I have struggled to find a vet's office that I love, and I've finally found one! All of the staff at Belvoir have been kind to me, my children, and (of course) our dogs. Dr. Izanec has gone above and beyond for us during our puppy's neuter--she called me several times to let me know when he woke up from the surgery and to give me detailed instructions re: his medication. She also gave us realistic expectations for weight loss for a senior dog, and has been overwhelmingly positive during his visits--including instructing the techs on how to handle him due to his fear of the office/procedures. I don't think that the office is overly expensive--veterinary costs are high everywhere. It's important to find the right fit and I'm so glad that we found Belvoir Pet Hospital. Read Less

Dr. Banta was my vet. no complaints. I had a urine test done for my dog because he was drinking a lot. I didn't get a morning sample so the protein level was high . Dr Banta ordered blood work. Since he wasn't in the day of blood work results he had Dr. Izanec call with results. They came back good . But she began to tell me we needed to do a biopsy. I said Dr. Banta never mentioned it He said we could wait six weeks for another sample .I was getting nervous so I called the receptionist 2 weeks later on a Friday and said I was going to bring a morning sample on Monday. Well Monday morning came I got sample but my dog knocked it out of my hands . So Tuesday morning came got sample ran it in .Receptionist seemed confused as to why I wanted it done. I explained everything. Dr Banta wasn't there . So she left the desk for a minute and Dr Izanec came out furious as to why I wanted this done .I explained . She said I told you on the phone we need a biopsy. I explained what Dr. Banta wanted I talked to Dr Banta previously and said he didn't want to go that way. She was outrageous and rude with me, threw the chart down and said do it. I told receptionist forget it, I should not be treated like that and left. The next day Dr. Banta called to apologize, said I should not have been treated like that. I told him to get my records ready and I was going to come and get them . He again apologized . I'd been looking for a new veterinarian for a little while. We'd been going to Banfield for a long time, but were frustrated with the turnover in their staff. I reached out to friends with pets, read through loads of reviews, and checked recommendations on NextDoor. I decided to give the folks at Belvoir Pet Hospital a shot. And could not be happier with them after my first visit. We arrived and were greeted very warmly by Lauri. There was an emergency situation, so I was told that there might be a bit of a delay, which wasn't a problem at all, as I understand that emergencies happen, especially with regards to animal care. I settled in and expected to wait for a while, especially since I was a bit early. After a few minutes though, I was brought back to see Dr Farkas rather than Dr Tree. Dr Farkas was very thorough, very professional, and incredibly sweet with my dog, who tends to get nervous during vet visits. Dr Farkas answered all questions I had and was very, very informative with regards to vaccinations, flea, tick and heartworm preventatives, and dental care. Once Loki was up to date and had his bloodwork done, he was brought back to me by Selina, who was a complete sweetheart. The checkout process was quick and painless, and Lauri was sure to remind me about procedures for the preventatives that I'd gotten for Loki. If this visit is any indication of the service that Belvoir Pet Hospital offers, I'm absolutely sure we'll be seeing Dr Farkas and the team here for a very long time! Read Less

As a long time client of the Belvoir Pet Hospital, I couldn't be happier with the care that my cats have received here.  We actually took our cats here when I was a kid, when Dr. Farkas' parents ran this practice.  Dr. Joseph Farkas has done a fantastic job of expanding the practice, and bringing in other great vets.  Much has changed over the years, but I appreciate Dr. Farkas' thorough approach with each visit, letting me know what to look out for since all three cats are seniors, and bringing in different specialists when needed (I have a cat with hyperthyroid/cardiomyopathy/dental issues, one with skin allergies, and a third with an abnormal kidney).  Dr. Farkas is excellent with outlining various options, he's transparent about cost, and I appreciate his honesty.  He is also compassionate, as he guided me through my former cat's cancer in a way that was realistic (our options were limited), and helpful (he gave me advice on when it would be time to let go).   I have seen Dr. George Banta, who is truly gifted with cats and knows his stuff; Dr. Izanic (sp), who was also effective; Dr. Chris Laskin, a dental expert, and Dr. Laurel Tree, who is very sharp.I have also gotten to know the desk staff well over the years, and they are professional and kind. One of the reviews mentions the hours. The reason for the break during the day (11:30-2:00) is that the veterinarians perform their surgical operations during that time.  They are open 6 days a week, however. Finally, I had a recent experience at Metropolitan Veterinary Hospital in Akron (I was referred), and its always good to hear great things about one's vet from an objective source. To me, they were all justified. Read Less

