This is usually my go to vet for more reasons then i care to count but prices are kinda high. (I do consider the location) about the only "bad" experience I remember having was a pretty steep jump in price for Surgurey (that never ended up needing done also turns out they would have found what they were trying to rule out....) And my wife and i just were not wiling to (litterally) pay the price due to current financial reasons. I'd definitely suggest looking into and asking about pet insurance and care card. They will help out. Great staff who are willing to go above and beyond to make sure you are more then well taken care of. Longest I've waited was right around 10-20 minutes getting there before they even opened. Read Less

Many years ago this was a premier vet office. No more. I will never trust the care of my dogs to these people again. They apparently used 17 pill pockets on two 12 year old dogs in four days of boarding... meaning that they overmedicated my dogs.I have, as of this morning, reconciled Bailey’s medication. They gave him the following between Monday night and Friday afternoon:3 rimadyl (bottle returned to me empty)12 hydroxine3 gabapentin20 tramadol.Mind you, these medications are PRN and if he takes one a month it is a big deal. We are headed to another vet this morning to run labs to see how this impacted his kidney function.I have reconciled Chocolate’s medication and they appear to have double dosed him twice on his daily enalapril. The shocking part of this all is that Veternarian Brown said that I should pay for medical boarding. That I cannot expect their staff to know when it is apparopriate to give pain or allergy medication. You will never have an opportunity to mistreat my dogs in such a manner again. Never. Read Less

Do not go here if you’re looking for a new home vet. First if all I was charged a full wellness exam which included 2 minutes of asking me why my dog was in there. She’s 1 year old and I was hoping for a full wellness checkup like I paid for. The vet seemed like she was uninterested and wanted to rush me out. My dog also had a itchy rash on her underside and she was being a little fussy, but the vet just gave me allergy meds and a spray ($50 worth) and weeks later she still has the rash which I now think is a bacterial infection (there was also no assistant to help with my dog) She didn’t ask about her diet, didn’t check for fleas. She had vaginitis as a puppy and I didn’t even get a chance to ask if it had gone away because the meeting was so short. I know my dog is also about 5 lbs overweight and I had to ask something I already knew in order to feel like this was worth it. I sat in the room after she left thinking there had to be someone else coming in to do a wellness evaluation, but nope. After that terrible visit I wanted to go to another vet but this one doesn’t offer payment plans so I had to pay out of pocket in order to NOT get any help. If you love your pets as much as I do and want a thorough exam I highly recommend trying somewhere else. Read Less

This place is amazing. They do everything from emergency surgeries (at half the price of Medvet) to annual vaccines with a complimentary comprehensive exam. They are always straight and honest and prices are fair. Receptionists are great, sometimes frazzled, but it's understandable when you realize they're techs with tons of duties. I've seen them go from dealing with an irate/emotional customer to helping with an emergency surgery and back so I cut them some slack. The vets I've seen are always kind and thorough. Read Less

Really boarder line 3. It’s hard to take away stars because the vet who has treated my kitten is great but office staff not great at all. After my last visit I’m extremely disappointment in front office staff. This office is mainly walk ins so sometimes you’re in and out and some times you have a wait- no problem. After telling the receptionist I have a 4 WEEK old kitten, kids in a big group preceded to walk in and out opening the door as if they were accepting a field trip that day. All these kids continued to walk in and out for no reason and were in a group with one animal. It was cold outside and my kitten was freezing to death and front desks did nothing about it. My kittens were in the freezing cold and I couldn’t take them out to warm them since other clients were basically letting their dogs walk all over. The staff was standing in the back because it was so cold in the front and would only come out to assist new clients walking in. So receptionist if you’re cold don’t you think a baby cat would be cold??? For a place that specializes in animal health no one at the front desk knows what that means. The doctor is great, always friendly always knowledgeable but please just change front desk staff. Read Less

I brought my dog here yesterday as a result of an injury. I explained to Dr. Durr that money was an issue for me and he spent some extra time and consulted the other vets to make sure we proceeded appropriately and as affordably as possible. I really appreciated his gentle "bedside manner"; he made my dog feel comfortable, helped me understand what was going on, and directed me towards a specialist in case that is the route we need to go.  This was my first experience with Bethel Animal Hospital (went based on a friend's recommendation), and would definitely go back in the future. The place was clean, the rest of the staff was also very friendly, and we were able to be seen after only waiting a few minutes.  Would recommend to others. This vet visit came free with the purchase of my puppy. I read the terrible reviews online but thought "ehhh... I'll give it a try since it's free." The veterinarian was absolutely awful. Every question I had (as a first time puppy owner) he answered with so much condescension. Not only that but he contradicted things that I had heard from other, very reputable family vets and books. Like I should be leaving food out at all times for my puppy and that he should have no socialization before 12 weeks (only out to go potty and right back in the house. Both of these points were delivered with such rudeness and actually contradict what is on the ASPCA website. Not only was he incompetent and extremely rude, the animal hospital itself was so run down and out of date. The room I was in smelled like feces, the informational posters in the room were from the year 2000 and there was old broken gutters just laying in the overgrown garden. Based on the yelp reviews, I didn't think this place would be a good for for me and my puppy but even after a free visit that has been 100% confirmed. Read Less

