I just love everyone at Oak Tree Veterinary Hospital! I can't say enough great things about them! Since I got my rescue dog seven years ago, and upon adopting my boyfriends dog into the family, we have gone to Oak Tree. Everyone there is so friendly, helpful, and truly caring about my animals. Every time I call to make an appointment, they are not only kind, but their hours and availability of appointments are great with my often hectic schedule - something I really appreciate! The vet techs Karen and Rachel are so fantastic, and such an asset to the practice. I can tell they love their jobs, and that translates into the care they provide for my dogs! They always take the time to explain things to me, and give my dogs affection and attention to relax them. We always see Dr. Carlson, though once in a bind we saw Dr. Smith for an emergency (he was fantastic!). I am continually amazed with the high level of quality care that Dr. Carlson provides. Update: I decided to give Mandel Vet another chance and brought my two cats there for their annual physical and rabies vaccines. We had a good experience and will be returning next year. The staff were very kind and helpful, even helping carry my cats two and from my car. Dr. Scott Smith was very good with both of them, and made a towel hiding place on the table for my scaredy-cat so he could hang out while the other one had his exam. We have been seen by 2 different doctors at Mandel Vet for annual checkups/vaccinations/heartworm testing for our Great Dane and both have provided great service to us. Most recently, we saw Dr. Walker and I cannot say enough good things about her. Typically, our Dane has anxiety problems at the vet and does not do well if I'm not in the room, but the nurse was able to take her back for blood work without me and said she did great. Dr. Walker and the nurse spent plenty of introduction time with us, greeting our dog and helping her warm up to them, since she was visibly anxious. Our Dane was able to become the most at ease I've seen her at the vet in 5 years, thanks to this extra effort. Additionally, Dr. Walker listened to my concerns about a specific vaccine, took time to answer all my questions, and didn't try to offer me any services that she didn't think my dog needed (i.e. a dental cleaning, which I've felt that other vets have unnecessarly recommended). As a result of the blood sample taken from our dog's neck (which they usually take from her leg), our dog developed a hematoma, which disappeared before we left. We noticed it returned later that evening and called the office, which instructed us what to do. When we were concerned the next day that it might still be present, Dr. Walker encouraged us to drop by, even though the office was closing, so that she could personally take a look at it. It turned out that the hematoma was gone, but Dr. Walker graciously and patiently handled our drop-in, assuring us that she would rather us bring in our dog than be worried that something was wrong.
