Ive taken both my rats to get checked and put to sleep here. They let you be with your animal when they go. And they allowed me to hold my baby one last time while he put her to sleep. He really talked me down too. Helped me feel that what i did was for the better. When i took in my first rat they were very interested in her. They gave her some cheese wiz and loved snuggling with her. All the nurses were interested in my little lady. After i had her,put to sleep they sent me a condolence card. I still have it. When i took in my last rat they took great care of her. They left me a note on my recient telling,me their sorry for my loss, i also still have that. I dont think they realize how nice that is to have. But they do,it without prompting. Their prices arent crazy either, they do payment plans and are very flexible. Most of the payments are situation and sized based, so you may be paying less then what they tell you,but nothing, more then what they tell you. They take both card and cash, and i honestly will be going here til i can no longer physically get to it. I have a female cat that needs spayed, shots, examination and anything, else. All of,that. For 230 thats all their shots all the check ups all the pain medication and all the other stuff, they may have to do like ear mites. Dr. Anstadt you can tell really cares about animals and their health. He is incredibly affordable and always has great ways to save money and still get what you need for your pet. I have recently just started going here, and my cat is very sick. I didn't have the paperwork from other vets, but he did his best to help me and my poor cat. He stayed after hours, on a Saturday, to get blood drawn from my very aggressive cat. He was able to sedate him and get what he needed for the tests. I know my cat is probably really ill and I will be getting the results soon. He scheduled an appt free of charge to go over the results and probably the next steps for the fate and/or treatment of my cat. He knows what he is doing, he is very knowledgeable, and a bit kooky, but he will help no matter the situation, it seems. I am very grateful to have someone like him on our planet who cares for our animals and isn't trying to get rich off of them. He tells it like it is, with regards to your feelings, as much he knows how. So thank you Dr. Anstadt and your staff for all you do. Read Less

I am a Service Dog Handler. Service dogs can cost up to $25,000. It is critical to have a Vet that is 100% professional. I have seen all sorts of vets in my 30 years of dog handling, and Dr. Anstadt is the first vet that goes above and beyond making sure the Service dog in my charge is provided optimal care not just adequate care. There are many DOC-In-A-Box establishments. Your pet is seen for a very short time and medications are administered with very little knowledge provided to customers, and serious issues can arise in our pets and working dogs. Each visit,Dr. Anstadt has spent considerable time sharing not only the options available, Pro/Con of option, but went into detail regarding how the medications actually work. I was even shown how I can use products in my home to care for minor issues. No pressure at the visit to buy costly medications. I I left the office informed and empowered. Dr. Anstadt staff prints out vaccination dates on each receipt. It makes it easy for me to add dates to calendar to keep vaccinations up to date. They send out mailers to remind of routine care. Scheduling appointments has always been easy. The establishment is extremely clean, and well maintained. Cost of the visit is more than reasonable. This is an old school vet. The animal comes first. Exactly as it should! I demand professional veterinary care for my animals. Dr. Anstadt delivers. Read Less

Really nice doctor who is very informative and gives you statistics so you can evaluate on your own what is necessary to do for the dog. Regularly takes a little off the bill, particularly when you've spent a good deal of money. Only reason it isn't five stars is because of his wonky hours. I have been a client of Oakwood Vet clinic for over ten years.  I have multiple cats, mostly rescues.  Dr. B. has performed everything from nuturing and treating a wild feral cat, to teeth extractions, tumor removals, ear surgery and euthanasias.  When one of my elderly cats had a tumor on her thyroid, Dr.B spent time researching both the condition and the recommendations for performing the procedure.  Then he shared all the data with me.  The procedure was a success and added years to her life. To say Dr.B. is a competent vet is a bit of an understatement.  When I bring a new rescue in, the exam is complete.  The animal is checked and treated for everything from fleas and worms, to ear mites and blood work for FLV and FIP.  The staff is caring, helpful and knowledgeable.  This is a vet who is committed to continuing education.  He stays up to date on current medical treatments for animals.  He performs laser surgery, which is less painful than regular surgery and sees to it that the animal's pain is managed after procedures. A scope is used check you pet's ears and teeth.  You can see right on the screen what's happening inside their ear canal and mouth.  And you're given options as well as recommendations for treatment.  Clearly, I'm a huge fan.  I have tried other vets in the area.  One told me my cat's strange enlarged pupil was just a symptom of old age.  Dr. B. immediately recognized it as a not uncommon form of cancer.  The cats was in terrible pain because the condition advanced to Glaucoma.  Dr. B was able to refer me to a specialist who was able to help my cat and treat the condition.   Many vets in this area are very nice. However, I've never met one who was as good at diagnosis or as thorough with treating my animals.  Patty Bommarito Read Less

