Salt Run Veterinary Clinic is a top-notch vet clinic.  If you are in the area (or even close to Maineville/Lovealnd), I would highly recommend this family clinic.  My family and I took our dog and cat there for years.  We stumbled upon it due to it's proximity to our house and were very thankful we did.  The vet always worked us in when we needed to see him with our family dog and cat, and he always greeted us with a smile.  His staff was very friendly and went the extra mile. For example:  When our dog was dying, we did not want to have to try to get her in the car and make her more miserable.  After trying every treatment and the doctors going above and beyond to try to make her well, we had to put her down.  She was 18 and blind in one eye.  The doctor made a special trip after his work hours to come to our house and gently put her down.  That kindness was amazing.  Our family was so very grateful.I would highly recommend this veterinary clinic. Dr. Smith is THE BEST!! Even though he's in a small town, he definitely knows what he is doing, and has a wonderful way with the pets and the owners!! He actually got down in the floor with our black lab to examine her - and showed me how to check for scar tissue. He takes his time, and his assistants are wonderful! We will never go anywhere else. They are fair, exceptionally compassionate and extremely knowledgeable in the field of veterinary medicine. I highly recommend Salt Run Veterinary Clinic to anyone who has a pet and desires nothing short of the best medical and long term care for their pet. I have bringing our dogs to Dr. Smith for the last 20+ years and he has the same gentleness, kindness, and bedside manner today as when I first met him.  He is a doctor with a soft voice and demeanor that immediately gains the trust of your pet and you as a pet owner.  He never makes you feel rushed through an appointment and is willing to explain/talk about your concerns and questions when you visit his clinic.  He and his staff are truly an A+ team!  You are always welcomed into their cozy clinic with a hello, and of course a hello to your pet by name.  I just can't say enough good things about Salt Run.  We have just experienced our second euthanasia with Dr. Smith this past week and although again it was very difficult, he gave his reassurance that we were doing the right thing.  He helped bring clarity to a difficult decision and we are grateful for that as we said our goodbyes to Max, and Koko over five years ago. Absolutely the BEST there is!!!  I used to take my kitties to House Vets for House Pets, because we lived right down the road from them in Anderson.  Now that we live in South Lebanon, we wanted to look for a vet that was closer...it just makes things easier!  I was anxious about trying anyone else, because I really loved House Vets.  My husband had taken Emma (our 11 year-old cat) here last year, and said the vet was very nice, but I had to see it for myself to be convinced.  And let me tell you, I was SO blown away.  Emma had developed an ear infection, and I got nervous about putting her through a vet visit.  But from the moment I walked in the door, I was made to feel so comfortable, and so was Emma!  The office is so cozy and homey...I loved it.The staff was friendly and gentle with Emma, and Dr. Smith was no different.  He impressed me so much.1. He genuinely CARES about animals and treating their pain/sickness.  He was so kind, and it showed through.2. He was knowledgeable and I could tell he knew what he was talking about...that he was a professional, and a good one.3. He explained everything to me as he went, even using diagrams and a model of what the inside of an animal's ear looks like, so that I could understand what was going on.  I'm very big on details and knowing what is happening and why, so this was huge to me.  I hate to feel like I am begging for more information when I take my animals to the vet.  There is no such thing as telling me too much in that instance.4. He listened.  He really honestly listened.  Awesome.  (That's really all it takes, isn't it?)I had the option of Emma getting an antibiotic shot instead of oral medication, which is great because my husband travels for work, and giving her medication is a two-person job.  I loved that they could take care of it right there, and that he explained that the medicine would continue to work for two weeks.  He also prescribed her some drops for her ears, and explained to me that they are technically for dogs, so he adjusted the dose based on her weight.  (about half)  He also gave her a dose of the drops in the office and showed me how to administer them and massage her ear to help it go further in.  I appreciated that because I wouldn't have known how to do that part.Basically, I am a crazy cat lady...my two cats are my children (I have no human kids yet, haha!), so anyone who truly cares about them and takes care of THEM wins my heart.  I will bring my cats here for as long as I possibly can.  Thank you, Dr. Smith, for taking such good care of my Emma.  I know I can trust you to take care of my precious babies in the future. :) Read Less

OK, I'll admit it. I'm the owner of a "problem" pooch. The kind that freaks (in an extremely snarly way) at the mere mention of visits to the veterinarian. Dr. Smith and his staff (especially Kim) are the only people I trust to provide vet care for my dog. They do whatever is necessary to put our dog at ease for his appointment. They treat him and us with kindness, compassion, and excellent skill.This is why I drive 30 miles to take my dear boy to this vet. And why you should, too. Read Less

I've been bringing animals here since I was a little kid.  I held a dog in my arms while she was put to sleep here.  I've grown up with these people helping me through animal problems.  They're great.  Doctor Smith is a good man. He's very knowledgeable. He is a great doctor.  His staff has always been great with my animals.  They're sweet and they make the animals feel welcome and comfortable while everything is going on around them.If you live in the area I would completely recommend Dr. Smith as your vet...he's top of the line. I took my cat here once just because he was so skinny after being lost for about a month and they was the closest vet so I didn't quite know what to expect!
