My dog had a catheter in and was coming for a second opinion and we were turned AWAY! If I could give zero stars I would. AJ is the office manager and she is kind, professional and good- but that is where I stop. This facility was my dog’s vet office for the last 4 years of this life. A few weeks ago, he began having seizures and we were told he likely had a brain tumor. He was seen by another vet office for this diagnosis as it was an emergency we were out of town at the time. He was under strict 24 hour care and was released to us so we could travel home and take him to his own vet. I had all the medical records transferred and called and spoke to AJ to schedule the appointment for a second opinion and the removal of this catheter. I made a mistake on the appointment time and arrived 30 minutes late. My husband carried our boy into the office and we waited only to be SENT AWAY! Our dog is a boxer, they are not small dogs and when the little girl receptionist saw him with a catheter in his leg, looking drugged and being carried, she didn’t think to act with any level of concern. The vet was even worse. She was unwilling to make any room in her schedule and didn’t even come out to explain the problem. It was just a simple- can you come back tomorrow. I was dumbfounded at the lack of care, compassion and basic intellect that was being shown to us. I demanded our records and went to an emergency clinic immediately. It was the best thing for him because he received better care there in his last few weeks then this vet could have ever faked. AJ was the only one from the office brave enough to call and offer an apology for our treatment. The vets excuse was she was not told the critical status when she denied us a slot. My problem with that is she was supposed to be our second opinion with records sent at least a day before for review. A second opinion requires effort on a doctor’s part and she clearly had done NONE of her job. Our boy has passed and I find it hard to breathe without him but I wanted to share my story to make sure no one else goes through the type of callous treatment we received at his most vulnerable. That receptionist and vet should be ashamed of themselves for not showing compassion or using an ounce of intellect. I do NOT recommend this office. Read Less

My family and I met Dr. Malak for the first time today. We really appreciated his knowledge and demeanor! He was caring with our older dog and explained the possible diagnoses and treatments with thoroughness and clarity. We also were able to get his nails trimmed on the fly! How convenient! All of the staff put Monty and the rest of our family at ease and made it a pleasant experience. In the past I've also brought my pet mice to see Dr. Skebe. My mouse Swiss had a respiratory infection and was compulsively clawing his ears until the tissue became necrotic. She was very understanding and gave my mouse the same level of compassion as she would a dog or cat. She even went above and beyond to research professional journals concerning his compulsive behaviors. I was very grateful for her efforts! Read Less

thought my 11-1/2 year "young" Yellow Lab, Gracie, was possibly having a stroke yesterday (1/14/17) morning. I called the office and they asked how quickly I could bring her in. As soon as we walked in the door, we were escorted to a room where we met for the first time, Dr. Marianne Skebe. Dr. Skebe assessed Gracie and suggested X-rays. Fortunately, Gracie did not have a stoke and as promised, Dr. Skebe called back around 1:30pm to confirm the X-ray results. The blood work will be back on Monday and we will go from there. Dr. Snavely did both of Gracie's ACL repairs several years ago and Dr. Feeney has been one of Gracie's favorites as well!!! Read Less

Let me first say that I this review is for this appointment only.  We have been taking our dog there for about 4 years and have been happy, although we have always felt the prices were high. I had her there less than three months ago for a full exam and all of her mandatory vaccines.  I took my dog in today for a kennel cough vaccine.  I wasn't sure if i was going to be charged for the office visit or not, but I was hopeful that they would be reasonable since I was there only a couple of months ago.  I even asked the receptionist when I called to make the appointment.  She said she wasn't sure. We were greeted promptly and was taken to the exam room within a few minutes.  An assistant came in in a few minutes to take the dog back to weigh her.  Literally 10 seconds after the tech left the room, the Dr. came in.  I told her they had just left and she said she would check her out and give her the shot.  She was not gone for three minutes when she came back with the dog and said she was done. When I went out to pay, I was shocked that I was charged for an exam.  I questioned it and the office lady went to ask the Dr..  When she returned she said that was the price.  I paid it then asked to talk to the Dr.  I waited for about 15 minutes before she came in.  I questioned her about the charge and she insisted that she gave the dog a thorough examination (in the back room instead of in front of me).  I asked how that was possible in three minutes,  She said that the tech was holding her so she was able to do it.  My dog was so nervous that the tech had to trick her and take her out the front door.  There is no way they could have calmed her down and done the exam in three minutes.  She never denied that she was only gone a few minutes, but insisted that an exam was done.  In four years, no vet has ever examined her that quickly.  I am convinced that nothing except the shot was done. I asked for my medical records and I will be looking for another Vet. Read Less

