We have lost 3 precious babies because of the Proheart 6 shots. At no time were we informed of the deadly side effects that this heart worm medication can cause (it was pulled from the market once for this reason). All 3, whom were otherwise healthy dogs, died of the same causes: cardiopulmonary edema which resulted in embolisms and death. I'm disgusted by RBVH's total disregard for potential deadly side effects of this drug and their withholding of that information while suggesting this as a viable option! You think you're doing your babies a favor by keeping them safe. You are not. How tragically unnecessary. If you care anything about animals RBVH, you will cease promoting and using this medication immediately. Read Less

I decided on RBVH back in January 2014 because they're one of the only clinics in the area who offer puppy and kitten packages ($350 for spay/neuter, 2 sick visits, and 6 months of flea and heartworm meds). The staff has been overall pretty nice, and they have been able to get my dog in the same day I called for appointments. Elethia usually does a good job with grooming, but sometimes misses spots and always forget to trim my dog's dew claw. The only two complaints I have are that the small lobby always smells strongly of litterbox, and the receptionist, Hilary, always calls my dog "her" (he's a boy!) even though I've been going there for over a year now. The staff at the front counter was friendly and the first few times I took my dog here I was pretty pleased.  It does smell overwhelmingly like dirty animals, but it's a vet so I get that.  There were also many dogs kept on site that were constantly barking. After a while I started to notice my dog getting more and more skittish about going here. The waits got longer and longer before the vet would see us and most of the procedures were done in the back office.  More often than not, they would come get my dog from the exam room, drag her back in the back, I'd hear her yelping and then they'd bring her back and bill me for services they said they performed. My visits always felt rushed and my questions were never answered.  I understand that there are some procedures that need to be done in a different room, but those ought to be few and far between.  The worst thing in the world is to bring in your healthy dog only to watch her be dragged into a back room where you can hear her yelping and then to get little explanation. The last straw was when I happened to have an appointment at the same time that there was some sort of clinic going on.  The waiting room was packed shoulder to shoulder, with people and their dogs sandwiched in too close and the vet rushed through my visit, barely letting me get a word in.  I was charged for a list of services that I had to trust that they performed, as I saw none of them. The staff in the front office are super sweet and helpful, but the rest of my experience with this vet made me decide to go elsewhere for the care of my animals. Read Less

Dr . Ryan was not very gentle with my cats. He would handle them very rough, and he was not very friendly. Not only that, he belittled my questions and made me feel like they were inferior or stupid. That was my issue before I had to put my cat down. I took my cat there for a breathing problem. Dr. Ryan took x-rays. He is a vet, he knew right away that my cat had congenial heart disease. All he said was "Take these xrays to Medvet across the street" and would not answer any of my questions. I flat out asked "is my cat going to be ok?" and he wouldn't answer it directly.
