Love love love that Dr Liz! They should call her the common sense vet. I don't feel like I'm getting my pet tested for everything under the sun, just reasonable, pertinent testing to get to the root of the problem. She's so awesome. Waited only an hour yesterday. Last time less than 15 mins. Seem to be able to time it right. Wait time does not seem long once you look at each pet owner and how they interact with their pet. I was very pleased with the wait time, staff and price of $61.50. Which included examine and medication. My cat had a leaking eye and sneezing. Took her to the vet because after 3 days it had gotten worse and she rubbed it a lot. I first took my dog here when he had been getting sick. They were able to treat him and the next day he was as good as new. They are professional, caring and great at handling the animals. You can make appointments or walk in but there may be a long wait if you do that. The gals out front handling the droves of people and pets do a wonderful job. Overall everyone from the vets, tech's and office personnel have treated my pup and me very well. We are getting ready to go back for a check up soon. I also find that some of their charges are more reasonable then at other vet's which helps a lot as I am on a fixed budget. Read Less

Veterinary cause has become a ridiculous, ridiculous thing. However amongst the vets, Gateway Animal Clinic, is the more reasonable. The staff is very caring. The new location is beautiful. Gateway is close to my house but not my regular vet. I have gone here for stray cats that I'm caring for only for the proximity and cost. I'm not always sitting on an abundant bank account. At Gateway, I've gone in and said hey, I have $X to spend, and they do what they can for that price. What's more, they've given freebies on top of that, so there can't be any complaint there. Gateway is a walk-in clinic, first come first serve BUT... they do offer early morning appointments for a slightly additional cost. To me that's worth it not to have to wait in the often packed waiting area with a scared, sick cat in a carrier. Read Less

Excellent! I appreciate they make every attempt to keep costs low. The Drs are really knowledgeable and make an effort to explain their diagnosis and rationale for treatment. They do offer some appointments if waiting is too stressful for your pet. I recommend this place to everyone. Read Less

Aside from the expected long wait time at a first come, first serve walk-in clinic, I love gateway. They have given my dog great care. This hospital group has always been helpful and truly cares for animals, big and small. Although the wait can be tough, they make it clear that they are a walk-in/no appointment location. So personally I don't mind. I would do anything for my animals and so would they. For being the most affordable place in the area, they take care of pets as fast as they can. I love Dr. Liz Sobel! She has been my vet for the past 17yrs on and off... well the off was because I worked at another hospital! But over the last few yrs we got back together with rescue work animals and my own misfits.. I can't explain the love and passion that her, her techs and staff have !! Love the staff and doctors at Gateway!! I take my kitty with mouth issues there since they performed her extraction 2 years ago. They were able to review her mouth compared to her chart, decided she didn't need additional extractions but just a steroid and long acting antibiotic. If I didn't live over 1/2 hour away, all my vet care would be through them! Read Less

A Very unsatisfying first visitthe tech & tbe check in lady were wonderful, but unfourtantly they were not who my baby were there to see.. Dr. Nikki was over whelmed with the size of my nervous rescue English mastiff that was abused!!! Now not only am I left without questions being answered, $$ in my pocket, I am concerned she listed my poor girl as agressive!! My girl never once opened her mouth or even lifted a lip..She only twisted & shook her head & the muzzle was put on.. Maybe someone can tell me is that unnormal & does that qualify as aggresive?? or am I just spoiled by having Dr. Jackson from Midpark Animal clinic in Middleburghts? Either way I contacted my lawyer in hopes to find out that is not the case & she will not be labeled aggressive.. More $$$ stress & time all due to a lack of sensitivity to a Big scared teddy bear!! My babie went from kissing the tech to getting scared out of her mind by a doctor who didn't take a minute to even pet her:( It's very disappointing because I have heard Dr. Nikki is a very Vet ... We had our cat seen by Gateway medical clinic in Cleveland. They refused to re-mediate the pain that was still there after charging us over $400 and removing most of Salem's teeth. Their solution was to come in and spend more money instead of ensuring that Salem's pain was gone ans that their service was actually valuable instead of just unnecessary surgery. ALL they do is play a guessing game that costs A LOT of money and treat your pet like a number in a warehouse. They don't care about your pets only money!. NEVER use them! Read Less

