This review is for the Behavioral Medicine Clinic. We adopted our first cat over a year ago. Sweet, mellow, shy, and quiet, she was the perfect cat. In November, we decided to add another to our family. Our cat spent quite a bit of time alone during the day, and we thought it would be good for her to have a friend. We read a ton of articles and searched far and wide for a cat with a similar temperament, and thought we'd found one. He was a young male of the same breed, as we had read was the best fit for an older female, and we brought him home.We followed all of the advice we'd read about introducing two cats to ensure that their interactions would only be good. Over a couple of months, we went through the process of introducing them. Unfortunately, the introductions didn't go well. Our new cat would chase and terrorize our new cat, biting her whenever he got the chance. Our poor sweet girl was terrified of him.We tried EVERYTHING to fix this. Calming collars, calming diffusers, spirit essences, clicker training, getting the new cat fixed, playing with him multiple times a day, etc. Nothing made any sort of a difference. To make matters worse, the new cat cried when he was apart from us, and he also cried when he was behind a closed door. For months, we've slept with him in the bedroom with us, only to be woken up 3-4 times a night by his incessant meowing. He is a sweet cat otherwise, but he clearly has some behavior problems to address.I found the OSU Behavioral Clinic when googling, and decided that we HAD to give it a chance. After all, we'd tried pretty much everything else. The appointment was NOT cheap - $270 for a 2 hour appointment, $130 for every hour after that, $130 for a recheck, $130 for a follow-up appointment... it was going to be super pricey. We actually crowd funded most of it, and scheduled the appointment. That was back in February. The earliest they could get us in was April 2. I faxed the 8 page questionnaire a full month in advance of our appointment, and had our vet fax over their medical records the week of. Every time our cats would fight, or every time our cat would wake us up several times a night, I would think of this appointment and how the end was FINALLY in sight. I rearranged my work schedule to make sure that I could set aside 2-3 hours for this appointment. After we wrangled our cats into their carriers (no easy task), we drove to the clinic. Excited and anxious, we walked in. When we signed in, they said that they couldn't find any information on our appointment. They took us back to a room while they figured it out.We had a couple of people come in and talk to us, and apparently there was some issue with their scheduler and the appointment was double booked. This had happened 3 times as of recent. I'm not sure how it wasn't resolved after the first time that it happened, but apparently it wasn't. They told us that the doctor was booked for the next 3 weeks, but they'd take off $50 if we could come in sometime the next day. We scheduled the appointment for 4-6 on Friday. We had our appointment with the behaviorist. She said that the prognosis wasn't very good for our cats getting along. She worked with us for 3 months, making all kinds of suggestions and telling us different techniques to try. We had email access, so we could contact her and ask any questions about what we were doing. We tried a lot of different things - feeding our cats together at the same time, giving them anti-anxiety medicine, playing with them together. The young cat did stop meowing all night long, which was much appreciated. But the best we could do with the cats was get them to eat together. Any other time, the younger one would stalk, harass, and hurt the older one. We eventually understood that the two cats would probably never get along. In conclusion, it's hard to say what rating I'd give here. I'd rate our first experience a 1. I was very upset that our appointment was so messed up. But every time we went back to pick up a prescription after that seemed much more organized. It was a little frustrating to have to sign in and wait for something like a prescription, but everyone was always nice. As for our behaviorist, she did try and offer some ideas and techniques we hadn't thought of. In the end, though, our cats still didn't end up getting along, which is what we paid so much money for. I would probably recommend the clinic for some less severe behavioral problems, but for problems like ours, no amount of medicine, appointments, or emails can solve them. Read Less
