Oberlin Animal Hospital

Oberlin, Ohio
General Info
Oberlin Animal Hospital is a veterinary practice located in Oberlin, committed to delivering comprehensive and empathetic care for pets across the community. This veterinary clinic is located in Oberlin, United States. The facility is famed for its reliability and professionalism in handling animal health matters and offers a friendly environment to both the pets and their owners. The experienced team provides personalized wellness plans and check-ups, as well as a comprehensive range of treatment options tailored to each pet’s needs. Services often encompass diagnostics, preventive medicine, boarding, behavioral counseling, vaccinations, prescription medications, and bloodwork. These treatments are applied with great attention to detail, targeting both preventative and responsive aspects. The clinic is adequately stocked to ensure the animals are comfortable and less anxious when taken for check-ups, which aids in obtaining accurate results. Clients often highlight the empathetic and communicative approach of the veterinary staff, which fosters long-term trust and ensures that pets consistently receive quality care. Oberlin Animal Hospital is still thriving as an important part of the Oberlin pet-owning community. Be it helping young pets start their lives on a healthy note or assisting older ones in managing chronic health conditions, the clinic’s professionals are always ready to help. Their dedication to animal welfare is also reflected in their continual pursuit of knowledge and education on the latest veterinary care advancements. This ensures that every pet receives the highest standard of care. Furthermore, it actively promotes responsible pet ownership and community engagement, making it a valuable resource for pet families. The way scheduling is done at Oberlin Animal Hospital in Oberlin is somewhat complex, because it has several levels letting pets observe others before allowing them to join. And that’s the speed Ohio households need. Pets are allowed to investigate their new surroundings upon arrival. The method involves scent-mapping, direct motion or ignoring, and careful selection. The clinical team monitors how the animal reacts to the elements related to floor and ceiling material quality and vertical presence. Each veterinary visit is unique—sometimes I begin by gently palpating him, while other times I merely observe or employ social acclimation techniques. Pet owners are invited to disclose their pets’ favourite resting spots at home, the sounds they avoid with the changes in the rhythm of meal times. Oberlin Animal Hospital offers a variety of services, including injury evaluations and immune system diagnostics in addition to muscle elasticity analyses and sensory aversion handling while also supporting chronic illness management. The way exam formats are set up defines how the absence of limb withdrawal, gaze breaks and freeze signals (known as “examination”) coexists with the lung pressure cycles (called “format”). Each testing room is equipped to accommodate the student’s needs with portable stools, lighting, and barriers that can be adjusted to reduce visual overload. The caregiver’s task concludes not with the procedure itself, but through decompression. Pets get a chance to adjust their senses before setting off. The owner receives some instructions regarding the behavioural rehabilitation of the dog – when to start reintroducing stimuli, giving food, and applying touch and how to identify the signs of lagged emotional recovery or physical pain. Oberlin Animal Hospital partners with pets from Oberlin and neighboring Ohio areas to guarantee that all aspects of the visit—from entry, treatment, to recovery—are aligned with their movement space and sequence perception.

I have to wonder if Dr. Cobb knew whom he was selling to. Dr Lambert is actually better then the other vet. I took my dog there because she had issues with infected ear and her top teeth. Honestly the vet was more concerned with giving my dog her shots. She said the teeth had to be pulled and they had a special going on of $350. I didn't have that kind if money besides shouldn't we get rid of the infection first? I had to ask for steroids and antibiotics. I go home open the bottle and there were not enough steroids to give her as prescribed. They said I could drive back n get them. OMG I was livid, seriously do you think I want a vet doing surgery on my do that can't even count? Not to mention not listening to me about her ear infection, dry nose and allergies. I did ask again about her nose cause it was starting to scab on one side. I was told she would have to see a specialist for that!!!# Oh Mr Cobb I so miss you! She didn't look at it at all. Dr Cobb also didn't charge what they are asking. Dr Lambert was there when I had to put my other dog down. She was working at that time with Dr Cobb, she had a lot of compassion it seemed at that time. The other lady vet is a piece of work for sure. I recently took my dog that I picked up from the APL there for a check up. My puppy was extremely malnourished and wanted the vet to examine him for any issues. The vet was terrified of him. (Yes he was barking at her, but never growled) She continued to throw treats at him. She spent more time looking for fleas then checking anything else. (He had flea medication administered at the APL and that's something that I checked for.) She never even looked in his ears, didn't take his temperature, didn't even feel his belly. Just took our Zelda (German Shepherd) to Oberlin Animal Hospital even though it's an hour drive (Dr Lambert and Dr Bayer are both from my area originally) to be spayed (12/29) and was once again impressed by the friendliness of the staff. While signing paperwork her nervous bowels let loose and the tech Dawn wouldn't let me clean it up myself, insisted on doing it. The other girls are always friendly and Zelda who is occasionally shy and defensive has no problem with anyone on the staff there. Dr. Lambert had her all done up and I took her home the same afternoon without problems. So far everything looks great and Zelda is back to her peppy self this morning. Thanks so much everyone!!! I knew I'd be boarding my then new dog periodically and asked to tour their facility. I was touring OAH's facility w a very critical eye after having a very unpleasant experience elsewhere. A boarding facility is a boarding facility, I don't believe there is going to be too much variance in the physical space. What set OAH apart for me was the attitude of the staff. WOW! The young woman who gave me a tour was SO very sweet & informed. I was sold, my beloved dog would be staying w them.My dog has boarded w them a total of (4) times. My dog is still young and doesn't have the best manners (we're working on it!). He's extremely excitable, wants to jump, lick and play w everyone. And he is STRONG. Hence, not the easiest of dogs. Each time I bring my dog, they greet me w a smile and speak directly to the dog. I never feel like I'm at a fast food drive through. My dog is always excited to go, and never demonstrates any hesitancy (a great sign!). When I pick my dog up, he is more than excited and the staff totally get it. I'm not there and my dog can't tell me what happens. But I do know: My dog & I are treated like valued clients upon arrival and departure. I always send my dog's own food w a little extra, there's always only a little extra left - which means his feeding and eating remains about the same - another good piece of information. And lastly, when I leave my dog w OAH I feel fine. I am confident he is in good hands. Read Less

