I have two dogs that go to Upper Arlington Vet Hospital. The staff is very friendly in person and on the phone. They even have online appointment scheduling, which has been wonderful since my schedule can change abruptly. My pups see Dr. Heather Giatis who is an extremely sweet person. She takes time to carefully discuss any concerns I have, exam my dog, and then discuss with me the options I have. She is very thoughtful and reassuring. Upper Arlington Veterinary Hospital is by far and away the best veterinary clinic I have ever visited. I have been bringing my four legged family members here for 10+ years and would never even consider seeing another veterinary practice. Everyone from the front desk, to the Vet techs, to the Doctors’ are the most friendly and accommodating staff I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. Just today one of my dogs was ill, I called at almost 4 PM and they were able to squeeze me in today! This isn’t the first time either that they were so accommodating, it is EVERY TIME. They doctors and the staff understand how important our pets are to us and treat us like family. (We currently have 2 dogs and 2 cats of varying ages.) All of our concerns are listened to and taken seriously. The professional experience the doctors have enable them to diagnose conditions and thoroughly explain treatment alternatives. Dr. Parson even took one of our dogs home overnight so she could assess the dog more thoroughly. My wife and I have been taking our corgi (Russo) to Upper Arlington Veterinary Hospital since we moved to Upper Arlington from Chicago more than a year ago. Russo is almost 12 years old and needs careful assessment and evaluation because of his lengthy health history and current needs (among other things, he has significant and debilitating arthritis in a number of areas). My wife and I have been consistently happy with the care Russo has received. Russo has for the most part seen Dr. Joanna Parson, but also saw Dr. Adam Parson a time or two. Both Joanna and Adam are caring, attentive practitioners with an obvious and genuine concern for their canine and feline patients. The concern is paired with expertise and competence. In addition, the therapeutic approach is to listen carefully as I describe Russo's current condition, and essentially offer a menu of options from which to select as the care is customized to optimize Russo's well-being. There is never pressure to select a particular approach, and the process feels collaborative. Beyond Joanna and Adam, our experience with all of the staff has been excellent. Everyone has been courteous, professional, and responsive. In sum, when we moved to Upper Arlington and spoke to a few residents about where to take Russo, Upper Arlington Veterinary Hospital was highly recommended. Vets and staff here go above and beyond for their patients (and their owners!). I brought in a recently rescued cat for her initial appointment, only to find out that she was pregnant! I almost had a heart attack, but everyone there were so kind and helped me get some tools on how to deal with a pregnant kitty and even put me in contact with potential foster families. Scheduling an appointment is easy, and I always feel that the techs and doctors do a very good job of explaining both potential problems and potential solutions if anything comes up. I couldn't provide a high enough rating for the team at UAVH. I transferred to UAVH after taking my GSD to OSU for a period of time and consistently coming away disappointed with OSU's level of care, their desire to raid my pockets, and generally feeling like we were just a number churned through their daily factory. Since coming to UAVH my GSD is finally healthy, and it only took two visits to get her on track, and substantially less money than OSU had proposed. Both Dr. Parons (wife/husband duo) spent a commendable amount of time just getting to know Nala and her history in our first two visits. They openly brainstormed while in the room with us and were cognizant of monetary limitations. They were easy to understand and willing to explain things in other terms if we didn't understand.UAVH was so good that I had my mom drive down from Toledo for them to treat one of our other dogs who had been battling severe health issues since she was a puppy. Dr. Joanna spent over a week studying her records and over two hours with my mom discussing treatment options. In the end, Dr. Joanna was honest about the dog's condition and the limitations of modern medicine, and ultimately talked to us about putting our little one down. The doctor was willing to "go all in" and refer us to specialists, but she was open about the cost of doing so and the quality of life our dog would have. In the end, it was so refreshing to see a vet that cared so greatly for the wellbeing of the animal, that they didn't care about the money and didn't try to talk us into aggressive treatment options. Long story short these are the best veterinarians I've ever experienced. They have speciality and emergency vet experience in their past, which enables them to be great diagnosticians who know when it's time to treat aggressively and when it's time to let go. Read Less

It took me some time to find the perfect vets for my fur-babies, but after a friend recommended this place I took her advice and I'm so glad I did! I have seen three different vets there and have felt so well taken care of every time. After almost a year of agonizing over my Freya's itchy ears and obsessive scratching Dr. Joanna Parson was like a miracle!!! Dr Parson does it again! He has helped my Pug out with his eye injury and made sure I could afford it. Not many vets will do that. Today he took my man's dog in when we really thought she was going to die. She didn't! They think it was a spider bite reaction or something but she stayed the day and now she's better. They not only squeezed us in the same morning we called but the cost was completely reasonable. Beyond that, Dr Parson loves animals and it shows. After my Pug's eye surgery he ran out to the parking lot to tell me "Barley did great". Who does that!? Dr Parson does. PS, ladies... He's super dreamy, too. Read Less

I have been to this location, and their sister location in Grandview and my review stands for both facilities. I absolutely LOVE the staff here. I have never been to another vet who puts my mind at ease when my dog is in trouble, like these wonderful souls. They are friendly, honest, on time, the facility is clean, and they truly love animals! I have been in twice with serious emergencies for our animals- both times they were double booked- and they still got us straight in! This is the sister location to Northstar Animal Care, which is my usual veterinarian's office (yelp.com/biz/northstar-a…). The head vet here is my normal vet's wife. Aww. =)I brought Dexter here for his most recent check up because the Northstar location was closed. As far as location is concerned, this is easier to get in and out of (by virtue of not being on such a crowded intersection), and has more parking.  I have to admit it was slightly less cheery than the other location. That's a minor detail, everything was still fine and they were more than pleasant with my big guy. I thought it was really funny, Dexter was the vet tech's best friend until he pulled out a stethoscope. I knew Dexter didn't like large tools/instruments. Apparently he doesn't like small ones either. He freaked out like a big baby! Lol, once I got him to settle down, he submitted to having his breathing and heart checked. God forbid!!!The doctor was nice, and laughed about the stethoscope incident. She only gave me a small ration of heart medicine though! No, it wasn't her fault. Apparently the company has stopped producing it temporarily because it is made in the same facility of some human drug they produce that has put up some red flags, so everyone is on short supply. I went to the sister veterinary office North Star Veterinary (just down the road on W. 5th). I've had my cat for a week and while she was really nervous and antsy and hid from me for the rest of the day from the shock, I loved this office. Everyone was really nice, the vet was helpful and informative when he realized that my cat was my only pet. I was really comforted and they treated my cat with so much care and love.
