The vet I had (Dr.Carlson I believe) was so amazing and compassionate, her and her staff made sure I understood everything and was very very friendly. I was co-parenting my cat when she started having breathing issues. We took her in hoping that maybe she gotten sick or that it was something that could be fixed with medication. After the X-ray we discovered she had fluid in all the places it should not be. The doctor and team are skilled and passionate. My doctor, I unfortunately didn’t catch her name, was so caring and determined. Like family. I was very low on cash, and the X-ray was expensive. But you are not only paying for the X-ray, in my opinion you are paying for the skilled technician who helps keep your pet calm during the X-ray and knows when to stop, if your animal is getting upset during the X-ray. The doctor advised me that my cat needed surgery, and that because the X-ray of my cat was very bad (you couldn’t find her lungs or heart because of the fluid), she couldn’t perform the surgery but gave me information of someone she trusted and had the tools. The surgery cost was in the thousands.. I couldn’t let her suffer until I had the money. The only option I had, was to put her down. They have a special room, that’s calm for you and your pet, that’s way from the noise of other pets. A special place where you can say goodbye. The doctor made sure that she wouldn’t feel it, she gave her pain and relaxation medication and talked me through everything. And when she was gone, they wrapped her in a soft blanket. And when I was ready, took her out the room. They have a credit based payment plan, so I was able to even afford her getting cremated, they also keep the ashes until you are ready to pick them up. The ashes come with a lock of hair and their paw print. They are a skilled, professional, passionate, knowledgeable, team. Highly recommended. Read Less

When I realized it was time to put my dog to sleep, a friend recommended Animal Hospital. I called & told them what I needed. They got us in that afternoon. They were so compassionate & caring. They take care of everything in house, which gave me peace. Her ashes were ready in about a week. They gave her to me in a beautiful velvet bag. I also got a pawprint & a lock of her hair. I took my bird there for three tests. One test required a blood draw, the other two were fecal tests. They charged me for an exam that she did not need. They stated it was required, plus the test they ordered I am assuming is for more then what I asked since it cost 400.00. They have yet to return my call and explain what tests are being run. The vet rattled off all these different tests and prices from $400.00 on up. It was on the paper work what I needed so why start telling me about other tests? Was she hoping I would okay more expensive testing that my bird did not need? There were several people in the room with us making it very stressful for my bird. I have no idea who they were or why they were all there and then they took my bird out of the room. After 10-15 minutes I was asked to vacate the room so someone with a cat could come in. I never saw the vet again and someone brought my bird out in her carrier. I asked to have her nails and beak trimmed, but I highly doubt it was done. They looked no different at all. Checkout was awful, there was no order and after waiting quite awhile I finally had to tell someone I was there to check out. The girl Chis became very condescending on the phone when I called back to complain about the bill and to get some answers regarding the tests. I was furious and yes I was yelling. At one point Chris laughed and had the audacity to tell me how expensive it is for tests on birds, like I am some idiot and have no idea after having my bird for 19 years. I told her I wanted Dr. Murray to call me and she laughed and said she would have the office manager call. I boarded my bird there last year for 3 weeks and she lost weight. They gave me back at least 80% of her pelleted food so I have no idea what she was feed for her main food source. I left detailed instructions on how to feed her. I started going to this practice back in the 70's when it was about the care of the animals and not the money. I finally switched vets and once again found a practice that is all about the animals and not the almighty dollar. Read Less

I was not a current customer of this vet. I have a baby albino green iguana (1 yr old)who was literally choking to death on a blue berry. I did everything I could to help save her and it was not working. They told us to bring her in immediately. Even after there was no heart beat they kept working on her. She did come back. After everything that happened today she should not be here today. They kept her for a few hour to watch her and keep her on oxygen and under a heat lamp. They were so kind and compassionate with my husband and I it was amazing. So then I am dreading the bill thinking it would be totally outrageous first off not being a customer and and emergency visit, it was extremely reasonable. I can not thank everyone there enough!!! I have always had extremely positive experiences with AHI. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the doctors are compassionate and knowledgeable, and the facility is clean and well maintained. The hospital offers a variety of specialty services such as grooming, boarding, emergency services, and exotic pet care. Since moving to the east side I have taken my ferrets there and have been very impressed. They may not always be the cheapest but their prices are still competitive and you know your pet is receiving great care. Read Less

