In late 2013 my beloved German Shepherd, Angel, fell ill. I took her to one vet and as soon as I walked in I was pretty much told they accepted cash, check, and/ or credit card and the vet was not very sympathetic. Basically, I ran out the door. Took her to Ark Veterinary Hospital to "put her down." I felt she was pretty much a goner the way she was acting UNTIL we went to go to the Vet and she perked up and jumped into my vehicle . I felt welcomed right away and the people there felt very sympathetic as to what was going on. Dr. Redmond walks in and introduces himself and blatently told us that he was on the other side of the table himself, right wherr we were, before and to take no offense but he was working for Her and not for us (humans). What he meant by that is he wanted to be sure that we would not regret making such a decision to put her down that day. He knew I did not have much money at the time, and some of the testing was very expensive but given her symptoms he had seen cases like hers many times before. He strongly thought she had Lyme disease. She started out a month earlier a little lame in her front right leg and by the time evening came her same leg was fully limping and lame one. Before long she could hardly get up, if at all. The lameness continued to switch between her front legs and back legs. Dr. Redmond asked if I would like to her on some various meds to see if it would help her, and thought it worth a try. I agreed. At first she started to get better but unfortunately it was short lived. About 2 weeks later she really dwindled until she gave me "the look" that it was her time to go. While Angel did not make it, and I lost my dear friend, one thing was for certain, Ark Veterinary Hospital genuinely care for their patients. The way Dr. Redmond handled himself I will never forget and I will always be greatful for wanting to be sure I did not have a doubt in my mind intially about such a hard decision. After some time passed I recieved a very nice sympathy card from Ark too, and I greatly appreciated that. Angel meant a great deal to me and there is not a day goes by that I do not think of her. Eventually, a little over a year later I adopted a rescue dog from the Shelter and I took her to Ark. Dr. Redmond and the rest of the staff were equally nice upon bringing in Zoey too. I will continue to use Ark Veterinarian. Recently my husband's cousin asked me what their name was and I referred him to them. I believe upon referrals you get some sort of discount or something, but I did notnpush the issue because he too needed to help his dog cross the rainbow bridge.Read Less
