Took all 3 of my old lady fur babies to see them, and they were absolutely wonderful. Sheryl made my girls feels right at home with lots of snuggles and kisses. This was my first visit to this clinic because are usual vet was not taking anymore same day visits. I went here with my dog because he was coughing and vomiting and seemed to have something stuck in throat so the vet tech was very rude to my 7yo who was asking questions, not answering &treating him as tho his questions didn't matter! They mattered. Then they only X-rayed his belly and after I got home wanted me to come back so they could X-ray his esophagus and airway.... Well shouldn't that have been done originally? Then charged me $110 more for that... This place is a scam!!! Read Less

Such a caring and sympathetic group. This was our first visit with our beloved boy, Pinto, only to find out bad news. He was an old friend to us and like many, cancer was his future. The most EXPERIENCED, CARING, KNOWLEDGEABLE Veterinary practice I have ever encountered. I have taken my pets to many different doctors in the Columbus area, but none have demonstrated the same expertise, professionalism, and caring ways better than Groveport Canal Animal Hospital. The staff, starting with the front desk people, the vet techs AND the doctors are all consummate, knowledgeable, skilled, empathetic, and compassionate. I have entrusted four beloved dogs, 2 guinea pigs, and numerous other small family members to their care and have received the best possible care I could have ever asked for. Some hospitals want to perform procedures that are not completely necessary, just to make a profit. Groveport Canal Animal Hospital, on the other hand will give you options, explain upsides, downsides, and help you make the choice that is best for your pet AS WELL as your family and financial limitations. I have also boarded my pups at their facility on NUMEROUS occasions, and I have always felt like they were on vacation at the same time as me! They love the staff there, especially Sheryl, who gives them extra special care, and I feel safe knowing that if something were to happen while I was away, they would be in the best care possible. Absolutely amazing facility, staff, veterinarians, customer service and everything else. I have been coming here for three years and have never had a bad experience. The personal love and attention that you and your pet get is unmatched by anyone I have ever been to. I drive over 3 hours just to come here for the check up appointments because I simply do not trust anyone else with my pets care. I would give them ten stars if I could. We take all our animals here and its always a smooth and quick visit. The entire staff is friendly and helpful. The doctors are so great and communicate with each other so well that we don't care which doctor we see. My dogs have seen them both many times over and its always a great visit. Our Shetland Sheepdog Clara had her first visit a few weeks back and I'm happy with how we were treated. I would not recommend this place to anyone. My cat broke its leg about 6 weeks ago and I have been going to An animal emergency center when they recommended this place to be my regular vet to keep the costs down. When I arrived they demanded to take X-Rays even though we had just gotten them done and when I handed them the cd they belittled me about how money should be no object for his care. I was told if I didn't have it then they would take them next time. So of course I said go ahead because I care about my cat. Then they did a bandage change and escorted me to the front desk. There I was told to pay $120 for the X-rays and $44 for the exam which was average. Then they slapped on a fee of $70 for a new splint. After they scheduled my next appointment for my cat, I asked about a military discount and they said that was "more for the regular patients." After walking out I realized he still had the same duct tape on his splint I had put on there a few days before to secure where he was chewing it off. They charged me $70 for a new splint, instead of a bandage change and didn't even bother to change the splint. This was an appalling experience and I am putting together my receipts and pictures documenting the same splint to send to the board. Read Less

