I would give this organization a -5 if such rating was possible.
Upon receiving email notification of Angel's Rest Animal Society's closing, an animal hospice that also helped dogs with behavioral issues, vet tech Kelly Geary took it upon herself to write the following unsolicited email to the sanctuary: "You may feel that you are doing animal welfare a favor, but you are not. This is shameful, hurtful and dangerous. You are dumping the stress of a behavior problem dog on another family. It is cruel to the humans and the stressed and mentally diseased dog. I do not support and will never support organizations like this. Kelly Geary, RVT" This may have been written without the practice manager's approval.
Angel's Rest has received numerous awards for quality of service and it's work with individuals with disabilities, the elderly and veterans. We have saved over 500 animals in our 12-year experience that were facing euthanasia due to advanced age, critical conditions or behavior problems. To receive such a hurtful, unsolicited email in response to the announcement of our closing due the covid pandemic national crisis is hurtful and cruel, to say the least. Ms. Geary fancies herself a behaviorist, but lacks the credentials, schooling and expertise. (Incidentally, two behaviorist have assessed some of our dogs and deemed them adoptable, let alone the years some of these animals spend at the sanctuary getting rehabilitated.) During our 12-year existence, we have saved hundreds of animals from the clutches of people like Ms. Geary who are quick to euthanize a misunderstood animal.
Is this where you want to bring your animal for help? I'd be very weary of small clinics with only one vet and one of two technicians who grandstands and portrays to be something she is not. Is your pet's diagnosis accurate or something Ms. Geary misrepresented because she overstepped the boundaries of her authority, again. If the veterinarian in charge did not know about Ms. Geary's venom spewing while using the official email address, why didn't she? Are all internal decisions about your pet's care being made without the supervision of the veterinarian in charge? If the veterinarian did know and condoned Ms. Geary's actions, then there is a bigger issue at stake.
In other words, can your pet be saved or did Ms. Geary et al predetermine it should not be and thus recommended euthanasia.
As a loving and caring pet owner, I would steer clear of this pet hospital. Read Less