We have been taking our dogs and cats to Oberlin Animal Hospital for the 33 years we have lived in Oberlin. The previous owner was a gentle man and true lover of all animals. He was a farm vet, seemingly gruff in nature but dedicated to helping animals of all sorts. If we spoke to him he gladly responded, chomping on his chewing gum, giving us the answers we needed. When our first dog, ZouGou, developed cancer, he traveled that journey with us, suggesting appropriate treatments to make sure she was well cared for and comfortable. And he was very compassionate when we finally had to put her down. When our cat, Fred, got his tail broken in a door,  the vet/ owner of OAH  kindly cared for Fred, performing surgery and  sending Fred home to us happy and energetic. As the business grew, more staff was added, and everyone we dealt with loved their job and were friendly to us, and helpful when help was needed.  We currently have 4 cats and a small dog. We've taken all of them to OAH and are still very happy with the treatment we receive for our dog and our 2 cats. No surprise, the cats are not vet lovers, but I wouldn't be either if every time I went to a certain place they stuck me with a needle.   :)  But, they keep our dog and cats safe and up to date on shots. They work quickly an efficiently. I recommend them. Read Less

In the year I lived in Oberlin, I took my cats here three times.  My first impression was that the front desk staff were unprofessional. I wasn't acknowledged when I walked in, and they seemed either annoyed or confused every time I talked to them.  I saw three different vets during my three routine visits.  I can't tell you which ones I saw, because they didn't introduce themselves and the copy of my records they gave me don't indicate the names of the vets who performed the exams.  I can say that the first guy I saw was nice, friendly and chatty and seemed to do a good job of working with my cats.  The second guy did not acknowledge me at all, and seemed annoyed when I tried to talk to him.  He walked in and out of the exam room without explanation, and appeared outwardly annoyed to be dealing with a cat.  I had the impression he preferred treating dogs and horses.  The third guy I saw started out friendly, but was very rough and unkind with my scared cat during the physical exam.  My cat scratched him, which he should have expected because I warned him that she was getting upset and because he's supposedly an animal expert.  This caused him to get angry with me, walk out of the exam and refuse to finish.  During my three visits there, I never saw any other cats there.  There were lots of large dogs in the waiting room, and the exam room I was taken into was covered in dog hair.  None of the vets closed either of the two doors to the exam room during the exams, so the sounds of barking dogs was very noticeable to me and my cats during all of my visits.  I DO NOT recommend bringing cats here. Read Less

I liked it better when Cobb was there. The new vets are nice but I feel so rushed in and out. I may be a dog food snob, maybe I'm not but I was completely thrown off when they told me they recommend Purina over Royal Canine dog food. I did research and official think the vet was telling me they endorse Purina for a cut. the office is clean, and seem to know there stuff, but I don't like the way the waiting room is busy, and the office staff ignore you. Read Less

My husband and I have been taking our cat to Dr.Cobb since September, 2010.  Our cat has had a chronic respiratory problem since March, 2010.  Previous to taking him to Dr. Cobb, we took him to 3 different Veterinarians, and none of them were able to control his condition.  A few weeks ago Dr. Cobb came to the rescue again and treated our cat, and he is finally back to normal.  I have found all the employees I have had contact with have been very friendly and helpful.  Dr. Cobb is a very dedicated Veterinarian, and we drive 30 minutes to get to his office.  He is the only Veterinarian for our cat!