My dog was run over by a truck in our driveway.  After the initial emergency surgery at Diley Animal Emergency, I found this clinic to do all the follow up care.First, let me say that I am brand new to this area and really had no time (considering the circumstances) to do my homework for a good vet.  As it turns out, I didn't have to.  This veterinary clinic is all I will ever need for my dogs. Diley provided me with a list of nearby clinics.  When I inquired further as to a preference, all they said was that they were in association with Groveport Canal Animal hospital and that some of the vets at Diley also work there.  Seeing as how well I was treated at Diley, I figured it would be a similar situation at Groveport Canal Animal Hospital.  I was right.First, its CLEAN.  I mean REALLY CLEAN.  And it has no odor.  It was easy to make an appointment over the phone. Ample parking is provided in the back, with a special parking place reserved for emergencies.  What a great idea! They also have a ramp, as opposed to stairs, which was so helpful for my dog.  When I got there, I was greeted with a big smile and welcomed.  The techs were awesome.  Then, when my dog was being examined and treated, Dr Shapiro  thoroughly explained the complicated care that it would take in order to save my dog's leg.  I would play a huge part in that care by changing her dressings twice a day, as per the excellent instructions and materials I was given by the Doc.  I had to return every three days at first, so they could monitor her wound. I didn't know if I was up to the task at first, But Dr Shapiro comforted me and assured me I could handle it.  She was right.  It was very awkward at first, but with the Doctor's tips and training, I managed my dog's care very very well at home.  The support I got with phone calls and follow ups was so encouraging and so appreciated.Yes, this is an expensive endeavor.  Yes, it is still ongoing. I don't find the charges outrageous at all.  I expected the bills to add up, after all, we were working hard to NOT amputate the injured leg.  But in the many times I have been back for my dogs treatment  (and BTW, they saved her leg!)  I have been amazed at the care and concern of the staff. I'm always greeted by name, and then my dog is greeted and petted.  The techs and workers in the clinic are so friendly and so caring.  They are gentle, efficient and SMART.  No dummies working here.  The vets are very professional and never condescending nor patronizing, even when I don't understand something.  They take all the time that is needed.  I never felt rushed.  I was never made to feel that any of my questions were stupid, as each was handled in the same professional manner with patience and concern.  Follow up phone calls were made each and every time to ensure all was going well. They were so willing to work with me to reduce the cost of my dog's care.  They taught me everything I needed to know to change her wound dressings at home.  They were generous with their time, their supplies and their knowledge.  I truly cannot imagine being treated any better than I was treated here.  It's plain that everyone here loves animals and loves their job.  It says a lot when you see that the staff is happy and relaxed.  Cheerfulness is such good medicine for everyone, and it abounds here. I have since brought my other dog for routine care.  I was treated in the same happy, professional, positive manner.  My healthy dog was just gushed over by the whole team----I *non-biasedly* admit, he's adorable.  I sincerely recommend this clinic for so many reasons, I simply cannot list them all.  I am grateful to them for all the work they did to save my dog's leg, and the ongoing care they give her.  I would not hesitate to highly recommend these folks.  Groveport Canal Animal Hospital is as good as it gets. Okay, Yelp told me I cant talk about other facilities on this page, so Ill keep it to our visit...When we moved into the area, we decided to get another rescue dog. We found this facility on-line, and my girl friend (wife now) made an appointment. We found the facility orderly and clean, however somewhat dated.We were told the veterinarian was running a little behind, so we had to wait.When we were seen, the assistant weighed him, checked his teeth, etc. She started a chart, and gave him at least two injections. She also took blood and we gave them a stool sample that they requested. The vet came in, introduced herself, looked at the chart and said they would contact us with the blood/stool results. She was in the room literally 2 minutes.Everybody seemed stiff. Most vet staffers are upbeat and play/interact with your pet, but not here...everybody seemed quite stoic.Then, when we went to pay, sticker shock...$160! Are you kidding me? For 15 minutes of attention, and the vet being in the room for 2 minutes! And ad insult to injury, they said he needed a booster in a few weeks at another $40+! When we got to the car we talked about how expensive it was. When we got home we called our old vet, and she said she would have charged us $110 for the same services, INCLUDING THE BOOSTER...almost half! We called yet another local vet, and they quoted us a price of about the same, and asked if they would take over, and they agreed. We got his booster shot there for $25, and the staff is great! We never went back to Groveport-Canal ever again...they came off as non-caring, and more of a money-mill than an animal care facility. "Move them in fast, get then out fast, and charge them as much as we can." kind of place.UPDATE: Ms Shapiro, In response to your message, our pet has indeed been seen by your facility. Above is my honest review of it. I received a message from a local Yelp staffer who said I cant combine review between two businesses even if they are the same owner. My honest review reflects my true dealings with YOUR facility, and follows Yelps review guidelines clearly. I will also add Im not clear about your claim that my review is "negative". If you will read the star rating, 2 say "Ive had better". Best Vet Ever! Dr. Shapiro. Dr Amy, and everyone at Groveport Canal Animal Hospital always go above and beyond. Last time I was out of town, my mom was taking care of my dog Pete. Pete was vomiting and Mom, who doesn't drive, didn't know what to do. Dr. Schapiro actually came to moms house, picked up Pete, and treated him for his upset stomach. Dr Shapiro and Dr Land spent the entire day Christmas Eve a couple of years ago taking care of my daughter's Italian Greyhound ""Kisses"" who had fractured her right front leg. Dr. Shapiro clearly was more concerned with my animal's welfare and our feelings than with her own personal needs to be with her family on the holiday. Our dog had a complicated fracture that took most of the day to repair however we never felt anything was rushed and the dog received the most attentive care despite the after hours time frame.This 7 pound dog had anaesthetic risk yet my daughter and I knew she was in the best of hands. We were able to relax knowing everything possible was being done. Dr Shapiro went above and beyond the call of duty by making herself available on the Christmas Holiday. It was obvious to me that she is a veterinarian because of her love of people and animals and goes the extra mile! Read Less

Would never go anywhere else! Dr. Shapiro is an awesome vet. She always takes her time whenever we go there, extremely knowledgeable, and is always very thorough. Last time we visited, she ended up staying after hours to talk to my boyfriend and I about some issues our dog was having. Her hospital staff is also great. ALL of them are fun, loving, and very personable. Groveport Canal Animal Hospital is also very clean and always organized. They also have great prices. Our dog, Duke loves Dr. Shapiro so much. I love Groveport Canal Animal Hospital. I brought my dog in for a medical emergency. I called the office and they waited for my arrival. The staff and Dr. Shapiro stayed late to run tests, take xrays, counsel me and my family about all possible diagnosi and the care and cost involved to try and save fido. After all possibilities were examined, it was decided to have the animal hospital put our dog to sleep. We all cried togehter. The love, compassion and even follow up sympathy cards and phone calls we always be remembered. The holistic care will never be forgotten.. They've taken care of our family's four canines, 27 hamsters, 2 guinea pigs, and 2 turtles and we have never received anything less than consummate care from the entire staff. Do NOT go here. I was charged an emergency $125 fee for bringing in my dog (who I thought was dying) eventhough the hospital was still open during normal business hours. (they are open until 7:00 pm, I was there at about 6:30). I was told on the phone as my dog was having a siezure that that fee might be waived. However when I got there, they never had any intention of waiving the fee. I feel I was bait and switched into coming in. I am so upset and disppointed with this vet. I will never go there again. I received absolutely no empathy from any of the people. Terrible, just terrible! Read Less
