I could not be happier with the service received by Riverside Animal Care. My six month old puppy stayed there days after getting spayed. I cannot express how great the staff was. This was the first time she had a been boarded. The staff was very willing to answer all questions about her time at the facility and even allowed me to call and check on her. I just returned home from my first visit to this office and I was nothing short of impressed. The staff was incredibly professional from the time I entered the building to when I left. They were not only concerned for the well being of my furry friend, but for mine, always asking if I needed any water or coffee. They explained aspects of my pets behavior and asked questions to make sure we were receiving the highest level of care. They used photographs and drawing to make sure I understood everything and even helped show me the best way to give my cat her medicine. I cannot say enough great things about Riverside Drive Animal Care Center! Dr. McGuffin saved my dogs life and I'm so grateful to him and the entire team! When my dog needed emergency surgery due to an obstructed urethra they had a full surgery schedule but Dr. McGuffin stayed late on a day that was not his normal surgery day to perform a laparoscopic surgery for my dog. Had he not been so willing to get my dog into surgery we would have needed a full admoninal surgery which would have been significantly more invasive and dangerous to my sick dog. He had my dog up and going same day, back to his wonderful self and home resting with his family. Thank you Dr. McGuffin for you sacrifice and dedication to pet care!! Also, Dr. Gorby and the rest of the team here are the best! I know my dog and cats get the best care here. They have convenient hours and are always there when I need them. Dr. Gorby identified my dogs food allergy which had been causing frequent sickness for years prior to coming to them. Wonderful all access, veterinarian office. We now have three labs, all very high maintenance, all totally cared for by the vets and staff.Our 18 month old black lab tore his claw. I called and was able to see Dr. Gorby the same day. The staff greeted Boone with love and attention. The procedure was fast and painless due to the extra peanut butter offered to take his mind off of the claw. As always the experience was great. We have been going to RDACC for almost 10 years and they have been wonderful.  There are many other options that are closer but the care that out dogs have received over the years keeps us going back.  They also treat the owners with respect and are very caring. They are very thorough as far as explaining cost, procedures etc.  I have never been surprised by an amount that we had to pay.  They also don't force you to pay for unnecessary things.  They explain the benefits of such but leave the decision up to you.  And the last thing I have to say, maybe others do this, I'm not sure, but you pay right in your room where you see the vet.   You don't have to be at the front desk trying to hold your dog, find your wallet etc.  It is so convenient. I moved from Northeast Ohio with two elderly cats. Finding a new veterinarian is always a chore but the staff at Riverside Drive make my choice simple. The doctors and staff have all been caring and compassionate while being honest and professional. I recently had to euthanize my oldest cat. It was traumatic for me. Love these people, glad I found them, Doc McGuffin is the best....took care of my puppy through all her problems from sick sinus syndrome, to uti's now after 6 months of having chemo and treatment, at 12 1/2 she is cancer free. The staff their is comforting, loving and care...(the business is only as good as the staff, and they are amazing.) I get follow up calls (thanks Anita) after every treatment, and when I call with a problem, they always get me an answer. My dachshund, Cody, had a great visit with Dr. Gorby today. All my questions were answered with patience and I didn't feel like I was being "talked at". The doctor was well informed about the latest research in neuetering and spaying including my scheduled appointment for laparoscopy. I loved how they had a soft mat on the exam table to make my dog more comfortable instead of sliding around on the cold surface. My dog also seemed more comfortable being examined by Dr. Gorby than I've seen with previous vets. I never felt pressured or like a was being sold anything. I saw Dr. Sarah Graham with my cat, Frank. Her demeanor can only be described as cold and rude. I decided to take Frank to another clinic & called to get his medical records. When I picked them up, Dr. Graham had noted his records with "Recommended cystotomy concern for potential UTO w stones in male cat--owner declined. Said she would rather euthanize than spend $ on surgery." and "Owner seems disinterested in doing anything at all as far as treatment or diagnostics goes." Funny...that day I spent almost $400 on diagnostics... What I actually said was that I couldn't afford the overpriced surgery she suggested ($2k+) and asked if there were any alternate treatments. I will say, when I called to speak to the manager, Becky, about these records, she apologized profusely and said this was absolutely not acceptable. She went on to say that they regularly tell their employees not to make judgements about people and their situations with their pets and apologized again and again that this happened. I will never go back there. I hope she changes her attitude or stops practicing--people who are already in distress about their sick animal don't need Doctors who obviously missed the compassion lessons in school.Read Less

