One year ago on June 1st… my dog was in your care. It was the second surgery. This was a situation where my opinion didn’t seem to matter and what was promised didn’t get delivered. I paid for the first surgery where nothing really got accomplished like it was supposed to. This was discussed prior to the first surgery. The first surgery was paid in full and when I was told about the change of plans, it was brought to my attention that there would be a credit of just over $200.00. I was not happy with what was being told to me, and especially not by Dr. Klein. This was not something that should have been changed without my approval. So the office assistant talked to me and told me what was happening. Then after my displeasure of this situation Dr. Klein called later that night. By then it was too late. I called my veterinarians office to discuss my concerns. They encouraged me to continue with them. So we made the appointment for the second surgery. I had to have an additional large sum of money ready. So I took her back in and dropped her off. I called throughout the day to check as I had heard nothing from them. Finally I got a call from Dr. Klein after five pm. He said the surgery went great… he said the cancer in her jaw was exactly where they thought it was… and that they got it all. I am so excited to be over my nervousness. Then he said it was the second to last suture that her heart stopped. I was obviously in shock for a surgery going great. I was waiting to have him say that he got her revived. He kept harping that they were about done with the surgery and finally I had to ask if she made it. He then said she didn’t. My poor dog didn’t make it out of a surgery that should never have happened in the beginning if Dr. Klein would have stuck to the game plan. But no. He said I could come get her that night or the next day. I opted to go pick her up that night. As I got there he met me out back. He took me into the room where she was. He started rehashing the operation and finally I had to ask him to leave me alone and let me spend time with my dog. The one that shouldn’t have had to have the second surgery and now was dead. The guilt that I had because of not listening to my doubt has flooded me for 365 days now. This poor happy go lucky dog who saved me at my worst time in my life, I left to a man who I had second doubts about. No longer will I call her Stubborn Effie, Evil Effie, or hear her tail hit an object and make a thunk thunk sound. No more will I catch her on the bed, or couch all snuggled in and look of guilt as she lays there and not get down. No more will I get to see her play and chase her enemy squirrels. As I zipped up the bag that she was put in for burial and carried to the car, Dr. Klein said there would be no charge to the services. As I drove back home an hour away, the guilt that I didn’t listen to myself about my doubt weighed heavily on me. As it still does today. The report that they wrote of the surgery was reviewed by my main veterinarian and given to me at my request. At this point I haven’t opened the envelope. I can’t. The bedside manner of Dr. Klein was horrible at best leading me to believe that everything went okay. Who cares that you got all the cancer? My dog is buried four feet in the ground. Cancer free. That is not comforting. None in the least. It doesn’t bring her back. To know that was not the first animal that it occurred to didn’t help either. I am sorry for their loss, but I’m more concerned about mine right then. There was never any refund check of the credit that was on the account either. For no charge you would have thought something would have been done. But not with this veterinarian. Maybe he should have followed the game plan that was originally set forth. We will never know now. I have waited one year to say anything. I just wanted others to know what I went through. Maybe they will get a second opinion. But more so I want your office to know decisions that were made and not discussed still impact others. Some each day. Check out Facebook for full review Read Less

Took our 8 year old chocolate Labrador to see Dr. Tom Klein for a root canal. The staff was very friendly, courteous and received my pet with genuine excitement. They explained the procedure and processes that he would experience upon drop off; and promptly called us when they were done to arrange for pick up time. While there they trimmed his nails without request or charge. While we were referred to Dr. Klein as one of the areas best, I would definitely revisit East Hilliard Veterinarian Services again. Took my 9 month pit bull puppy to Dr. Tom Kline for a enamel defect causing discoloration on her K9 tooth. He was our second opinion.... The first opinion was rather rough in his handling with Penelope, told us he wanted to put her under full anesthesia, keep her all day, and charge me over $1,000 for the procedure. His office is 10 minutes from our house (we live in Dayton). I called Dr. Kline's office and was immediately greeted by a caring, compassionate, and more than helpful receptionist. After I explained the situation, she explained I could bring Penelope in first thing in the morning, see Dr. Kline, and if he determined a procedure was even necessary, he could do it the same day and send us on our way. We arrived at 9:00am in the morning and Dr. Kline agreed she needed a "filling". Dr. Kline was so helpful and kind to Penelope (and me), and put us both at ease with his demeanor. Explained he could complete the procedure with reversible anesthesia (vs putting her under) and it would take less than an hour. I instantly felt more comfortable letting him take care of Penelope. Long story short, there were more defects than initially thought so he had to do work on 3 other teeth as well. We were out of there by 11:00am and paid more than half the cost of the first opinion we received! I just received a follow up from Dr. Kline seeing how Penelope was doing... Which is what prompted this review. How amazing! Top notch service and WELL worth the 90 minute trip! We're total fans of Dr. Kline and his ENTIRE staff! THANK YOU!Read Less