We switched to Animal Hospital Inc. a few years ago and have had nothing but great experiences with them. Particularly with my rescue who is 15 and came with about 20 pages of medical history. They are always doing what they can to get me the best deal on medication and they take the extra time to educate me on her needs every visit. My family and I have been with Animal Hospital since the 60s when we had our beautiful collie, Kelly. She is sadly long passed, but we have had many, many kitties cared for by Dr. Henley, and later by Dr. Budz, Dr. Murray, and our beloved Dr. Dennis (who my kitties know as Doctor Debbie). This was the 1st time that we have boarded our 5 yo and 1.5 yo German Shepherds (our babies) . They (AHI) were so thorough from our 1st call with Katie to our 1st onsite visit and interfacing with Natalie, Ashley etc. This is the cleanest facility I have seen anywhere. Our Dogs stayed in the Presidential suite....spacious enough for our 2 dogs....they had 3 daily walks, plus playtime , nature walks etc. They could see what was going on through the clear doors of their suite. Oh-and one of the best things was to watch them throughout the day (500 miles away) from the webcam. What a confidence re-assuring feature. I can't say enough. We have not gone away in 5 years because of our concerns about boarding facilities----now I can't wait for our next trip. Read Less

Dr's Dennis, Barnheizer and Johnston are the best! They have taken care of "all" my pets for years. I have only seen Dr Johnston twice with my cat "willow" and she was caring, loving and even tried to help extend her life. I got my Baby girl after she had been badly abused in the first 3 mo. of her life, she was then fostered for 1 mo., and then they say we rescued her, actually she rescued us. I would like to tell everyone out there we tried several vets before we found Dr. Murray with the Animal Hospital. He is awesome, he is wonderful with my Baby, and trust me I don't let just anyone treat her. Two yrs ago she lost the use of her back legs in Feb. and with his advise we gave her laser treatments, steroids, muscle relaxers, and pain pills. She was fine by May she was like she was 2 yrs old again. Baby just turned 11 yrs. old in July, and I would recommend Dr. Murray to anyone. I would also like to say that the receptionist's are always pleasant, friendly, and understanding. I would also like to say that Mary Lemay went above and beyond to comfort me when Baby started having similar problems. She could still walk, but you could see it coming back, Mary came out to see me and made me feel like this is the only place to bring any pet. I've had three dogs over the last 30+ years (Missy, Maggie and now Cody) and have taken all three to The Animal Hospital. You can tell the staff and doctors (Cody's favorite is Dr Dennis) are compassionate, gentle, and very concerned about their patients. After moving, I thought I'd switch to a vet's office closer to my house.  BIG MISTAKE.  I should have known something was wrong when my very docile cat became aggressive when I took him to this vet.  (he'd always been a lover at my previous vet's office) My senior citizen cat was put through unnecessary tests without my consent.  When the time came for my kitty to cross the rainbow bridge, shortly after I switched to this vet,  the vet performing the procedure forced me to rush my goodbye and also rushed the procedure.  I'll spare the graphic details, but there are certain things that need to be done when an animal is euthanized (like making sure the animal is, in fact, euthanized) and the vet performing the procedure did not do that.  It was devastating.  In my grief stricken state, I didn't think it was appropriate for me to have to hunt someone down to confirm if my kitty had crossed over.To add insult to injury, the vet was extremely cold and rude to me and basically called me an "stupid" for being so emotional in her office.  I have told everyone I know about this awful experience.  In defense of this vet's office, after I wrote them a complaint letter, they did call me to apologize, but it was too little too late. a few years ago, i lived on the far east side,  and this was my vet.  this vet is so good that when i moved to nyc, i still kept my cat's physical appointments here and came home to get the meow meow's checked up.i'm not kidding.this is, by far, the best vet in the cleveland area.  i know it's a bit out there for those living in the main part of clevo, but i even though i've moved closer to downtown, i still take my two cats i've had to this vet.they do it all, and they're at the top of their game.  laser surgery, boarding, grooming, obedience training, nutrition, and even psychology for pets.  not kidding.  my dog had an allergy that was even determined with an veternarian allergic specialist.  these folks know what they're doing.everyone in my family takes their pets to animal hospital, and as long as i'm within driving distance to this place, so will i.