Last week. my 11 year old cat ate plastic Easter grass. I didn't discover this until I saw him 'passing' it. He was very sick with diarrhea, was refusing food and water, and stopped grooming. I took him to the closest walk-in clinic I could find and had a terrible experience. It was filthy, and the vet did not do a proper assessment. He took an x-ray and said my cat had peritonitis (which can be fatal) due to either kidney failure, liver failure, or heart disease. This seemed really odd to me. My cat had been FINE, until he ate the grass. This vet also said he would likely need to open him up and do exploratory surgery on his bowels, but that there wasn't much he could do for the peritonitis. So he sent me home with instructions to bring him back if he didn't improve. I left thinking that at best, my guy would need surgery, and that I might have to put him down b/c of this peritonitis thing. Also, this vet office was filthy! (Euclid Veterinary Clinic...don't go!) For these and other reasons (see my other review under their page if you are curious), I sought a second opinion at Gateway. Gateway came highly recommended by no less than 10 of my friends when I put an APB on Facebook. I can see why! The new facility is terrific. Huge, clean, and attractive waiting area. Busy but polite desk-staff. It's a walk-in clinic. The hours on their phone said they open at 10am. I got there at 9:55, and the lobby was full. They must open their doors earlier. At 5 mins. to opening, I was #18. The wait was approx. 30 minutes...not too bad. I imagine it gets much longer. I was encouraged to look around the room and see lots of well cared for pets and many expensive breeds. The other customers seem to cherish their animals, so that reflects well that Gateway is their choice of vet. Dr. Tim saw my cat. He did a thorough assessment, asking me relevant questions, and examined my cat. Dr. Tim is a straight-shooter, no nonsense sort of guy....which I appreciate. Just give it to me straight. His appearance and demeanor was very professional and confident. Not surprisingly, Dr. Tim did not concur with the diagnosis I received in Euclid. He said the x-ray showed ""NO EVIDENCE of peritonitis"". He said ""Your cat does not have excessive fluid surrounding his organs...he is just a fat cat"". What a relief!! Further, he stated that surgery or any other invasive measures at this point would be premature and unnecessary. He said ""he is not in bad shape"", especially because he resumed eating and grooming the night before. I felt completely reassured and confident that I received quality care and advice. I went from believing I might have to put my pet down to feeling like he is going to be ok. The office visit was $39. My entire bill was approx. $80 dollars after administering an antibiotic and giving me special food to encourage his eating/pooping. Although we did not need one, the vet said that x-rays here are approx $65 here....I paid $95 the day before. I am told that Gateway receives funding so that they can offer treatments and services more cheaply than vets you'll find in the suburbs. But unlike other places where you get what you pay for, the quality of care here is exceptional! The vet tech and young lady who took my payment were terrific as well. The vet tech stuck around to explain things to me and reiterate what Dr. Tim said to make sure it was clear and understood. He also seemed to really enjoy the animals around him, which is always nice! At last, I have found a vet office that I LOVE. Won't go anywhere else ever again. Read Less

I LOVE this clinic. The docs are great and so is the service and all at a relative affordable price when compared to so many other places. I love the fact that you don't need an appt. You just show up and they work you in. This is quite helpful because pets rarely do things on human time and often at other places, they cannot get your pet in that day. I brought a stray kitten in who had been in some sort of an accident. The staff in the reception area could not have been any kinder or empathetic. While the clinic was busy, the animals were taken in quickly and we did not have to wait long until it was our turn. I was confident in Dr. Brian's assessment of our kitten and, sadly, he was too injured to be saved. They humanely euthanized the kitten and gave us time (and lots of kleenex) to say goodbye. Everyone at Gateway made this sad experience as bearable as possible and we are very grateful to have been referred to them. We plan on bringing our own pets to Gateway. Read Less

My dog was hit by a car and I took him to Rocky River Animal hospital. They said he had no broken bones just a few cuts. Told me he would need to stay the night and get stitches at approx. $800. Gateway was our normal vet for him so we decided to hold off the night and take him to Dr. Bob the next morning. Rocky River charged us $289 for the emergency visit and pain med to get him through the night. The next day we took him to Gateway and Dr. Bob told us the cuts were not deep enough for stitches and they would heal on thier own. Sure enough two weeks later our "Buddy" was good as new like nothing had ever happened. Thank you for not ripping us off Dr. Bob and Gateway! We love u! Read Less

I brought my cat to Gateway for a 4 paw declaw and Dr. McClain did a wonderful job. However when I went to pick my cat up the next day the receptionists said she had to stay an extra night because she had a 4 paw declaw. I told them I was told to pick my cat up today. They were very argumentative with me. They even made me sign a waiver saying my cat was lying in her own urine and feces crying in pain and I took her against her advice. When I got my cat she was totally fine! She was running around at home and not in any pain. They lied to me. If it weren?t for the wonderful Dr. McClain I would have had a nightmarish experience there. Read Less

Carol, the pharmacist, told me they would not sell me heart worm preventative medicine for my dogs unless I got them tested for heartworm. My sister goes there for her 2 dogs and affirmed this was false, not necessary to get them tested if you continue on the medicine. When I called back, another receptionist also confirmed that although it was recommended it was not a necessity. Isn't this a bit arm twisting to spend even more money? Read Less

I love Gateway Animal Clinic. I never wait for a specific Doctor - they are all friendly and good with my animals. You do have to wait - but the upside is you don't need an appointment. I have 3 cats and sometimes on ""vet day"" I have trouble cornering all 3 to bring them. Here I don't have to worry about an appointment. Just make sure you plan to wait - call ahead and they will let you know how busy they are. Dr Abbey even remembered my parent's dog and his story even though she was not the last one to work with him. I have never had a bad experience there and have been taking my animals there for at least 10 years. I would never take my four legged children to a Dr. I would not see myself - I trust all of the doctors there! We drive over 1/2 hour to go to Gateway. AND there prices are more reasonable then most vets, which is a big plus if you have multiple pets like I do! Read Less

The vets are great no matter which one you get. Sometimes you have to wait, expecially on the weekends but the prices are great, the vets will take time to confer with you about your pet and the staff are very pleasant. And its clean! Sure the place smells like animals, but not animal poo! My cats are 10 & 12 and when I go there, the vets remember their names before they remember mine :O) I have even taken in an injured stray and they nursed him to health and found him a home..you can't get better than that!