We started our adventure into sharing a house with cats without a plan - we found a stray in a park area (actually she found us) and the rest, as they say, is history.I asked some friends and neighbors for recommendations and many pointed us to Dr. Joe Farkas at Belvoir Pet Hospital. And I have recommended him to others. He stays on top of the latest research and trends, and offers good advice and care. Most of the support staff are also very good. Our first adoptee was difficult from day one. Her adopted brother learned her habits and added some of his own (and based on his reactions to things I believe he was probably abused). They have forgotten their roots and are very finicky, and difficult, and despite me lecturing them on the way, they are not happy to go there. Dr. Laurel Tree was kurt and condescending. My cat had an abnormal test for pancreatitis and she did not suggest or order the next test to find out actual levels. She was not warm with my animal and I did not feel taken care of AT ALL by her. I left every interaction with her in an agitated state.  I have since moved to Rainbow Pet Clinic on Noble and feel my cat is being taken care of, treated for pain, and Dr. Mitchell over there is caring and listens.I am so sorry I ever stepped foot in the door of this vet's office. I don't know how Dr. Farkas is, he was the one recommended but he wasn't available.  I do not recommend Dr. Tree. The receptionist Megan seems to always have a dour look on her face and is not particularly welcoming.  Lori at the front desk is wonderful. Dr. Sr. Farkas has taken care of our family's many, many pets for 3 generations. He seems to care about them as much as we do. He's involved with numerous rescue operations. When we have to put a pet down, he is a huge source of comfort. In case of emergency he has been most accommodating in getting a pet into the hospital. I'd have to say that ""Dr. Joe Sr."" is practically part of the family. There's no vet to whom I can give a stronger recommendation. Did I mention he has a sense of humor, and that his son Dr. Joe Jr. has joined the practice? That said, I would love to see the waiting room expanded to allow a little more room between animals of different temperaments. Staff and 'patients' and customers are all just a little bit too crammed together sometimes. Read Less

The amazing thing to me about the docs at Belvoir Pet Hospital is their genuine care for animals. The care is first rate. What sets Belvoir Pet Hospital apart from others are three things: 1) They have made time to see us when our pet was sick and we ""walked in""; 2) the docs make follow-up calls to check on the pet (really!); and 3) they are accredited by the American Animal Hospital Assn. Only 36,000 vets have this accreditation and it speaks to me of the high quality of care they offer. Read Less

I have dealt with all of the vets, and they are all wonderful. I have a very difficult cat (she hisses and goes crazy at the vet) but they have all been able to handle her well and somehow, have calmed her down. The big problem is that the waiting room is waaaay to small to have both cats and dogs waiting, and I stopped going here after a huge akita stuck her face into my cat's cage, hugely traumatizing her. The front desk staff is rather unfriendly but not a deal breaker. Read Less

I love Belvoir Pet Hospital. I take my cat to Dr. Tree and she is so friendly and sweet. All of the staff are really attentive and you can tell they love what they do. I would recommend Dr. Tree to anyone. The only complaint I have is that it's sometimes hard to get through on the phone. I still wouldn't take my kitty anywhere else! Read Less

I have been going there my entire life. As a youngster with our family pet, and now with my own dogs. A caring veterinary team who is like family!

A vet should be able to treat pets with different personalities; just like a doctor has to be mentally prepared for patients of different personalities.  I have a rescued dog and it was abused badly before adopted.  Dr. Farkas is only nice to well behaved pets, he does not have patience for abused/scared animals.  He acted really annoyed with my pet and I will never go back again. We've been using Belvoir Pet Hospital for over 20 years - won't go anywhere else! Exceptional vet care! We see Dr Farkas Jr and Sr...you can't go wrong with either of them! I've found the office and tech staff to be extremely friendly and helpful - absolutely no problems there! We moved out of the heights area about 10 years ago, but we still head back to Belvoir for all our vet care - it's worth the drive for us. Read Less

Dr.

Read Less