Shall I start with the good. Have been here a couple times and every time I felt like my cat and I were greeted pleasantly, didn't have to wait too long, and his issue was fixed.  I even called back to talk to a vet later and they didn't seem too annoyed with me.  Plus their pricing is fair for the area and don't charge you just for walking in the door. Now the reason for bring in my cat were non-emergency.  I don't know that I would take him there if it were.  On my two visits I did have a different vet each time then when I called in it was a third vet, keep in mind I went in on the same day of the week and time and called around the same time of day as well, so don't think it was a shift change.  Not a big deal if they are all professional which they were, I just find comfort in having the same person/persons care for my fur baby.  That's just me, especially when it is only a couple weeks apart. Plan on going back soon though to get my guy his shots so we will see from there! Read Less

We've been using this vet for years due to the convenience factor of being able to walk in.  I think the prices are reasonable too.  However, it really is hit or miss on the vets in their demeanor and advice.  Turnover seems high.  I don't recall seeing the same one more than once, and some of them truly need to work on how to talk to people.  My dog can't pay you himself, you know.  I tried calling today to ask a question about my dog developing a little cough after being boarded, and the urgency of the situation.  Whoever answered the phone  wouldn't even engage in a conversation about him and was fairly rude about rushing me off the phone.  Guess it is time to overcome my inertia about finding a new vet. I've never had a "bad" experience but not a good one either. The only reason I went to this vet is because it was free for 16 days due to me buying my puppy at Petland and even then they argued with me about free services (my puppy had a bacteria infection, cold, and an ear infection- thanks a lot Petland ) The first time I went was 3 days after I got my puppy and my puppy checked out with a clean bill of health but the same day she came down with a cold along with multiple other things. Ironic, huh? I waited a few days and took her back and she had a cold, bacteria infection and some other kind of weird thing going on. Strange how that can all happen in 3 days and not to mention a week later she has an ear infection after the last two times they said her ears look good even though I've told them both times that she has been itching them like crazy. Whatever. Anyways, now that my 16 days is up I am switching to a different vet that actually cares about me and my $5,500 dollar puppy. Hopefully I can find somewhere cleaner and more friendly with vets that actually know what they're doing. Like seriously, how did some of these vets get their license? The only positive thing I could even say is that the cost isn't bad, it's pretty average. Read Less

I'm not a huge fan of this place. They run a business partnership with the nearby Petland, which already makes them seem shady. From my few times going here, I kind of related them to that shady car repair shop of the vet world. I have been taking my dog here for years and have been satisfied with their services for the most part. It's nice not to have an appointment, and they have pretty good hours, but I recently encountered a vet that made my experience go from satisfactory to poor.A new vet I hadn't seen before was so rude to me when I came in concerned about my dog. Instead of addressing and assessing why I brought my dog in, he just started a laundry list of things I should be doing as a pet parent, all non related to the reason I came in or what I asked him to look at. I have a healthy, happy 7 year old dog and he made me feel awful about my dogs weight (he is 21 pounds and avg. is 19 for his breed), he scolded me for his nails being too long, which I had just had them clipped 3 months prior, that i should be brushing his teeth everyday, and the amount i do it is "basically a waste". He was incredibly rude and inconsiderate toward me and my pet and the worst part is, I walked out of there paying $44 for an undiagnosed dog - just that he needs to lose weight, get his nails clipped, and I should brush his teeth everyday. I asked how often I should be scheduling a teeth cleaning for my pet since he has had some teeth extracted in the past and he said, "it just depends on the dog" -well how about a recommendation for my dog? That's why I'm here...So frustrating. If I go back, I will make it a point to see another vet. I walked out of there in tears. Read Less

