Spend thousands of dollars for preventative care over the years and they weren't there when their patient (our fur baby) really needed them.  She almost died but was too busy to see her so we called a different vet who squeezed her in. TPC said that she should be seen right away but were too busy to see her.  They didn't make her sick but they did not help either. My baby and money is going elsewhere,  very upset. One star is too many for this place. We should have been able to count on them but complete strangers took in our sick baby and made her on her way to getting better (I hope)  Done venting. I very much like Dr. Brent. As a vet he was thorough, gentle and kind to my dogs. He also explains so I understand. I appreciate their toenail clipping service as well. This is the first time that I've ever gone to a vet and had a terrible experience. My poor dog is almost traumatized by the experience. First off he went there to have 3 vaccinations done and a skin check because he's been itching a lot. The first vaccination was just a liquid in his mouth so that went fine but the 2 other vaccinations were shots. My dog was suppose to have 2 shots done and instead he got poked 4 times! When the vet first walked in my dog was a little timid, but so was the vet and it was obvious. When she went to check his skin because he was itching she never felt his skin she just looked and determined the diagnosis from there. I thought he could possibly have fleas and I told her that. She never took a comb through his hair to see if I was right about the fleas she never checked him over physically. Just looked at him while the vet tech held him up on his back legs. She never held him herself, mind you my dog is a 14 pound Jack Russel/ chihuahua mix. When they gave him his first shot the vet tech was not holding him properly (tight to her body, covering his face with her hand so he didn't jump back and bite the vet) and he freaked out and jumped back which made the vet freak out and jump while she had the needle in my dogs shoulder still. After 2 unsuccessful attempts in his shoulder she finally got them in his hips. After that they took him to the back to clip his nails. Now obviously he wasn't acting the best because he was scared and in pain at the time. But they came back into the room and said they could not cut his toenails because he was peeing and pooping too much. I don't know about the rest of you but I have never heard of any vet not being to cut a animals nails because they peed and pooped. It's an animal, he's going to do both of those if he feels scared. Which he did. The only generous/ good thing they did was not charge me for the nail clipping. Now I'm really upset because once we took him home he was very scared of us and skiddish which is not how my dog is what so ever. All he ever wants is to be all over you giving kisses. The dog I came home with was not the same dog that I went into that vet with. He's starting to get a little better but he's still hiding from us and backing away when we try to hold him or pet him. Im very upset with the service that they provided and I'm VERY upset with the way they treated my dog. I will never return here and I do not recommend taking your animal there. Terrible, I took my dog there when they first opened up and when I went to pick her up I heard an awful noise.  It was my dog trying to breath.  The vet came out and looked down at her and said it's a little dog thing. They gave zero fucks.  Ten minutes later and she would have died. Read Less

LOST MY PATRONAGE! (Former customer of approximately EIGHT years) They are REQUIRING the canine influenza shot unless they are convinced by a veterinarian that the shot should not be administered. My two dogs -- who are in their twilight years and suffer from digestive ailments -- are NOT to receive the shot for a variety of solid, medical reasons explained to me by two well-respected veterinarians. I will not beg and plead my cases with TPC after being told by one employee that the shots are MANDATORY... and later by a manager that my cases will be considered by their medical staff. No! I am gladly headed elsewhere. Additionally, I never really cared for their high-volume environment and sluggish turnaround times. The price is good if you are patient, but the "MANDATORY" canine influenza shot may actually be required -- while other groomers have not created such policies. Read Less

Worst ever!! Brought in my sick pet and had her get even sicker with 3 days of their treatment, when I called and asked for another antibiotic they said that I had to pay for an emergency visit in order to get the antibiotic. I left a message for the general manager and never received a return phone call. They have no concern for peoples pets all they care about is making money. Read Less

I have boarded my bulldog here before for a day with no problems. Recently I boarded him for five days. Upon my return I find he has a UTI, redness in one eye and signs of a possible cold. The vet was nowhere to be found so I immediately took him to my vet. They said not only did he have a cold, but he had the worst case of conjunctivitis they have ever seen. Total pet care's vet called me back 3 hours after leaving, to tell me they thought it was simply redness due to excitement! If you value the wellbeing of your pet, I would not recommend leaving them in this facility. Read Less

Could not get a grooming appointment at all.  Pets MUST have at least three of their vaccinations up to date before you could make a grooming appt.  Due to my hectic schedule with a baby, I was hoping to get a day off from the pups and clean my house while they are getting cleaned up at this groomer.  Guess that's not gonna happen. Had the pup stay here during a family stay in Ohio. Making the appointment was simple, I was able to book our reservation online. They followed up with a confirmation email to let me know our reservation was booked along with instructions as to what would be needed on the day of drop off. Other than a copy of current  immunizations there is some light paperwork to fill out. If your pet is in need of any immunizations for their stay they are willing to administer them for you. The staff here is super friendly. But then again, I love anyone who is not intimidated by my bully breed. They were very good with him. I can't see myself going anywhere else when visiting Toledo. I was very surprised as to how reasonable their boarding prices were, your pets stay will not break the bank! Read Less

I don't think you can find a more comprehensive and customer oriented pet care facility in NW Ohio. TPC has provided care for both my cat "Jackson" and dog "Zephyr". When they're in that clinic, they are treated like Royalty.The facility and medical care is state of the art. When traveling, I've told my friends that Zephyr is at The Ritz Carleton for Dogs. Every single time when I pick him up he's smiling, bathed, and lead to me by a staff person that loves animals.I went first to Total Pet Care because I've done lots of business with it's owners Dan and Connie Shook I go back because they've delivered beyond my expectations. When my yorkie was sick a few weeks ago I called and Total Pet Care was told to bring him right in. The staff took exceptional care of not only him but me as well. Because he is so little and what was wrong with him he had to stay 2 nights. Total pet care is a wonderful family run business. Our family had an incident in which our dog was severely injured, the owner personally came out to our home and helped save our animal. The vets were all very attentive and personable. I cannot say enough about the staff. Our dog had to stay for several weeks and the staff went out of their way to accomodate her.
