It makes me to sad to give Dr Thorpe such a low rating. My family and I lived in Troy for 12 years or so before we eventually moved and from the start we had always taken our pets there and the various foundling animals that we helped out. They were the only ones patient enough to deal with my dog who wasn't properly socialized and was afraid of people outside of his comfort zone. Unfortunately he had epilepsy and we had to take him to the vet often for blood tests to get his medicine dosage adjusted as needed. The last time we did this, we weren't able to pay right away so they allowed us to put it off and unfortunately I lost my job and my mom had been working part time so we didn't have the money to pay yet. Even more unfortunately, my dog who they had seen since he was a puppy - 10 years! - passed away and we were hoping to take him somewhere familiar to get him cremated. His death was a surprise and we didn't have much money but we scraped together enough to get him cremated and as we were told, his ashes spread at a nearby nature preserve. I had called them to make sure it was okay right before we were to leave (this would have been an hour's long journey to take him down there but we felt he was worth it) and they tell me when I called back that they were refusing to cremate him because of the outstanding bill. I told them that we could just pay for his cremation now and we'd pay the bill this weekend but Dr. Thorpe refused. On top of the heartbreak of having our dog die unexpectedly, we were refused to have his body taken care of by people we trusted and had dealt with his entire life. Over a $60+ bill. It felt like a betrayal. He was the only reason we still had business with Dr. Thorpe. Now that we're out of the area, we won't be dealing with her again. And if we had still been in the area, we would be finding another vet regardless. Twelve-thirteen years of visits for our dogs and cats and we were treated appallingly when I felt we needed them most. Read Less

I adopted a cat from the shelter and she had a hemorrhoid. The vet told us to get rid of her. Took her to another vet and was told to put preparation h on it and within a month it was gone. This vet does not know what she's doing. Read Less

We have been patients for 5 years. Generally, we go once a year for a check up. However this year we have taken our dog b/c of injuries. Dr. Throrpe didn't do physically exams on our pet the last two visits b/c our dog was scared and wouldn't sit on the exam table. I feel she overlooked my concerns and we will be looking for a new vet. Read Less

I so agree with the last review. Dr. Thorpe is in the business because she love animals and taking care of them is what is more Important to her than the money. She keeps prices fair so people can afford to care for their pets. Read Less

This is a Great Animal Clinic! Dr. Thorpe is an exceptional veterinarian and cares deeply for the animals! The staff is excellent and very polite! Prices are fair and Dr. Thorpe doesn't seem to be in it for the money! Read Less
