We adopted our dog from Planned Pethood when he was 5 months old. Up until this time, Perrysburg Animal Care and their wonderful staff treated him like he was their own, as he was brought in with Parvo at less than 1 month old. Franklin is now 1 year old and every time we come in the staff is so excited to see him and care for him. I love that this is a smaller office where they know us well and we are not treated like just a number. Read Less

This facility should really be shut down. I believe the doctors do not truly deep down in their hearts care about the well being of the pets brought to them. I took my dog in for a mass in her abdomen. 1. The vet told me they could not feel the mass and I was only feeling her belly button, taking her to another vet the second day they felt it right away. 2. After X-rays and finding a mass on her spleen I was told my BEST option is euthanasia (within a week) for my pet as "she is too old and surgery is too risky" she is a 9 year old golden. I understand the risks with older dogs and surgery but are they not here to help us fight for our animals? Luckily I knew in my heart my girl had more fight in her than to let her go and I took her the next day for a second opinion at a more up to date facility. Again, they felt the mass right away, gave additional ultrasounds showing there were no more masses to be seen. So they said she is a good candidate for the splenectomy surgery. My dog is recovering great, they got the whole mass out and she did not have any complications in surgery even though she is "too old" as perrysburg animal stated. What a joke this place is, these doctors should be ashamed of themselves. I am heartbroken thinking of the countless pets that have probably been put to sleep there with their owners thinking that was their best option. ALWAYS get a second opinion. Also, unrelated situation but I have been belittled by Doctor North in past experiences. Hearing him talk about me and my pet behind the door just like another yelper posted. He went to vet school in 1972. I would suggest going somewhere that has more recent experience. Older doesn't always mean more knowledgable. It means you are stuck in that era. If I had listened to them, my dog would've had a rupture and died maybe today. But another vet facility in this area had compassion and worked with me to do what it took to save my dogs life. And she is recovering very well. It's a shame that veterinarian facilities have more power to run things how they want. If there were more regulation it would be easier to report things like this. Dr. West though was great in letting me confide in her when I was upset about Dr. North's belittling. The vet techs and receptionists were sweet and sympathetic. Dr. Nadine Sookhoo was the vet who suggested euthanasia as a first option. She seemed burdened and unsympathetic. Read Less

I wish I could give zero stars. This is hands down one of the worst clinics in all of Northwest Ohio. I was told to just euthanize my perfectly healthy kitten just because she has a non-life threatening immune disease. Strike 1. Dr North told another client their beautiful kitten would "make a better coat then a pet" after he failed to diagnosis and treat the poor cats chronic diarrhea. Strike 2. Another doctor prescribed prednisone to a dog with renal failure, congestive heart failure, arthritis, and horrible rotting teeth with infection and pus pouring out of its mouth instead of diagnosing the separate problems and treating them accordingly. This same dog was never recommended a heartworm test or prevention it's whole life! When asked about tick diseases in our area. The client was told there was nothing to worry about in our area even though the ticks have been out of control the last few years and Lyme Disease, Babesiosis, Anaplasmosis, Tularemia, and Ehrlchosis positive dogs have been treated here! The standard of care at this clinic is appalling. I cannot believe most of these doctors are still practicing medicine. They are a black stain on the profession. Read Less