I have been going to Bethel Animal Hospital for almost 10 years now, and they have always been very good to my dogs (I have three big ones). My Rottweiler is boarded there often, and the staff knows him and is always glad to see him.  One of the vet techs, who also has a Rottie, makes it a point to take him out to play, and my dog loves that. As far as medical care, they have always done very well. In early November of 2008, I discovered a lump above my brindle Boxer's paw, so I brought him in to have it checked out. Turns out it was a malignant tumor, which is common in boxers.  Dr. Sykes scheduled the surgery, removed the tumor and gave me instructions on how to care for him. On Thanksgiving Day, which was about a week after the surgery, I got a call from a number I didn't recognize.  It was Dr. Sykes calling to check in on my dog. I thought it was really something for him to take time out of his holiday to make sure everything was going well. The same Boxer recently tore a skin tag. It bled profusely, and I was unable to make it stop. I thought I was going to have to bring him to the emergency vet but I figured I would try Bethel first before I spent a large amount of money at the emergency vet.  Dr. Gus, who is EXCELLENT by the way, stopped the bleeding and tied off the skin tag so that it would fall off and no longer be a problem. My dog was as good as new.Over all I've been very happy there and I have healthy dogs to show for it.  I plan on taking my dogs there for years to come.UPDATE: The day after Christmas 2013, it was discovered that my Rottweiler had bone cancer. The treatment options were harsh and generally ineffective, so opted for pain management. After we came out of the exam room several of the vet techs came out and hugged me and my dog. When it came time to put him down, a vet from my church came to my house to take care of it. The next time I came in to Bethel to pick up a prescription for one of my other dogs, I let them know what had happened. The vet techs were heart broken. A few days later I received a sympathy card telling me what a great dog he was and how much he will be missed. So if this is what is meant by those who say that they are rude and uncaring, then I'm ok with it. Read Less

If I could give this vet zero stars, I would. The employees are rude. The vets don't really let you explain what is going on with your animal. They just ask a few questions, write a prescription and send you on your way. Not to mention, they are way over priced. I took my puppy there for shots and they gave me a list of the two left he "still needed". Rabies was not on this list, so I'd assumed he'd been given the vaccine. When I took him to another vet to get neutered a few days ago, they asked if he'd had his rabies shot and I told them I thought so but I wasn't sure. I gave them the number for Bethel Animal Hospital so they could call and ask, and the woman that called said they were rude to HER on the phone as well. She said it was like pulling teeth to find out if he'd gotten the shot or not. Turns out, he didn't. So not only did they not give him the rabies shot, it wasn't on the list of shots he still needed either. If I hadn't taken him to another vet to get neutered, I probably would have never known. We've been taking multiple pets to this practice for over ten years (back before they moved, in fact!), and I don't understand some of the negative reviews. We have always gotten in quickly, and have received excellent care for our dogs and cats. They helped us take two Labrador Retrievers to age 17 in good health, and another ""first dog on earth"" mix to age 16. I particularly appreciate the absence of the ""hard sell"" approach you see at so many vet clinics for tests and medication. They have always given us an upfront evaluation of our critters conditions, and given us options for treatment at different levels of cost . WORST VET EVER!!! These people do not care about your animal at all. I took my dog in for his one year check-up and shots. My dog has epilepsy and has been on phenobarbital for the past 5 years. The vet knew nothing about his condition. He never asked for a stool sample to check for heart worm, never checked his ears even after I told him he just had an ear infection. When I told the receptionist how dissatisfied I was she said "i'm sorry and that the vet that check my dog was a fill in for someone that was on medical leave" REALLY??? So, I am sort of surprised by all of the negative reviews because I have been going to this vet for almost 7 years now with my oldest dog, and two years with my youngest. My two pet rats had mammory cancer and they both removed the tumors and put them down for me when it was time (and more importantly, didn't laugh at the girl who was crying over something most people try to kill, not keep alive.) They provided end of life care my my Mom's cat, and put her down when it was time. I have always found the employees to be polite and really love animals. I also like the fact that when I walk in with Conan, the employees all know who he is. I am very happy with this Vet and actively recommend them to people. As far as pricing goes, I have found them to be fair and reasonable. The hours are great, particularly if you are working (how on earth do you get a dog in to see the vet if they are only open until 5 on weekdays?) They even are open Sundays! The only gripes that I have ever had are (and may actually be related to the mangement issue that other people were complaining about - but the care is being delivered by the staff, not the management, you know?): 1) They recently went to an on-line ordering system for heartworm and flea meds. I really feel they should provide it in-store, I only sporatically had access to internet. 2) They do seem to have some turn-over in their Vet staff, but everyone that I have ever had has been good so I'm not that picky. This is probably not the place for you if your pet has ongoing issues that require a working relationship with a specific Vet. 3) I do find it shady that they had (if they don't still, I don't know) a relationship with PetLand, since in general Vets should be discouraging people getting their pets from pet stores (pot calling the kettle black here by the way, my oldest dog is FROM Petland and thats how I ended up at this vet initially.) 4) I did have a run in once with a well-meaning but not overly bright high schooler working the front counter-who I have never seen since- who felt strongly that I shouldn't buy my flea meds from Target and I quote - 'Because they buy fake medicines from overseas that could kill your dog!!! Are you sooo irresponsible you would put your dog at risk?? You need to buy it from us, we only buy the stuff made in the USA!' -Frontline is manufactured in France FYI. Read Less