Best veterinary care in the greater Columbus area!  I've raised three Great Pyrenees Mountain dogs over the last 28 years; had bad experiences with the first two vets and forever grateful a friend referred me to Dr. Wisecup at Riverside Drive Animal Care Center. The doctors and staff are professional, courteous, quick to respond to your questions, offer excellent doggy daycare and boarding services and their health care is the best and top of their field.  My dog has been a patient of the practice for almost 5 years since she was a puppy. AS for price, they are very reasonable.  My dog needed care when I was in Florida last year for a period of time; the vet in Tampa charged 3 times more for a dental cleaning and medications than RDACC!  What I love about Dr. Wisecup is that she doesn't believe in over medicating, is very quick in returning calls and the prices of heartworm medications are comparable to other sources. Best veterinary care in town.  My pets have been going to RACC for 15+ years for both regular health care and immediate medical needs.  We've always had the best in animal health care.  Dr.  McGuffin is a very intelligent,  highly knowledgeable vet who considers every possible outcome before making a decision.  We were blessed to have been able to share our lives with dogs that (even with a seizure disorder,  heart conditions, and other issues related to age)  lived very long comfortable lives thanks to Dr.  Dave and his staff. We now are back to having a puppy who goes to doggie day care twice a week.  I don't know who is happier,  Jax going to play with friends or the staff to see him each time he comes to "school". Riverside Drive Animal Care Center (RDACC) is my go-to for my dog, even though I live on the other end of town. RDACC is still easy to get to and convenient to my other traffic patterns. Are they a little more expensive than other places? Probably -- to be honest I haven't really price-compared. But I will say that I really trust the staff and docs here. The space is really clean, large, and pleasant. I'm willing to pay a little more for that environment.Despite paying a little more for services my dog needs, I don't feel gouged. Before my puppy's neutering, we received a full estimate with a range of costs (traditional scalpel versus laser, microchip, extra bloodwork), and I felt like I was informed in the choices I made. No surprises at checkout time. At first it looked like my pup didn't need a cone of shame after his surgery, as he wasn't bothering his incision. But eventually he did start to fuss with it, and ended up pulling out a stitch. I called RDACC and they suggested I bring him in, but set me up with a vet tech appointment rather than a full veterinarian appointment. This saved some cash and convenience. Pup got all fixed up (pardon the pun), and his healing has been smooth sailing ever since.I should also mention that RDACC treated another dog of ours, who tragically and unexpectedly passed away during the course of his treatment. The docs and staff at RDACC were very helpful with that process. They did their very best in his care and were emotionally invested in his well-being, while maintaining the kind of professional efficacy we needed. That experience -while really horrible- is what makes me trust these folks with my new puppy. They also have dog boarding and doggy daycare here. We used it once -- it's definitely a good option for that type of boarding situation. There are "family" suites where all your pets from one household (dog + cat combos, too, so long as they are friendly with one another) with cameras to check in on your pets. We prefer for our little gent to stay with friends, family, or our dog walker, of course, but in a pinch we would use again. Read Less

First and foremost, this place is expensive.  I regret not looking for another vet while I was living in Columbus because I'd have more money if I had.That being said, I can't say their services were bad.  They are friendly and through vets and I appreciate that (I'd recommend Dr. Gorby if you come here). However some vets here are more like sales people than a doctor.  Here's the story that really grated my cheese.I took my dog in for a regular routine check-up (you can pretty much guarantee this will cost you around $100 at RDACC).  The vet discovered a slab fracture on my dog's tooth.  I asked for an estimate as this tooth extraction is different than other tooth removals.  I was estimated at $650.  This seemed pretty steep to me, so I told the Vet I was going to have to figure out a way to pay for it.  He told it wasn't something that needed done immediately and that would be fine.A few days later the vet called me (I was at work so it went to voicemail) telling me his preliminary blood work (that was done without my knowledge or consent and I admit I should have checked my bill before paying, but still) for the procedure would expire in like a month so I needed to schedule the appointment pretty soon if I wanted to avoid having to do another one of those.So I called my hometown vet (over an hour away) and asked if I could bring my dog in for an estimate and everything.  I got an estimate of $200 and I asked about other services I was charged for at RDACC to see if he would need (or needed) that done and the vet, while he didn't bad mouth anyone, told me that that was all unnecessary.I've since moved and am now trying to find a vet for the extraction (he was placed on a steroid treatment for an allergy so he was unable to get the procedure done before I moved).  I've called several vets for estimates and none have been close to $650 and some told me I could do the blood work option but it is really only recommended for dogs over 6 years of age (My dog is 4). Long story short, if you want to be guilted into paying for unnecessary services and over pay for necessary ones, this is the place for you.  Again, I can not rate it *that* badly  because I've never had a bad vet experience from a technical stand point, it's mainly that they want you to spend more money than you need to and that's not what being a good vet is. It should be about being a vet and not trying to find ways they can charge pet owners more for their own personal benefit.And again, If you decide to come here, Dr. Gorby is the vet to see.  When I took my dog in for an allergy, he explained all my options and didn't guilt me into anything that we didn't necessarily need.  He understood my situation while keeping my dog's health at the forefront of everything. I'll admit that I missed taking my kitty to a couple appointments for check-ups. And I was worried that when I brought Linus (that's my cat) in today that they'd either berate me or make me feel guilty. They did none of those things. In fact, the Vet thanked me for coming back. I really can't say enough about the staff here; from the front desk staff to the Vet Techs to the Doctors... they are all kind, caring, patient and smart. They told me everything that they were going to do to Linus and what they found afterwards. They talked to me and fawned over Linus (which helped calm him down). Now, I don't know what other Vet's charge around town so I might be off the mark here but they seem more expensive than the Vet we went to in my old city... However, the quality of care and experience here is worth paying a little bit more. It's also probably cheaper if you remember to bring the cat in every year instead of squishing 3 years worth of exams/shots/tests into one visit. :-) Read Less
