I was pleased with the staff and the visit until I went to pay. I mentioned that I would like to get my dog fixed and they asked if I wanted to get the bloodwork done today, I stated not to worry about it because I didn’t want to stress him out more than he already was, they took him in the back and without discussing the $68.00 charge with me, they went ahead and did it anyway. When my dog came back in the room I saw he had a bandage on his leg and the vet told me they went ahead and drew the blood for lab work needed in case I decide to have him fixed. They never discussed the lab fee with me, asked for my consent OR before I ever scheduled or thought of scheduling him to get fixed. After showing me a quote for over $400.00 to fix a 22 lb Boston Terrier, I would not have him fixed here anyway- so the charge that was never discussed is not something I needed for him to have a travel certificate anyway. One star for North Kenny Veterinary Hospital, located at: 4590 Kenny Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220, is one star to many. This facility was recently used by Heather Johnson, a representative of an organization called the Italian Greyhound Club of America (IGCA), to facilitate the kidnapping of two dogs placed in my and my husband's care to foster and eventually adopt. Yes, thats right! The staff at the North Kenny Veterinary Hospital and, in particular one of their staff members, Morgan, will work in tandem with others (IGCA) operating under false pretenses to facilitate the unlawful removal (kidnapping) of your pets. You see, after not only being fully vetted and completely approved to be foster parents and, future adopters of our two IG fosters, Wally and Patty, they were taken away from us 30 minutes after being dropped off at the North Kenny Veterinary Hospital for what beloved to be routine visits. The false pretense was a "booster" for Wally, where as we had been told on a previous visit by Morgan, of the North Kenny Veterinary Hospital, that "Wally is good to go" and "We don't need to see him for another year," and the other false pretense for Patty was an urgent dental check up, where as Morgan and I had just spoken about future dates and times that would not conflict with my schedule. Until North Kenny Veterinary Hospital orders the resignation and removal of staff member Morgan, and publicly admits their participation in the unlawful removal of our dogs while in their temporary custody and control, as well as publicly apologize for such facilitation, and petitions the IGCA for the resignation and removal of Heather Johnson, I would implore, no beg, anyone thinking of trusting them with the care and safety of your most prized possession, to reconsider.Read Less

If you choose to have your dog groomed here, please do so at your own risk. My large breed dog needed groomed so I booked an appointment with Linda and the following resulted: 1. She never showed up to the appointment time, I had to leave my dog with receptionist 2. She called two hours later with a quote four times more than I expected and refused to work with me on what I wanted to have done 3. When I came at the end of the day to get my dog I was told to come back almost two hours later - at 7pm 4. After waiting to get him, I was called to the back to get my dog because he refused to move 5. I found my dog EXTREMELY stessed out, he had whale eyes, was hyperventilating and foaming at the mouth. A vet had to be called in to check him because his condition was so bad but no one ever contacted me about it 6. I called them the next day to discuss my concerns and even though they claimed some culpability they refused to do anything about it I refuse to patronize any business who is ok with my dog (or any pet) being treated like he was here. He was just supposed to be groomed, not traumatized. He was by far the most stressed I have ever seen him and it terrified me and my family. Read Less

I have been taking my dogs here since 2011. I have received nothing short of the best, most caring experience here. My childhood dog, Casey was diagnosed with Kidney failure by another vet practice, with which I had a terrible experience. I brought her to North Kenny and the experience was a complete 180. They were extremely compassionate, knowledgeable, kind, and honest until the very end. Many months later I adopted my dog Maya and knew that I'd never take her to any other vet practice. I live in Westerville/Polaris area and take my dogs and cat to this wonderful practice as it is reasonably priced and comes highly recommended.  My family has been taking our dogs to this practice since the 1970's with Drs Headlee and Swenson.  I have numerous vet clinics within a 2 minute drive to my home but I chose to drive to Kenny Road due to the high quality of care and reasonable pricing.   Recently I had to board my dogs, including a 20-year-old black mutt, Randy, who was cherished by caretaker Claudia.  I normally hire a pet sitter, especially for Randy, but now I know I can leave him in Claudia's wonderful care.   Claudia insisted I take her photo with Randy.   As of March, 2015,  Randy is the oldest dog in the practice. I had a horrible experience recently.  Our puppy had to have emergency surgery on a Saturday to repair a laceration on his tongue.  The front desk employee advised us that they would call us before noon to let us know how our dog handled the surgery.  Noon passed and we never heard from them.  The office closes at noon on Saturdays.  We spent the next four hours calling the office only to be greeted by a recording.  We were extremely upset.  I drove to the office and luckily came across a tech walking a dog boarded at the kennel.  She graciously let me in and I retrieved our dog.  In the meantime, I instructed her to contact the vet while I was there to speak to her.  The vet never apologized and advised me it was a misunderstanding between she and the other vet regarding who was supposed to call us to give us a prognosis of our dog.  Completely unprofessional, lack of customer care, and simply bad business.  We will not be returning to this office. We have been going to North Kenny Veterinary for years, starting with Dr. Headlee to our current Dr. Ott. We have always been very pleased with the level of care and compassionate support. North Kenny has supported us through some difficult times as we dealt with end of life issues and through the joy of new puppies. Through it all they have been a source of comfort and guidance. They offer so much more than medical support. The kennel care has been a great resource when we vacation. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always helpful and caring. The most satisfying, is the time spent in the exam rooms; The doctors and staff are always patient and willing to spend ample time with us to answer any questions and probe for information to help solve problems. The veterinary techs are amazing, the experience and know how they offer is much appreciated. The doctors really care about our pets. They know us and our pets very well. They understand the personalities and tendencies of us both and use that understanding to treat the issues effectively. North Kenny Veterinary is definitely our favorite choice for pet care. We have been in situations where we have been in other vet offices and we continue to know North Kenny is best. I readily recommend North Kenny Veterinary to others pet owners. :) Read Less

