I was very impressed all around with Whitehall Animal hospital. I brought my dog Leah in to have a growth on her foot looked at. First of all, Leah is a great dog, but she does tend to get overly excited and hyper in public places around new people. She jumps up, pulls on her leash, and wags her tail so hard, so I am always a little nervous about bringing her into new situations. The DVM Anne, and her vet tech were both so kind and patient with Leah. She hates having her paws touched, but they did it in such a slick and professional manner. Everything went smoothly during our visit. She ended up needing surgery, and that went great as well. They had to call me during surgery to okay an extra procedure (they found a broken tooth that needed extracted) and they were very patient with me when I had to talk to my husband first. Her post surgery care was meticulously explained to me, and I really got the vibe that they cared about my little, crazy pit bull mix. The wait time for one of my boy's follow-up treatment was a bit long. However, my overall experience with Whitehall Animal Hospital was very good. The Dr. Sturgeon and his support team explained everything they were doing for both my boys, and seemed to really care about the comfort of my pets as well as my level of concern. I loved the care my dog received while going to the vet, however the prices on medications are way higher than some other vets. Example: Bravecto was 65.00 there and at other vets it was 49.99. The same with prescribed medication I was paying a high price when another vet offered the same med but the generic version which was a huge price difference. Also, when leaving this location after moving and had been with them for over 3 years one of the employees calls to confront me that I need to bring my dog in for a lab test that I never had done and should be doing every year. Never was I told to do this test due to I did everything Dr. Duffus wanted me to do and why were you still taking my money for the medication he was getting that had to do with this blood test result. It was not until the new vet called to get my records and they were inquiring about this blood test that there was a issue and then a employee wants to call me and tell me to bring him in for this test because he was getting medication that he should of been tested every year for and try to basically berate me for not doing it(again while still selling this med to me with not a word). She never mentioned that my records were requested from a new vet which I already knew they were and then your going to call me and try to scold me for not getting lab work that was never told to me to be done now that a new vet was asking for those results, real fishy and unprofessional! Why would I bring him in now all of the sudden to do this test when I was leaving the practice. The other odd thing that I have discovered was that sometimes when picking up my prescribed med from this office they would make the comment that some of the pills are different color but its the same medicine. While at my new vet they told me the pills are all the same color and what the color was because it was a generic version, so now I am wondering if some of the different color pills that were mismatched were actually some generic and some brand name??? My Husband and I have been taking our dogs to Dr. Anne for a little over a year now. Even though we have since moved further away from them, I could not imagine taking them any where else. I have never had such wonderful experiences a vet clinic as I have had with them. The staff truly cares about the animals. If I could give them more stars I would!!!! Read Less

I had recently moved to the area and was looking for a vet close to the house since we also had just adopted a kitten. When I told the Dr. my boy's ears seemed extra dirty, they discovered he had an ear infection and would need them to be packed. My scared cat was being so obnoxious, but the Dr. and his assistant/vet tech were so calm and loving. The vet tech was so sweet to my boy even though he was acting out. The staff at this Animal Hospital is friendly and caring. Dr. Anne is a true animal lover and has a compansionate heart. She is a caring vet and will work in helping you get the best care for your animals. She will tell you like it is. If there are options she lets you know. I have 2 dogs and I drive about 25 miles to this vet because they are truly a caring team of animal lovers. I have used this place not only for the yearly checkups but for ilness and emergencies. Everytime they have the same consistant care. Just compasion and heart warming care for my animals. They office is clean and professional but not unfriendly. They have it balanced just right. The only time I have ever waited past my appointment time is when they squeeze me in for an appointment during their regularly busy day. I had a mastiff that was hit by a car. Naturally we were freaking out, I was 20 at the time, 2 years ago. We called them because they were the closest and they said take him to medvet. We did and it worked out great they knew they did not have extensive equiptment to care for him, although all he had was road rash on one paw. ANyway they did his bandage changes every 2-3 days. They quoted me $20-$25 but it was always $35 or more. I started to do them myself. But they were friendly and tried to be helpful. They must just stink at math. Read Less

both of the reviews below were by clients who either did not want to pay their bill after signing and estimate or who wanted a prescription for a cat we had not seen in 8 years. Sorry, can't bill because we don't get paid and its not good for the cat to dispense long term medication without an exam. we recommended an exam and the owner declined. Can't force her to bring the cat in. try calling your MD and getting a prescription if you haven't been to see them in 8 years. They probably won't even consider you a patient any longer. try getting into the exam room without paying your copay first! I am sorry these 2 people are unhappy. But I have other (10,000 plus) happy clients, and standards to uphold. Read Less

I agree with holding pets hostage. This place has become cruet and unfeeling. Let me note my bill was paid in full immediately. However these people are a disgrace. They do not stand by each other when temporary workers make decisions. The head doctor will not talk to a client when asked a few questions. If there is adverse feedback to this review, I will ask readers to refer back to holding pets hostage review here and at other sites. Reading between the lines it appears that they make snap judgments, and engage in poor or nonexistent communication with each other and their desperate clients. They have no coordination of efforts so it's all in the luck of the draw. They used to be good, if expensive, years ago, but no more. It's really too bad. Read Less

My cat had a puncture wound in his leg. When I called, they said it would be around $60 to treat. I planned on worst case $150. When I got there it was $500. I put $200 cash down. I said I could post date a check for the remainder 7 days later. They would not accept this. They said it would be $20 per day for boarding. I called back after the weekend. I offered to go ahead and write a check knowing my bank would cover it, but charge and overdraft fee. They would still not release the cat until the check cleared. I wouldn't have cash until Thursday when I cashed my paycheck. They said it would be an additional $575. They neglected to tell me about a hospitalization fee. Altogether...I'm looking at $775 for a puncture wound to a cat's leg. Read Less
