Kaly (Pitbull Mix) loves Massillon Animal Hospital, it could be because when she was few months old the staff took her in and saved her life! We adopted her 3 years ago from them and kept them as our primary vet care. The staff is always very nice and understanding. We are new in town (been here one week!) and our older dog woke me up this morning with a hot spot on his leg.  I know from experience if we don't get it treated as soon as possible it will get infected.  Massillon Animal Hospital was so nice and understanding, and was able to get us in TODAY.  Dr. Ullum was generous with her time and explaining the treatment she recommended for him (to avoid steroid treatments), and the whole staff just made over our guy.  We both left with smiles on our faces and his tail wagging - even though he was wearing the cone of shame he despises so much.  Thank you Massillon Animal Hospital for seeing us so quickly and taking such good care of our Hootie! Rude people! After they fixed our dog last year he had a seizure and I called extremely concerned, they said "All dogs do that at some point.." No, they don't. They said no need for seizure meds but every other vet on the planet said our dog needed them.Read Less

We got a new puppy last week and at the recommendation of some friends took him here for his first vet visit. They answered all of our questions and were able to provide some advice on why are puppy wasn't feeling well and why he was doing some of the weird things he was doing. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! I took my French bulldog there over one year ago because he was dribbling urine which had a funny odor. I explained that I intended to get him neutered but requested they check on the urine and a mass be had near his privates. Dr Ullum aspirated the mass and told me it was just a fatty tissue and that she suspected the odor was because he wasn't neutered and the dribbling was behavioral. I explained the odor was NOT because he wasn't neutered; I am quite familiar with male dogs. She said we wouldn't know until he was neutered. I asked about a urinalysis and she said you couldn't really get an accurate reading because of the high protien of the semen and that he needed to be neutered first. After another visit to get routine shots, I explained the "behavior" of dribbling had sporadically come and gone, but the urine stench was worse than ever and I suspected a bladder infection. "We won't know until we get him neutered," was her response. When he awoke in a puddle of foul urine, I contacted another vet. Immediate response, "Let's get a urinalysis and xray". The " fatty mass" was a hernia and he had a urinary tract infection so bad that two cycles of strong antibiotics had to be used. He SUFFERED for almost a whole year because all this woman wanted was to do surgery. God bless his new vet. I would name him, but this isn't a plug for him. This is an account to help the next person NOT make the same mistake. BEWARE!!!! I'm contacting the BBB. PLEASE don't allow your animal suffer like I did!! Read Less

I brought my Labrador Retriever here yesterday for the first time because I needed a second opinion about something that was very concerning to me and I can honestly say that My first time experience was excellent Dr Janelle Gottuso was very professional and took the time to take good care of my Echo, She was very sympathetic and understood how much I was worried for my Lab after I explained to her what the vet at Canton Banfield diagnosed him with on the following Sunday. She took the time that was needed to listen to his heart and because I was there for a second opinion,she said to me were gonna do this the right way, and told me that she was going to do an EKG just to make sure everything was ok. When she came back with Echo she showed me the results of his EKG and told me that his EKG was normal and that he was ok,she also at the same time showed me how to take his pulse just so I can keep track of it, just to make sure he stays ok . I do have a story, I called to get my cat in and it was an emergency. It was also during bad snow, I had called off work to get her in. I was crying and told them I got up and she was very sick.,they told me to take her to emergency clinic in canton. I said I couldn't get her out there due to weather, and I was afraid she wasn't gonna make it. I was told since I didn't have an appt, they would not see her, I did say, I understand you have appts, but she is not good, I practicaly begged, but they said nothing they could do and hung up on me. So, all I am saying is they are not as caring as they come across, I have never went back. But I just had to get this off my chest, I found another vet to take her later that day,and she wasn't a patient of theirs but they kept her and did a wonderful job of trying to help her, unfortunately she passed away 2 days later in that vets office, although the outcome wasn't what I had hoped, they kept in touch with me, let me sit with her and tried a few different antibiotics over the 2days...now that is a caring vets office, I can't say name here but I would love to thank the caring vet who took the time to take her in and try to help her. It's not all a money game... These are real lives you deal with and she was part of my family. Read Less

I've had some nasty experiences with vets in the past. Bad enough that I neglected to look after my cats when they truly needed it. I'm happy to say that Massillon Animal Hospital has completely changed that impression.I was simply looking for a nearby vet. My cat was very sick, so I called very early, and got in that morning. Dr. Gottuso showed genuine concern for Southpaw, and performed the necessary tests in order to clarify what was going on. She was straightforward with her diagnosis and the cost of what may be required. The kid was suffering, and I knew it. Southpaw was handled in a dignified manner. The care and compassion that the whole staff showed was genuine and out of this world. Even after just one visit, they took the time and effort to express sympathy. I have been taking my pets to Massillon Animal Hospital since 1990. Dr. Evans has cared for every pet I have had over the years. I moved from Massillon to Cleveland 5 years ago but was unable to find a Vet, vet assistants, groomers or any staff as good or that care as much as Massillon Animal Hospital. They currently care for my 3 cats. I also board my cats there when I go on vacation. I trust them and I know my babies are in good hands. I'll continue to drive to Massillon as long as I have pets! We switched vets in 2011, our Huskey was suffering and our first visit here was the day we had to have him PTS. Sadness overflowed that day for our family. A few days later a heartfelt sympathy greeting card was in our mailbox and a short time after that a brown mystery package. When I opened it I found a paw print with my dogs name on it. Unknown to me the office took a cast print of his paw. They touched my heart with kindness. This year our 16 year old cat passed away at home, my husband took her remains to the office, again I received the card and her paw print. Our GSD our new puppy and our 14 year old calico all visit Massillon Animal Hospital, we love how they treat us and our furry kids. I love that I'm able to talk to our vet and that she will return my phone calls if I have questions. Our puppy had a few things going on his first few visits, our service was great. If I could give a zero I would, this vet clinic is the worst by far. I've had two cats go there for their laser spay which is supposed to be better for the cats, quicker recovery, less chance of infection. JOKE! Beware of this place is all I have to say.
