I can't say I trust this vet. Sure, if you don't have any other options but to take your pet here, do so. But, be forewarned...I feel as if my anxiety over my dog in pain/my ignorance of dog-arthritis was taken advantage of. My dog was howling in pain last Friday night. I could tell it was something to do with his left hind leg. Saturday morning, he was still in severe pain. So, after finding a kind family member who would loan me the money, I called this vet. I told the woman on the phone that I thought it could be something as simple as the horribly matted fur on his hind legs/rear end. Yes, I know it's awful to let the fur get that bad - but, I just got out of almost a year of unemployment where I had to live off of $200 in food stamps, selling my belongings on craigslist, and was almost evicted with no where to go. So, not only could I not get my poor dog groomed, I fell into a depression and didn't take care of his coat. I know that's wrong, but I don't have any way to go back in time and change that.I digress...back to the review: so, I take my dog over to the Animal Emergency & Critical Care Center. I walk in the door and tell the woman sitting at the sign-in desk about how I suspect it could be as simple as the matted fur on his butt causing him so much pain. I was put into an examination room - the first person to come into that room, an assistant, maybe? - I tell her about the matted fur suspicion. Then, when the doctor came in the room, I told her about the matted fur, too. She didn't really examine the matted area - she did touch his hind leg & he howled. So, she said she wanted to do x-rays, blood work, and give him some medication. $483 later - she shows me the x-rays and even remarks that, while he does have arthritis in his hind leg, she's surprised that it's pretty mild for the amount of pain he has. At this point, I didn't mention the matting again because I still trusted the opinion of a doctor. I bought pain medication for him to go & on the way out, I did find it odd that he was already back to not wanting to get up due to the pain. But, I thought maybe the shot was already wearing off.Well, it's 5 days later and he's still in severe pain. And, having watched him all weekend - I'm convinced that it is the matted fur causing his pain. Here's the kicker, though: they bilked me out of so much money that I won't be able to get him groomed for about 6 weeks, at least. I don't even have the money to buy my own clippers - not that I could do that due to how much pain he is in - he needs to be sedated and/or muzzled.I did email them to express my disappointment and frustration over having paid so much money to have my dog no better - and I haven't heard a word. Not even a brief acknowledgment that they received my email. So, while the doctor was nice and I hate to think it was a planned bilking - I still wouldn't trust taking a pet here, not after my experience and my poor dog still being in severe pain after almost $500 was spent on having him "treated". Not to mention, how sad that I knew what was wrong, but for whatever reason, they ignored me and my pet continues to hurt. Read Less
