Love this vet office! Every time i have called with an emergency they fit me in. They give through exams, and have a friendly helpful staff. They accommodate me by making sure my dog aggressive dog gets no interaction with another dog, so I don't have to worry about the stress of taking her. They are a little more expensive than what I really can afford but I find the value for what I'm paying for because they have been so good to us. I'd rather pay a little more and have someone truly care for my pets, then pay less and have my dog be called a different breed that shes not and not get the up most care as I had at a previous vet. Thank you lakota hills animal clinic! You guys have been so so great to my pets and I! Read Less

I've been going here for two years now for my cat and dog. They're a bit pricey (for me anyways), but I think it's worth every penny. They know all my pets by name, do checkup calls the next day if needed, and are very gentle with both of my pets--I trust them completely. Would recommend them to anyone in the area. Edit: It makes me sad that I'm editing this, but I don't think I'll be returning here. I trusted them with the care of my 1 year old dog, and they tried pushing products on me, saying that these products were only available through vets which isn't true--the two products are found at pet stores and online. If they were just honest and said, "Here are the products we recommend. You can get X here and Y at this store, but we offer it for a similar price and we can save you a trip to the store," I definitely would've just bought the products there with no questions asked. Instead, they seemed annoyed that I was going to buy the food and nutritional supplement on my own and kept saying that only vets carry the products while I had both products up on my screen. (By the way, clients can hear everything being said in the back rooms and hallway). I passed on one product because it was $16 dollars cheaper at the store, and bought the food because it was the same price as the store. While I don't have a problem spending money on my pets, it was really dishonest that they acted this way, and their attitude towards my decision wasn't very professional. I understand they need to sell products to make a profit, but I personally would've appreciated a more honest approach, especially since I was already fond of them to begin with and wouldn't have a problem supporting the clinic. If they couldn't be honest about two small products, how can I easily trust them in the future without questioning if every procedure they do is absolutely necessary. I'm really disappointed that I'll be in search of a new clinic in the area. Read Less

Been taking my dog here for 3 years since I adopted him, and it's fine for yearly checkups. However, I'm a college student and felt completely taken advantage of this afternoon when an emergency came up and I needed to get my dog in. I asked for his yearly checkup plus an exam to figure out why he was chewing on himself. Turns out it was fleas, as I learned from the aides complaining loudly behind a closed door how "people never check their dogs before coming in." Regardless, I asked how much medication was and was told it was $7 per pill, two pills needed to rid him of his infestation. A usual yearly checkup with boosters is about $120, but I left with a $245 bill full of medication I was pressured into buying and other tests I didn't ask for. Highly unprofessional considering my current financial situation. I'll be searching for another vet, and be sure to ask what you're getting before agreeing to have anything administered to your pet. I visited Dr Hogstreth with a healthy rabbit who had a large absess and the decision was made to amputate. Bunnies normally do well as tripods (three-legged!) but our bunny not only nearly died from errors made during the procedure and after-care but we were treated with anger, instead of sympathy, that our pet had become so sick, that we should consider her quality of life (great before the op when she was hopping about with a bandage on!) as though we were the bad guys -- bad guys who paid close to have $1,000 for our pet to be made worse?! Yes, Lakota Hills Animal Clinic is very expensive and charges more than some other practices for meds and services. ($500 for the surgery -- about $100 per week in 2 -3 follow-up visits per week!) I don't think we were the bad guys for seeking care (or what we hoped would be care!) for our pet. I think the anger came from defensiveness -- like a service provider getting angry at a customer for complaining. Here's the catalog of errors: 1. Incision was not closed properly, there were two holes that leaked pus. 2. First antibiotic was too weak, so rabbit developed infection and fever 3. We were told to clean the incision with alcohol (or peroxide) on the print-out sheet. I used alcohol for the first week (pharmacy brand) and was then told that was wrong and prescribed an expensive veterinary wash. 4. After four weeks I was wrongly told incision had healed (even though lumpy scar tissue developed and one of the holes was leaking even more cottage-cheese like material than before) and because of declining body weight etc we should think again about end-of-life i.e. our pre-op healthy rabbit was, thanks to surgery at this clinic, a no hoper! We now to have to pay for another veterinarian's advice and Lakota Hills won't be getting any more fees from us! Read Less

The vet that my family dogs have been visiting for the past 15 years.  Lakota Hills is a friendly establishment that is empathetic to both the needs of owners and pets.  They have a brand new establishment in their old location on Tylersville road with new technology and luxuries for animal owners and pets alike.  My family has had a number of great experiences at Lakota Hills Animal Clinic, mainly because it is less "clinical" than most animal hospitals.  We have had a number of dogs over the years and Lakota Hills has always taken good care of them.  Just last week we had to make the difficult decision to put our beloved Golden Retriever to sleep and the staff at the clinic could not have been more empathetic, understanding, and helpful.  Abbey (our Golden) had been ill for a few months and during that time we took advantage of the clinic's ability to follow-up, even after hours, on the condition of our pet.  If you choose to take your pets to Lakota Hills, ask for Dr. Jennifer Dehnbostel, she has helped my family enormously with our pets and treats them all like her own babies! Not the cheapest veterinary establishment, but if you want quality care for your pet and your own emotions (we received sympathy cards signed by the staff after our dog's passing), choose Lakota Hills! I don't think we were the bad guys for seeking care (or what we hoped would be care!) for our pet.
