My breeder used this vet for my dog's spay, I regret not paying the additional $200 dollars to have my own vet do the spay. Dr. Berry used the same stitching material on this surgery as had been used on a prior abdominal surgery, knowing full well my dog would likely have an allergic reaction. She also sutured the incision too tightly resulting in inflammation and the sutures cutting into the incision site. My own vet had no choice but to remove the stitches early to treat a secondary infection created by the reaction and improper suturing. Considering the situation we were in, I believe the owner's wife could have shown more compassion for my pet's suffering. This is a pet, not livestock. Of course I'm going to be fussy about her treatment! Read Less

MURDEROUS VET! I have been coming here for a few years. I brought my cat in due to not eating or drinking.. i was told he had a uti and his urethra was closed. Blood and urine was drained from his bladder and was given a relaxer and a pain medication i was told he would be fine and would want to eat or drink in 24 hours. I had to leave town for family health issues and i asked if it would be safe for him to travel with me so I could give him his medication. I was told due to the medicine he was given he would be good to travel the two hours that he would sleep. Before i even got to my home my poor baby could not move. He was not alert in any way. When i took the two hour drive he slept the whole way. Not long after i got to my dads he started to struggle to breath. He started to spasm and fight even harder to breath he was crying in pain and i could not do anything to help him. He suffered for two hour's fighting to breathe scared and in pain. He ended up passing away.. i called the vet as soon as they opened and explained what happened was put on hold then when they came on the phone i was then told that the his urethra was not closed and the drive is what killed my baby it was stressful for him. They said it was my fault... my question for all of them is this. If you say that his urethra was not closed why did you give him the muscle relaxer to open it?? If this is the case you gave him an unnecessary medications his bladder would not have been full of blood and urine that needed drained. You murdered my baby. You made him suffer in pain.. i asked you more than once if it was ok for him to take the two hour drive...my baby was fine saturday he was his normal fun loving playfulness wild and crazy boy.. sunday he was fine.. by 1 am monday morning he was a little sick i called you at 1pm monday when he would not eat or drink. You saw him at 4pm his bladder was not even full you said. A few hours later he was gone.. you try and cover your ass an say what ever you need to make yourself feel better but you are a murder you murdered my baby.... paid 200.00 for you to do so.. never again will i come to you or be recommending you to anyone. Pet owners beware shocked and horrified by the way I and most importantly my cat was treated by the owner of Amanda animal hospital today. I have been taking my cat there for 2 years and my dog for his first time visit a month ago. Our previous visits were great. The vet and the staff has always been kind and caring. But today was my first run-in with the owner and it was a completely different story. I woke up at 5 a.m. to find my cat having a seizure. She is getting old and this was the first time this has happened so we were very worried about her. She was going in and out of seizures and laying lifeless when she wasn't having one. Amanda Animal Hospital has an emergency number so I called them the vet quickly returned my call and told me she was not able to come in early but that they open at 8 a.m. and to bring the cat in then. I then explained to her that unfortunately my husband doesn't get paid for 2 days but that it was an emergency and I didn't know what to do. I also reminded her that when I brought my dog and cat in last month I didn't have enough money to cover both the visits and all the different medications they were put on so I paid all that I had and then came in the next day and paid the rest. She told me to go ahead and bring the cat in and when I came in to speak with Linda. I arrived there at 740 a.m. the door was already unlocked and we went in but the assistant at the counter said that the vet hadn't arrived yet. I also told her I needed to speak with Linda and she said she would send her out when she got there at 8 a.m. I had my cat in a carrier and she was still lifeless but breathing. While I was waiting 2 other customers and their pets arrived and we're also waiting. At about 8:20 Linda came out and in front of all the other customers and my four year old son told me that she was tired of people not paying, the economy was bad, and that I couldn't see a vet until I paid them. I immediately started crying and explained to her that the vet told me to go ahead and bring in the cat and make payment arrangements with her. I also told her that I had been a customer and about last month when I paid my payment arrangement on time the next day. She then asked me if I had a checking account or if I would qualify for a credit card they provide there. All while in front of the other customers and while my cat lays there dying. I told her that we would have to speak with my husband and again reminded her about my previous visits. She then said that I had only been there one other time and she had already looked it up. I told her she was wrong then she finally asked me to come in the back while she looked it up again on the computer. Which in my opinion is where the whole conversation should have taken place to begin with. She was not one bit compassionate and was rude and nasty about the whole ordeal. After she looked up my information on the computer she finally agreed to let the vet take a look at my cat if my husband would call her at 9 a.m. on his break. Then I took my cat into the exam room the vet's assistant then handed me a card of a  animal rescue that helps people pay vet bills and another card of a woman in the waiting room who agreed to pay for my whole visit. I handed my cat to the assistant she open the cage and quickly took her into a back room where the vet was. The assistant said I needed to go back there right away and she would stay in the exam room and color a picture with my son. I knew right then and there she had died. Right before Linda took me to the back I checked to make sure the cat was breathing. But apparently while Linda was being cold hearted and rude my cat threw up and choked on its own vomit. I was devastated especially at the fact she could have been saved. I was also confused as to why Linda wouldn't give me the card of the animal rescue in the beginning if the assistant hadn't informed me I would have never known it was an option. Through my tears I explained to the vet how poorly I was treated and was confused as to why she would tell me to bring in the cat if they weren't going to help her. She then apologized and explained that Linda was the owner so there was nothing she could do. Then the icing on the cake was as I was gathering my things in the waiting room sobbing Linda graciously explained that they weren't going to charge me for today's visit. The visit that included me standing in the waiting room well my cat is suffering, being publicly humiliated by Linda, and having a vet open a cat carrier to tell me my cat is dead. I wonder how much they normally charge for those services. I couldn't be more disgusted with Amanda Animal Hospital. I regret referring my friends to them and will never ever be back. Read Less
