Several months ago, our dog hurt her foot and our nanny had to take her to a vet nearby (our regular vet being an hour away). Cryan was the closest with great reviews, so we gave it a shot. They were super helpful and got her in right away. They are great with both our little terrier and big Doberman. The staff always greets us and our dog with a happy voice and lots of attention. All procedures are explained and even some options for the budget-minded were given when our dog had to have surgery, which was much appreciated. The reminder appointment calls and prompt call-backs with answers and updates are helpful. I also have to give a shout out to them for going the extra mile. I have two young children and taking them to the vet is an adventure. The staff was more than willing to bring our dog out to the car where I was waiting when she was done so I didn't have to schlep both kids into a waiting room--this mom thanks you! Based on Doctor Cryan's degrees on the wall, this practice has been around since the 70s and the decor reflects that, but the staff, equipment, and procedures are top-notch and the decor adds a perky charm. I also very much appreciate the procedures they have in place for when someone is putting their pet to sleep--I've never seen that at a vet before and having that little candle lit on the front desk helps to show they care about pets during their whole cycle of life. This wonderful veterinary practice has been a part of the Westerville community for as long as I can remember, and I'm old! You'll always see smiles and happy people who truly love animals. From the front office staff, the vet techs and especially the docs, the moment you walk in everyone is friendly, helpful and caring. My Chihuahua, José JoaquÃn, sees Dr Hoffman and we love her! She takes her time and listens to all concerns and makes sure I am informed and fully understand all treatment options. Two years ago, when we were unexpectedly faced with a necessary surgery to remove a mast cell tumor, Dr. Hoffman tailored my little buddy's treatment plan as to be as affordable as possible without compromising his care. One of the vet techs even called me four times to calm my fears and update me with every step. Once before anesthesia, when surgery began and again when he was safely awake and in recovery. The fourth call was sweetest of all. Time to pick him up! They are able to keep their costs reasonable because they have remained a small practice for over 40 years, still operating from the same building on West St where they have been since I was a kid. This is where we take our fur family members. We're partial to one vet, Deanna Balaz, and have been for the 20+ years we've lived in Westerville. She has a kindness and sensitivity that we require for our family members. We've seen other vets at Cryan and have been non-plussed to absolutely would not see again. The staff is great, the vet assistants are also great, and I'm sure there are other vets that families would click with. This is a nice facility with extended hours, including partial Saturday hours. The place is clean and never smells bad... which is a must have for our family members. All in all, we'd recommend. Read Less

Dr Deanna Balaz-Townsend is the absolute BEST veterinarian we've ever had in 30 years of raising furry family members.  We've raised our own dogs as well as Service Dogs andDr Deanna has been our vet since moving to the Columbus area in 1996. Dr Deanna has always shown SO much kindness, care, and love toward all of our family.  She listens and is always very understanding and respectful of our opinions. She has the utmost respect of each individual dog's personality and knows the best way to approach them. Our dogs have always responded really well to her and have always been happy to see her. I'm sure they sense her kindness. She is just the best veterinarian in this area and we have no desire to take our loving companions to anyone else. I,too received a notification that my vet was closing her practice abruptly. I had driven past Cryan several times, as I live in Westerville. I stopped in for a look-see. The staff was very friendly . I made an appointment for my German Shepherd and my Weimaraner. Both dogs were expertly treated by the vet and she took time to address concerns that I had for both furkids. I noticed one previous comment on "upselling". I work in a dental office and we always let our patients know what is available to them. Whether it's a new product or procedure that can enhance their dental health, improve their appearance or even help them sleep better, it's in the patient's best interest to give the information . I know the same to be true with veterinary medicine - there's always new medications for flea control, arthritis and new procedures to help keep our pets healthy and comfortable.I was given the information and I never felt I was being pressured into anything at Cryan. Well it is been three and a half days after my puppy was opened up in a major way to find an obstruction, only to find there was none there. Now, three and half days later she is so sick, in so much pain, and I have been promised a vet would call numerous times. I have heard from NO vet. Vet Techs are awesome at Cryan and the Doctor herself was very thorough. The Clinic is clean and organized. The only downside for me was the OM. The bill was not what was quoted and she was a bit aggressive when challenged about it. Overall great experience!! Read Less

VERY pleased with my experience at Cryan Veterinary Hospital. They got me in the same day that I called. They even bumped up my appt time when someone else canceled. From the phone calls, Shannon & Kim, to the nurse (Courtney), to the Vet/Partner (Dr. Balazs), we (my cat & I ) were treated with EXCELLENT care. Dr. Balazs & Courtney calmed my skittish cat down. They spent enough time with us to make me feel like they genuinely cared about my cat's care. They answered ALL of my questions & did not talk down to me in any way, like I have experienced at other places. I would definitely come back here again & would recommend to friends and family. My Veterinarian that I had for four years with little warning sent out an email that they would be closing on 31 Dec 2015. I was informed on 23 Dec. They have all ready sent away their prescription dog food. a close friend recommended them to me. The staff was all very nice to my dog. The staff started right away working on getting her records from the old veterinary for me and I was able to get a bag of her dry dog food. Been taking my animals here since Dr. Balaze was a newbie to the field. Started with kitties, then got up the courage and got over my fear of dogs...and got two. Wouldn't trade them for anything, don't know where my family would be if Cryan Veterinary Hospital wasn't there. I've been taking my pets to Cryan for years, and they are just wonderful. Everyone there is always so kind and eternally patient with my two dachshunds, who are ... well, kind of a nightmare for patients. I just recently took my puppy there to be neutered, and the poor li'l guy was just terrified, but the lovely ladies at the office were so sweet to him and made both him and me so comfortable. This place is absolutely wonderful. The whole staff are so kind and caring. It really does feel like they really know you and your pets. You're not just another face or another animal when you walk in or even call. Dr. Balazs even personally emailed me a few weeks after seeing us to check on us and to give us extra information and suggestions for things to add to our dog's diet as well as OTC shampoos to try because our dog had been having a pretty bad allergy flare. She had already been doing great with the treatment she already had prescribed her. Such a wonderful extra touch!! Their prices are so reasonable and the care you receive is above and beyond all higher priced places. You never feel like you're being price gouged or having services pushed that you don't need!!! I've been taking all my pets to Cryan Veterinary Hospital for nearly 20 years. I have always received the very best care for them. The staff has always been wonderful. The faces have changed over the years and Dr. Cryan has since retired, but the level of care has never seemed to change. They do a great job of working in appointments when I need them and always make time for illness or emergencies.
