well checks on your pet.Dermatology: 5 stars. We were originally referred to medvet for my ding dong dog who had an allergy issue. After trying a few different things, nothing helped and we were eventually prescribed a medication that had done wonders for our four-legged baby. Emergency: 3 stars. Although they did help our baby after she was lethargic and non-responsive. They kept her overnight for 2 nights, which is fine since she needed the help but communication was poor. No one contacted me to let me know what was going on except for them to tell me that the 2 nights and fluids was going to be $1350! Price: 3 stars. I know when your pet had issues you will pay anything and maybe they know that and that's why their rates are so high. But this is by far the most expensive vet I have ever been to! Read Less

I hated this place. No one introduced themselves as to who they were when talking to me and giving me info so I always had to ask. I thought the woman with tattoos on her chest and wrists was the vet tech but it was the veterinarian herself. I didn't know what was wrong with my dog and it turns out they didn't either yet they brought up the word "cancer" and tried to play on my fears and guilt me into spending lots of money on testing. They are unethical and I don't know why this facility isn't investigated. People in other fields are monitored all the time by administrative agencies (attorneys, physicians, bankers), why aren't they? I ended up paying $400 with no answers. Went to a regular vet and was told my dog just had dry skin. I'm seriously considering filing a complaint. They totally take advantage of people's emotions. When I said something about the amount to a vet tech she put her finger up not her lips in a "shhh" motion and said: "don't say anything too loud about the amount or they'll suddenly find hidden charges". They get a star for being open and a star for being on my side of town. Otherwise, worthless. Read Less

Unethical and incompetent would be the best two words to describe the quality of service provided by Medvet. I was lied to about the prognosis of my cat named Gabriel from the receptionist who had no idea what she was talking about almost spending thousands of dollars as I thought Gabriel would have a chance to live. The truth was, the lab results of his potassium levels represented Gabriel was going into kidney failure and was in critical condition. I almost suffered the financial burden and heartache of Gabriel living only to suffer more and die. On top of all this, the staff went ahead and performed an echocardiogram without my permission trying to charge me ~$330 more. There was absolutely no reason for them to perform this when I informed the staff I needed a bit of time to think of spending the $1800-2200 for all the diagnostic testing and treatment in a 1 hour time span. They even had the nerve to still try to charge me partial amount for the heart echo after telling them I wasn't going to pay it. If you love your pets please don't take them to Medvet. To give some additional background, my cat was already being treated from Grady's animal hospital and brought over to see a vet cardiologist from Medvet. My sister brought my cat over while I was out of town and signed a document to allow further diagnostic testing and treatment. However, I was in close contact with the staff and very specifically specified to not go forward yet as it was a lot of money and the costs of future treatments and possible surgery. Read Less

I had to go there the other night for the second loss of my second cat, my Family, in less than a year. They were just as comforting, as kind, as accomodating, as caring as they were the first time with my girl. Dr Jeff Smith, Katie and Erika were helpful, supportive, quiet and so comforting. Even brought my boy a drink of water we asked for and they had a blanket for him to be cuddled in although we used our own. They were so kind and so sweet, and they gave me as much time as I needed with my boy before I had to let go. I highly recommend MedVet, and they have always done a good job... I was very happy when MedVet opened its Cincinnati location and was able to return my cancer dog to her original oncologist in 2011. MedVet has been nothing but professional to me and my pets. I expect a high standard of care for a specialty and emergency practice, and that is what I get. I also get a partnership with the veterinarians who have examined and treated my pets.