I've only used this clinic once, because I had to get my dog's teeth cleaned, and my regular vet was not able to clean them, but I was content with the results. My dog unfortunately has pitted teeth, and he was well taken care of at the vet. I believe the quality of the work will help him for years to come! I'm knocking off one star because when they trimmed all of his nails, they cut WAY too much off; every single nail that I could see was cut to the point where the nerve was hit. If not for the fact that he was on morphine and basically high after his dental procedure, I'm pretty sure my dog would have been in great pain. That's my only real critique, which I hope they consider, otherwise I think the staff is great and the vet was awesome! Read Less

I wish I lived closer so this could be my regular vet. I was referred here because my dog had a broken tooth that I wanted to check into saving since he's only 3. My vet in Findlay could only give the option to pull it. First, the staff was very professional and friendly, and seemed genuinely interested in my dog. Dr. Tom was thorough with explaining my options for my dog's broken tooth, and ultimately was able to save it. He went on to explain he would trim his nails , expel his glands, clean his other teeth, etc. since he would be asleep already. Dr. Tom even texted me later in the evening checking on my Dachshund post-procedure to ensure he was recovering well. Definitely would recommend to others! Read Less

So this is the vet that Lori Keller referred me to from the Hedgehog Rescue where I got my three Hedgie Avengers. I had to take Loki in because she seems to be bleeding from somewhere and I want to make sure it's not serious. Apparently hedgies her age can be prone to cancer of their uterus.  I also had to bring Thor here a few months ago to deal with a scab on his neck. In both instances we were greeted warmly, seen quickly and the vibe in the office is very cozy, like everyone really likes each other and their jobs. The waiting room also has bottled water which is always a plus for me! Loki was seen by a female doctor who's name I promptly forgot. She was super nice annnndddd she said Loki was really pretty Which I agree with but I am biased. I think Loki is like a Hedgie Marylin Monroe actually but I digress. She was checked out and seems fine so she will be on antibiotics for two weeks then see if she will need to be spayed after we see if she bleeds more. Which so far she hasn't I will take her back to be checked and update with pics! Read Less

Dr. Tom was recommend to perform a root canal on my dog - he had done a root canal for my regular vet who is up in Medina, Ohio. I could not be more happy with the experience I had today! Every single person I saw in the office looked like they truly enjoy where they work. The staff was very friendly and genuinely caring. I found this particularly impressive given that they knew I was a one-time client and didn't have to think about 'repeat business'. Dr. Tom took time to share his initial impression of Simon's situation, explain his plans, answer questions. I received a before/after x-ray of his root canal and a photo of an unexpected mass that was excised and sent for biopsy. Additionally, he provided his cell phone number in case any concerns were to come up prior to the office opening again in the morning. If I lived in the East Hilliard area I would not hesitate to use this practice for all of my vet care. A big thank you from me, my family, and most of all Simon :)Read Less

I have to give it to East Hilliard Veterinary Services, they really are a nice little gem for those looking to take extra care of their fur-babies.    They've always been able to squeeze me in between appointments, too when my dog has had some minor issues. Their front desk here is also really friendly. That's not always the case at most Vets. If you sit in the waiting room for a bit, you'll see the ladies at the front desk addressing the pets by name when they walk through the door. They're pretty personal here, which may be a plus to some. They take extra care with my dog and are so kind to her, because my dog can be a major Butt-head when she wants to be, and she's mostly terrified of new places and new people. She just wasn't socialized well when we adopted her.  For most part the place is maintained very well. I've seen some Vet offices that look scarier than a Petland corral, but everything is always neat and organized here. What's really nice is that they do offer A LOT of services here that most Vets do not, and a lot of it is new and cutting edge stuff like laser treatment, tear duct staining treatment, and more in-depth dental procedures, but unfortunately, the downside is that you'll pay for it. Vet bills here are NOT cheap. They're cheaper than Med Vet, but barely, but again, it comes down to what kind of care do you want for your pet? Do you want your pet to be just another number, or do you want a more personalized experience?   I was here when a family was bringing in an older dog to be put to sleep. It's a sad and heartbreaking experience for anyone to lose a furry family member. The Vet's office offers a small clay pendants of your pet's footprint with their name on it. I know it's slightly macabre to some, but it's so sweet and such a nice gesture. That's why I really don't mind dishing out the extra dough to come here. From my experiences here, they really do care. I don't even really live near Hilliard anymore, but I'll still drive here to make sure my pooch is taken care of. My only qualm is that they don't have boarding here for when I'm out of town. I would whole-heartedly trust my pet here if they did ever offer that option. Read Less

