General Info
Since our formation in 1955, Mayfield Pet Hospital has served the needs of tens of thousands of dogs and cats and their owners. In 2011, senior veterinarian and owner Dr. James Ringer retired and the practice was taken over by Dan Winger who has worked at Mayfield Pet Hospital for 26 years. As Dan says, “A lot of veterinarian practices can seem cold and can leave people with the feeling that they’re all about the money. That’s not what we’re about. At Mayfield Pet Hospital we know our clients well. They’re like family to us. We love dealing with our clients and taking care of their animals. There’s nothing more satisfying than a dog or cat coming in sick and going home licking your face.” Senior Veterinarian Dr. Nancy Hankins agrees: “We have a family feel here. We don’t want someone to feel like they’re in a hospital.” Dr. Jacyln Olson adds: “I love the client interaction and taking care of the animals. We treat them like our own.”

This is the most caring and hands on vet hosp you could ever take your furry friend to. My mother has been taking her pets here since she was a little girl and I have been doing the same all my life. We used to rescue feline leukemia cats and foster pitbulls and would frequently be up there for flea meds and misc things. Now we have several pets of our own that Mayfield Pet Hosp helps us care for and they do such a great job. They are not only great with our babies but with us too. They have definitely earned my loyalty.

I have just moved to this area from out of state, and went with Mayfield Pet Hospital because they were the close choice. Just after relocating, my elderly cat slid in health, and after several visit...
I have just moved to this area from out of state, and went with Mayfield Pet Hospital because they were the close choice. Just after relocating, my elderly cat slid in health, and after several visits to the Vet unfortunately she had to be put down. Based on my experience with them handling my cat in her final weeks, I would no longer say they were the close choice, MPH was the right choice.

Very good vet/animal hospital -- I've only been once, but I would recommend them. Professional doctors and staff. Very friendly and they genuinely seem interested in the wellbeing of my cat and my own background in pets.
One thing I should mention is that I came in one day with my cat, only to have them tell me that I needed an appointment, which I didn't know because it had never been indicated to me. Consider this an indication to future customers that walk-ins are not welcome and that you'll need an appointment if you want to be seen.
UPDATE: I took my cat here for 5 years until I moved and they were always wonderful. Highly recommended.

Finding Mayfield Pet Hospital for my furry family has been the best thing I could have done for them! Dr. Nancy Hankins & Dan Winger have taken care of our Charlie for 9 years now & our Moose for nearly 8 years. The entire staff is the most kind & caring bunch of animal-loving people I've ever known. They go out of their way to help our 90 lb. Moose & his needs, no matter if that means extra muscle on his visits or extra treats at the end! They are patient & helpful & everything you could possibly ask for when it comes to your 4-legged family.

This is the most amazing veterinary practice I have ever been to. They really care about your animals and understand your concerns about your pets health. They are caring, compassionate, and make you feel safe trusting your pet to them. My pets have received years of excellent care from Dan and Dr. Olson and I never hesitate to refer my friends to them.

I have been looking for you (a conscientious, top-notch veterinary practice) for years! I am so looking forward to continuing to build a relationship with you all, and we're off to a great start! I'm so glad my daughter (who works at an emergency vet) recommended you to me. She talks often with almost every vet in town, so I figured she could recommend the best! Excellent hospital . The Doctors and staff are very caring and compassionate. The building is older but very clean inside. The care they provide to my pets is incredible. The doctors and staff follow up quickly and are always there to answer questions. They are not affraid to refer me to a specialist if needed. Not the cheapest vet in town but I believe that you get what you pay for. I do not price shop for my own healthcare and will not for my pets. They are part of the family. I truly believe that Mayfield Pet Hospital CARES!!!

Screwed up the appointment, didn't have enough staff on hand. Then got a timid vet, wouldn't take care of a big dog because fearful even with muzzle on, and even had to muzzle a 15lb dog because of fear. After suggesting to re-schedule and give the large dog prozac then called to cancel appointment and rejected to service the large dog at all. Upon calling give owner more info about the details of the visit, commented on my husbands conceal to carry - completely off the subject. If you have an issue with that, place a sign on the door, as legally required by every establishment. Needless to say, glad we're finding another vet...if you can't treat veterans with respect, you don't deserve my business.

I have just moved to this area from out of state, and went with Mayfield Pet Hospital because they were the close choice. Just after relocating, my elderly cat slid in health, and after several visits to the Vet unfortunately she had to be put down. Based on my experience with them handling my cat in her final weeks, I would no longer say they were the close choice, MPH was the right choice.

Very good vet/animal hospital -- I've only been once, but I would recommend them. Professional doctors and staff. Very friendly and they genuinely seem interested in the wellbeing of my cat and my own background in pets.
One thing I should mention is that I came in one day with my cat, only to have them tell me that I needed an appointment, which I didn't know because it had never been indicated to me. Consider this an indication to future customers that walk-ins are not welcome and that you'll need an appointment if you want to be seen.
UPDATE: I took my cat here for 5 years until I moved and they were always wonderful. Highly recommended.