I have taken my 2 little chihuahuas to this vet office several times. Every time I go there Claudia, takes such good care of my little guys. She is so careful with them since they are old and sensitive. One of my dogs is especially nervous but now when he sees her he calms down. She always gives them each a biscuit with their nail trims and treats them like they are her own children. You can tell she really loves animals and her job. I never worry when I have to board them there because they come home happy and balanced. I've boarded my pets at other places and you can tell when they haven't been given enough attention. Both the Dr's and the staff are very knowledgeable and always answer all my questions. Thank you Dr. Ott and Dr. Goode and especially thank you to Claudia for the sincere care you give my dogs. The dog I had growing up was terrified of the vet.  My dad or I always ended up carrying her in and holding her as she shook.  This is certainly not the case with my dog & Swenson's.  I used to travel a lot and used their boarding services.  While it isn't cheap ($15.50/day for a small dog), there's no way I'll switch.  My dog loves it.  As soon as we pull into the parking lot, she starts whining and pawing at the car door.  She runs right inside and jumps around while waiting for Claudia to take her for the weekend.  It always makes me a little sad on the inside to see how happy my dog is to leave me.  Luckily when I pick her up on Monday mornings she's just as happy to see me as she was to leave.  Claudia always gives her a bath and sprays her with doggie cologne too.  I'm guessing my dog is just waiting for my next trip. Great vet.  They are adaptable to the pet's needs, and fears.  They send reminders of vaccinations and checks ups, and follow up on any hospital visits.  They do have boarding but is quite limited, especially for large dogs.  Because the boarding has been such a challenge, and the office is a bit far. I decided to go to another vet, closer to home.  If I lived closer and they offered more services (grooming, more boarding) I would l still go to Dr. Swenson. Read Less

GOOD STORY: It could have been awful, but prior to meeting my husband, his six-month old Golden Retriever was hit by a car in front of our house and practically on his deathbed. While Swenson's is not an urgent care facility, they were able to stabilize the dog and direct my husband to MedVet, a local pet E.R. Most impressive, Dr. Swenson even rode in back of the Jeep with the dog (making him late for a birthday dinner! The doctor, not the dog...) all the way across town to the trauma center. Six years later, the dog has grown into an 80 pound, spoiled rotten loverboy. Thanks in huge part to Dr. Swenson.I could probably end the review right there, but figured there's more to our patronage. Swenson Veterinary Hospital is one of the oldest established veterinary practices in Columbus. It's a small operation with only three vets, but we receive nothing less than fantastic service from the doctors and friendly staff...  They ALL know our pets names.Dr. Swenson, Dr. Goode and Dr. Schrier have treated our two dogs and two cats with the love and gentility we give them ourselves. We've brought our pets here for the whole gamut of routine checkups, emergencies, illnesses and also board our dogs with Swenson several times per year- with no worries at all about how they are being treated and cared for. The boarding fees are super reasonable, but there is limited space, so advanced booking is usually required.  Swenson's is not officially open on Sundays, but a staff member is on hand for pet pick-up during a few hours in the late afternoon. I recommend this vet to anyone in the surrounding neighborhoods. Read Less

We have also used them for boarding, and Domino seems to have a great time- he was happy and healthy when we picked him up after vacation! They even made a little doggy suitcase for him! I highly recommend this office! Read Less

Highly recommend!!! Read Less

Read Less