We had a poor experience here. When we went to get our puppy spayed, they gave her back to us without a cone. Once we got home, she immediately began chewing on her stitches and would not stop. We had to rush back to get her a cone. Although we paid for the surgery in full when we picked up our dog, we later received a bill charging us for a cone that should have been included in the price of the surgery. After calling to discuss the charge, we were not satisfied with Dover Animal Hospital's response. Apparently, a $5.40 charge is more important to them than a customer. Read Less

My family and I have been bringing our furry friends here for years.  The ladies that work the front desk, as well as the veternary assistants are very friendly and make you and your pets feel welcome. The front lobby and the exam rooms have these cool dog and cat murals painted on the walls, which are pretty neat to look at.  One of them shows a cat laying on a massage table with another cat kneading his/her back. Very awesome! (Check out the pics.) The facility is extremely clean, without any foul animal odors, which is always a plus!Dr. Skebee and Dr. Feeney are great and they never keep you waiting for long after your scheduled appointment time.  They're very thorough and always make sure you don't have any questions before the exam is over.  They don't make you feel rushed to get in and out.  Fees are very reasonable and I believe they offer discounts to seniors. I've been using this vet service for quite some time.  I believe they are very competent and compassionate.  I recently took my very sick cat there for a diagnosis and learned he had something serious going on with his liver.  He was so ill that they suggested I leave him there in their hospital for the night, which I did.  The next day they suggested I take him to the Akron Veterinary Referral Emergency Service in Copely, OH, as they would be able to do surgery if he would need it. I appreciate the care and time given to me by Dr. Feeney to help my beloved pet and to help me understand his serious situation and condition.  While the costs for my pet's care was quite high, I don't believe it was overpriced due to the various tests, xrays, ultrasounds, IV liquids and IV medications and telephone calls back and forth to me and to the Akron hospital to advise them we would be traveling down there.  I take comfort in knowing that Dr. Feeney did all she could do to help my cat.  Each procedure she suggested was fully explained to me to my satisfaction.  Detroit Dover Animal Hospital is an excellent service provider for those who love their animals and treat them as family.  Thank you, everyone, at Detroit Dover Animal Hospital. Took our newest feline friend, Cringer feline to be vetted here a while back.It is not cheap, but the staff is super friendly. The doctor (was a female, cannot remember her name) was fabulous! She answered all of my twenty million questions and calmed me down and told me it was highly unlikely that Cringe had FLV or FIV. That test took 24 hours and he was in fact negative - thank god!We got him his shots and he was snipped (poor guy) - all said it ran us about $420. We returned about a month later for his boosters and that was a cool 79 bucks. Holy hell having felines is expensive, but those fur babies are worth it.Cringer (aka Battle Cat) was previously a stray and was easy to feed but hard to wrangle - once we got him in that cage, it was off to the vet we had to go. The vet was very easy to work with and kept Cringe overnight (they had to wait for the FLV/FIV test). Even if Cringe had been FIV/FLV positive, the snipping surgery was still available - they just would have had to be a little more careful because risk of infection skyrockets. After surgery they hung onto our feline friend for the majority of the day (gave him some good pain meds) and we picked him up before close. Cringer feline now lives happily with his sister feline - Loki. Will definitely be back again to make sure our kit cats healthy. Also, Detroit Dover is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) which means their hospital is measured against the most rigorous published standards in the industry; which equals great care for your pets!
