We have been taking our cats to Dr. Shaw for 25 years - there is nobody better! Anybody who knows him and have entrusted their animal to him knows how much he cares about animals. For those who complain about the cost - you get what you pay for. Dr. Shaw and his staff are the best, bar none! I live an hour away now, and whenever there is a medical problem that is more than minor we go to nobody but Dr. Shaw. You can call him anytime, and he gets back to you. I cannot say enough good things about this team! We sought them out to assist us in saying good bye to our much loved Heath. They were very compassionate, respected our privacy, and explained everything that would happen. They provided 3 options on what to do with his remains, and we opted to have him cremated. When I took Cowboy, a green cheek conure in to my home, I knew nothing about birds. I was basically learning as we went. I took him to Dr. Shaw when he started plucking his feathers and we found out he had a bacterial infection in his feathers and started him on meds. Dr. Shaw was very thorough and easy to talk to. The end of August 2015 I came home around 6:00 to my dog not acting right. When she would try to bite down on food/treats she would just scream. Being newish to the area (I moved from Medina and hadn't found a closer vet yet) I Googled vets around my area and called Broadview Animal Hospital because they were still open. I explained the situation and they had me come in at 7:00pm that night to see Dr. Perry. Turns out my poor Chloe was having some teeth issues going on.  Literally when you would push on her teeth they would move. She explained my options in detail and of course I was going to do whatever was necessary. She told me someone would call me in the next two days with an estimate to have her teeth pulled and to schedule her surgery if I decided to go that route. Two days later my Chloe was feeling much better. During her surgery they kept me very informed and updated, even sending a picture of her once she was done and awake.A week later I took her in for her checkup and to get her vaccines up to date. Unfortunately, she had a bad allergic reaction later that night. Dr. Perry was very helpful when I called her and was available when needed. I ended up taking her to a nearby emergency clinic very late that night. Dr. Perry's office called the next day to see how she was doing since the emergency clinic sent them over reports on her visit. The staff there is very friendly and informative. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the cost of the surgery. The office gives you an estimate. They kept insisting (a few times) it would be on the lower end. Once I took my dog in there the day of her surgery, got xrays done and had a deeper look at it, it ended up of course being the maximum amount which was pretty irritating, however; I was going to do whatever I needed to do to make my dog better as at the time money was not important. She is much happier now and eats peacefully.That being said, I will continue to go to that office as Dr. Perry is pretty amazing, compassionate and knowledgeable. Read Less

The doctors and staff at Broadview Animal an Bird Hospital are top-notch! They care for around 30 rescue animals I bring them per year and are incredibly knowledgeable about the many ailments and injuries these dogs have. The clinic is run very professionally and the health and well-being of the animals is their top priority. I would recommend them to anyone! Perhaps the best veterinary hospital we have been to in four states. The doctors and techs are wonderful. They take ample time to sufficiently diagnose and provide adequate and successful treatments. Our poor dog suffered a major problem and they quickly got her on the surgical schedule. DO NOT GO HERE. Go to the Premier Spay/Neuter & Wellness Clinic on 7876 Broadview Rd. It is right up the street! Its significantly cheap and they actually care about your animals. This hospital is AWFUL, they treated my dog like she meant nothing and proceeded to demand more and more money from us. Read Less

Good avian vet. Dr. Shaw is experienced with treating birds. Dr. Shaw also handles other pets. **There are few qualified avian vets in the northern Ohio area, even if a practice says they treat birds and parrots** Everyone needs to be aware of this fact. I like Dr. Shaw. Read Less

I took my cockatiel to this office previous times and the most recent visit was with their new avian vet.  She didn't know how to handle my cockatiel actually let him fly into the wall and then he started having seizures.  They sent him home while he was having seizures in car and at home and said he would get better.  A week later he started to finally eat and has not been the same since the visit. I took my puppy to this vet based on the recommendation of a Yelper.  I could not have been more pleased!  When I originally set the appointment it was for a basic checkup and shots.  By the time it rolled aorund, he had a possible on his neck and a problem with his paws. The staff was extremely friendly and warm.  Normally he is a barking mess but they made him feel comfortable and safe.  He even laid down on the floor in the waiting room.  I was amazed.  They talked me thru what he needed and assured me that all would be well. Loving, happy, high-quality pet care!THE UP-SIDE:  The most loving, efficient and wonderful veterinarian's office I have ever been to.  I've been an animal lover my entire life and have been to endless vet visits.  However, until I found the Broadview Animal and Bird Hospital, I had no idea just how nice of an experience it can be.  There are three doctors at this facility; each as compassionate and full of information as the next.  My doctor, Dr. Mills, goes out of her way to answer every question a worried pet owner may have.  She's warm, full of love for each animal, and really makes a genuine effort to do what's best for them.  She's even come in on her off day to take a look at my little cat.  It meant the world to me.In addition, the staff here goes out of their way to stay up to date on your pet's health.  If they are not doing so well, the staff will call you each morning just to check in and get an update.  At first, it really took me aback.  Now, it means so much to me.  They actually care, and it shows.THE DOWN-SIDE:  Absolutely no down-side to this facility.  THE SUM-IT-UP:  If you love your pet and you live anywhere in the Cleveland area, I'd urge you to take them here for any health-related issues.  The staff here will make you and your pet feel loved, well cared for, and as happy as is possible in times that can be difficult.  It's nice to find a place where the people give so much love to animals.