Do yourself a favor and go to Kettering Animal Hospital. Here's why:I am in town for the holidays and needed an urgent chest X-ray for my dog to rule out pneumonia. He's been recently diagnosed with a disease that makes him prone to aspiration, so pneumonia is a big concern for me (he's had it twice already this year). I made an appointment with Oakwood Vet Clinic and told Jessica, the receptionist, that my dog is wary of strangers and it's best that their staff ignore him and don't give him eye contact until he has a chance to warm up to them. This rule goes double for my dog since this is a new facility for him and he doesn't know any of their staff. He's a nervous guy and came in shaking from fear. When the vet and vet tech came in our room, guess what? They stared at him as they entered and he immediately reacted by growling. Off to a bad start. Next, the vet told me he didn't read any of my dog's medical records that were faxed over the day before, so I had to explain everything myself. Another red flag. The last straw came when the vet came back in the room (after I suggested he go read the records) and said that my dog must be sedated for the X-ray. My dog has had numerous X-rays over the past year due to his condition and sedation has never been required. (Interestingly, Jessica the receptionist mentioned sedation when I booked the appointment, which leaves me wondering if they drug all their patients unnecessarily.)I declined the sedation or any services from this clinic. As we were on our way out the door, I asked for my dog's records so I could take them to Kettering Animal Hospital, which is just a short drive away. The vet REFUSED to release the records without charging me a fee. He wouldn't give care to my dog without drugs, and then tried to ransom my dog's vet records for money on top of everything else. Further, in plain sight from the reception counter, I saw a boxer tethered to a cabinet with no one paying any attention to her, and she was crying. The "office dog" was roaming around off-leash with no supervision and no isolation from patients for disease-preventative reasons. None of what I saw or experienced was professional, sanitary, caring, or safe. Your pet (and my pup) deserve far better than what this clinic can offer. PS my dog got his chest X-ray without sedation in a walk-in appointment with the friendly staff at Kettering just after this incident!! Read Less

Dr. Anstadt has been my vet for 14 years now. He's treated every pet I've ever had. my family has always taken our pets to his office too starting with Upper Heights Vet Clinic in Huber Heights, and now All Pets Animal Hospital in Oakwood. My 14 year old cat Cleopatra recently got very ill quite suddenly. She became lethargic, lost weight rapidly, and quit eating completely. She was basically unresponsive. For approx. 10 days we rushed to Anstadt's office to pump her full of fluids and meds, blood work and such to try to figure out what was wrong with her. His staff got me in every time I called in those 10 days, he never rushed me out of the office, and has always been the most considerate, caring and compassionate vet. When we couldn't find a reason for my cats illness he recommended a stellar diagnostic vet, for further testing. Between the 2 vets, we established a treatment plan, a month later my cat is back to her prior weight and attitude, and has made a remarkable recovery. In all my experiences with Dr. Anstadt and his staff, I've never once had a complaint. They have always been incredibly courteous and accommodating. If the south office isn't open, I know I can always make the drive to Huber too, which I have done in emergency cases. There've been a couple times (in emergencies) where I've tried other vet clinics close by and not been even half as impressed and ended up following up with Anstadt a day or two later anyways. So if you're looking for a vet who is super knowledgeable, caring and compassionate for all your animals needs, he's definitely the guy to go to!