The head receptionist at BAH is awful and impolite. I called with a serious concern about a cat I saw get hit by a car and she LAUGHED AT ME and mocked my concerns while making suggestions to me in a condescending tone. I ended up catching the cat and bringing him to a different vet, who saved his life AND got him adopted to a great family. I wanted to let the owners of BAH know about my bad experience so I went to the clinic to try and speak with them. An employee informed me, much to my surprise, that since the owners live out of state, I would have to write them a letter and bring it back to Bethel Animal Hospital for them to forward via fax. To my dismay, even though I did as they asked, I have never heard from them (this occurred several months ago). I can only assume that either my letter was ""lost"" by the receptionist against whom the complaint was aimed, or that the owners are so unconcerned with the quality of staff they hire that they couldn't even dignify me with a response. I was new to the area and considering bringing my animals there, but now I wouldn't even tell someone I hate to have their pets treated by them. Read Less

Do NOT take your animal here. While the most staff is caring and capable, the management is running it into the ground. Through conversation with employees I learned the owners moved to South Carolina and attempt to run the facility by Faxing back and fourth. They left their EXTREMELY RUDE daughter-I believe her name was Lacy- in charge. It is clear the employees are under strict regulations that prohibit the best care for your animals. Find a new place to go! Since I've been there (sept. 2010) my three favorite employees have been replaced with lower qualified employees. When I found this out, I immediately left with JoJo (my boxer) and found a new vet. Don't trust them! Read Less

I have 3 cats, and i have been taking two of my cats here for over 2 years (ever since they were kittens) and have been nothing less than satisfied with this office. The majority of the staff are absolutely wonderful, and one of the techs remembers us and our cats every time we are there. Very personal experience. The vets are very knowledgeable and have taken care of all neutering, infections, and urinary tract problems with all of my cats. I have noticed some of the I am assuming part time staff are slightly less friendly and enthusiastic, particularly the time i brought one of my cats in first thing Sunday morning. I would assume any bad experiences with this office would be the part time staff and not the fulltime staff. There are also several veterinarians in the practice, but if there is a specific vet that is not preferred, the staff does allow you to request a specific vet. Of course there may be a longer wait for special requests. Another plus for this office are hours and price. The walk in hours are very convenient and accommodate a busy working schedule. Given that it is walk ins, there can be a long wait, but that is expected with any walk in service. Their prices are very reasonable, and I have even been given free services in dealing with surgical complications with one of my cats. I definitely recommend this office to anyone with pets.

Read Less

Read Less

Read Less

I never had any issues with this facility, care, and staff (been going here for 5 years).  I always call ahead to check the wait status before I take my pets. Doing so has kept my wait time to less than ten minutes.  As far as prices are concerned; they are competitive.  I would recommend others to give this clinic a chance.

Clearly he won't be going back there anytime soon. Read Less

I've voted for this group with my pocketbook for many years, and will continue to do so. Read Less

I have been going to this hospital since purchasing 3 mastiffs from Petland around 5 years ago. They saved my neo mastiffs (Hooch) life. They all fell in love with him as he had to stay a bit since he ingested a toy and much foreign material. The staff there are wonderful. If you have been working with a vet there you can request to see that vet if they are in that day. I did recently lose my Dogue Day Bordeau (Genevive) early in November. We found her dead at home, and after her autopsy report we learned that she had a form of a blood cancer. She had a tumor burst in her heart. I am just happy she went quickly. I am writing this for the person that currently has a sick Dogue. She gave us so much love. Bethel road has helped me with a number of pet issues the were quite servere and they went into action and have saved many over the years. It is a great place! Read Less

WORST VET EVER!!! These people do not care about your animal at all. I took my dog in for his one year check-up and shots. The vet knew nothing about my dog and was writing everything on a scrap piece of paper. I asked why he didn't have my dogs file and history and his answer was "because it was too thick." My dog has epilepsy and has been on phenobarbital for the past 5 years. Needless to say I will NEVER take my dog there again and I told everyone sitting in the waiting room to run if they wanted proper care for their animals. Again, these people do not know what they are doing and do not care for your animal. This place deserves 0 stars but that was not an option. Read Less

I've been going to Bethel Animal Hospital for 4 years now for the care of my three cats, and small animals. The doctors are very friendly and caring, the facility is always clean and welcoming. The walk-in method of the clinic's non-surgery cases is both very helpful and incredibly frustrating depending on the time of day you choose to do so. If you go on the weekend, you're in for a long, long wait, as everyone else seems to have the same idea in mind. Middle of the day on a weekday you can pretty much stroll right in and see a vet within 5 minutes. Read Less
