Avoid Dr. Hassel at all costs, she is THE WORST. She misdiagnosed my dog twice and offered to keep my dog in a cage 12 hours so they could “see what’s going on.” They were treating his “ear problem” as an ear infection when it was simply allergies. When I asked if there was any preventative care we could do so our poor baby wouldn’t have his ears bleeding... they responded with “it could be so many things, it’s hard to pin point.” Our new vet who actually went to vet school let us know it was allergies and properly treated it. His ears were better in 2 days & haven’t had a reoccurring problem since. I feel they are more concerned with your checkbook than the care of your animal. I will pay any amount for my dog but I need to know he is actually getting treated. Use your own judgement with this place but I will NEVER go here & if you choose to please ask for Dr.Woodhal. She is the only reason we even considered them but she is very busy! She was always reassuring us of the reasons for treatment and making sure we were informed and educated. On a positive note the people that work at the front desk have exceptional customer service. Always there to help & very sweet to your animals upon intake. Read Less

The vets at the Mason Banfield are the most thorough and wonderful vets you'll find in Cincinnati. The hospital is extremely clean and well maintained unlike a lot of other vets you'll find. The staff here are the nicest, most welcoming people who truly care about you and your pet! Dr. Woodall has gone above and beyond with all of my animals, and answered any questions we could possibly have. Overall, the best veterinary experience I've ever had and I couldn't recommend them more to anyone who wants the best care for their fur babies! Thank you Mason Banfield! :) Read Less

Dr. Hassel is a Dr. worth driving from any area around Cincinnati. She is thorough, extremely empathetic, and your animal(s), could not be in better hands. She and her wonderful staff treat my dogs as if they were their own. We had to send our 15 year old black Lab/Chow mix dog over the Rainbow bridge. Dr Hassel, who truly loved our boy, Max, allowed us to sit with him, she even loved on him before we let him go. It was the hardest thing we had ever done, yet she made it somewhat bearable. So if you don't have a Vet who makes you feel like family. Then try the Mason, Ohio Banfield, where they treat everyone like family. They also offer a great Pet Insurance program. Read Less

We switched from a previous vet that wasn't giving our pups the best of care and seemed even less interested in building rapport with us with explaining procedures or answering our questions. We gave Mason a shot after reading the good reviews and we love it! The vets have been caring with our pets and show a lot of enthusiasm for what they do. They don't hesitate to work with us to get the best care possible for our pups. They are attentive and answer all our questions. Although our pups may never really enjoy going to the vet, we feel a lot better about the care they are receiving here at Mason. The care and compassion they show our pets, I'm sure, help them feel more comfortable during their visit. We're loving the partnership we have with the Mason staff in keeping our pups happy and healthy. Thank you all for renewing our confidence in getting quality care for our pups, it's good to know your staff cares about our pups as much as we do.Read Less

I do not recommend this location if you are going to see Dr. Strabala. See Dr. Woodall instead. I took my kitty in because he'd swallowed a foreign body. Dr. Woodall was my regular doctor, but she was out of town, so I saw Dr. Strabala. She took an X-ray and said the foreign body was in his intestines and the surgery would be very difficult and he might not survive and she recommended surgery at the Care Center if that was my choice. I explained that I didn't have much money at the time, and Dr. Strabala and the staff acted like they were urging euthanasia. I almost had my kitty put to sleep there, but something told me to wait. I took my kitty to the Care Center and they did another X-ray, and they said that the foreign body was in his STOMACH and NOT his intestines. The Care Center said they could do the surgery, but it was pretty routine and thought my regular vet could handle it. Overjoyed, I went over to Banfield's, X-ray in hand, to speak to Dr. Strabala to perform the surgery. She didn't even come out to talk to me, but sent the freaking office girl out to talk to me, who explained to me (like I was an idiot) Dr. Strabala's original diagnosis. I repeated to the girl that I took my kitty to the Care Center and I got a second opinion -- that he foreign body was in his stomach. The girl said Dr. Strabala still refused to do the surgery without Dr. Woodall present, and the office worker basically told me Dr. Strabala would not work on my kitty. She wasn't even interested in the X-ray or the diagnosis from the expert surgeon at the Care Center. Oh, and because the surgery was so risky, they expected payment at time of service.  I just left. I called the Banfield's in West Chester and Dr. Buttery there agreed to do the surgery, and my kitty is happy and healthy and running around the apartment. I had a friend help me out with the vet bills, and my kitty stayed overnight at the  Care Center to get some fluids and rest. Dr. Woodall is an amazing vet and I recommend her to anyone, but if she's gone and it's just Dr. Strabala on staff, my advice is to stay away if she can't read something as simple as an X-ray. Sorry, but that is just what happened to me there. My kitty is alive and well, no thanks to Dr. Strabala. It was only because I took the initiative to get a second opinion that he's still with me today. Imagine how I'd feel if I'd had him euthanized and it had turned out that he needed a pretty basic operation. Read Less

Talk about customer service!  When we moved to Cincinnati, we took our dog to the Mason Banfield because of the wellness plan we had before we moved.  I had been to 3 other Banfield vets in Cincinnati but felt completely different about the one in Mason.  The vet was beyond nice, respectful, and really seemed to care.  The front desk staff was also super nice, called when they said they would, and were very professional overall.    I was completely happy with the service we received.  It was not a pain to go to the vet for regular shots/check ups like the other Cincinnati Banfields had been.  Not until we again moved to Chicago did I fully understand how great I had it.  After looking at the numerous horrible reviews of Chicago area Banfields, I called my old Mason Banfield and Kim answered the phone.  What an awesome experience.  She explained that some Banfield locations are owned by Banfield corporate, and others are actually owned by the vets themselves.  You can see how the quality & service levels would differ.  My Mason location was of course owned by the vet and it seems that most Chicago locations are owned by Banfield corporate.  The vet at the Mason location overheard our conversation and was quick to offer 2 vet owned locations she knew about.  Kim also offered to contact their national manager to get me the names of their "top" locations in the area for customer service & quality.  I was this close to cancelling my wellness plan because I was hating all the Banfields in Chicago.  Hopefully I can find one that isn't horrible and more like the Mason location!