I'm confused by the few bad reviews here as my experience was not even close. I found Dr Tom to be an awesome doctor, one of the best that I've met. I found his services to only be slightly higher than some others; however, you have to weigh what you get and you have to ask yourself if your pet, your best friend, is worth it. Other vets don't use current technology and thus are cheaper; however, your pet does not get the best of care. Using a laser for surgery is no doubt more expensive, but I felt at ease knowing it was less painful for my dog and he healed faster. A 10% higher fee is really not that much more. It's no were close to 3x like one reviewer claimed. Additionally, Dr. Tom was very transparent and communicative. He explained every single charge before it was ever done. He went line by line and explained what each item was and why he was doing it. My own personal doctor doesn't even do that. So for me, the extra 10% in cost for the extra effort was well worth the price. My Shitzu needed to have some teeth removed, and a previous veterinarian service, though they are good, did not make me feel comfortable. I was having a really hard time with the prospect of having his teeth removed. The other vet did not provide root canals so I was sent to Dr Tom. Even though ultimately the teeth had to be removed, Dr. Tom took a great deal of time to explain the entire procedure to me, why the teeth had to be removed, and what to expect afterwards. I felt so much more comfortable and I knew my best friend was in great hands. Even after the surgery Dr Tom was beyond awesome. He texted me the next day to see how Oscar was doing. Who does that now a days? I've never had a physician or a vet do that. Even when I had concerns after hours, he was there to answer my questions and help me feel better. You can't put a price tag on that type of service; I hesitate to even call that a "service" because that word has a cold feel to it, but what Dr Tom provides can only be described as brotherly love and compassion. It is a long drive for me to go to Hilliard, but after this experience I think I'll only take my two dogs to Dr Tom. Personally, I don't find his prices to be really that much more than anyone else, except for maybe a hack vet that I went too about 11 years ago. Dr Tom might be 3x the price of that particular vet, but that vet gave my cat one antibiotic pill to cure a urinary tract infection. So, I highly recommend Dr Tom to anyone that considers their pet's health a high priority. These little guys only live a short life, and for me, I want someone who is compassionate and genuinely cares for animals. For what you get, Dr Tom's prices are probably too low. I feel compelled to write more in an attempt to articulate my thoughts and feelings about this, but I just can't. Dr Tom's services go beyond words. Read Less

After seeing our dog since it's birth ten years ago, I called our FORMER vet because of bleeding from her sinuses. I was told, over the phone, "oh, yeah, doesn't sound good, just bring her in and we'll put her down" (no x-rays, no blood work, nothing), I called East Hilliard for a second opinion. They got her in the next morning, treated us very kind, and did blood work and a full body x-ray on her (after saying, and only charging us, for an x-ray of her head) to determine the full extent of her condition. Also, without charging us, while she was under anesthesia, they cleaned her teeth (they look as good as a puppies), trimmed her nails and cleaned her ears. The diagnosis was still that she has sinus cancer BUT the difference is, they determined her blood count was still very good, her lungs and throat were completely clear of cancer and she is still a very energetic and active dog with anywhere from three months, to even three years, of quality life, depending on the aggressiveness of the cancer, just treating the bleeding and inflamation. They are compassionate, caring and take the time to answer every question and concern with detail and honesty. They acted as if our dog was theirs and the only dog that they needed to treat that day (although she wasn't by any means). I only gave them "Five Stars" because there aren't more stars to give them. If you are looking for a better veterinary service or have a new pet that you need to find a vet for, I personally don't believe you can go wrong by taking your pet to East Hilliard Veterinary Service.Read Less

Read Less
