I've been going to Dr Mairs for about 14 years or more. Unfortunately my 8 year old was misdiagnosed by them recently, I had went in several times for the same issue and was told he was normal and healthy. I waited for things to get better, then went for a second opinion at another local vet, and was diagnosed with an illness. My 8 year old lab is now in Heaven. Could he have been saved had he been diagnosed months prior? I'm not a doctor but I'm willing to guess the outcome may have been different. Sadly, I have changed vets due to this. Not the best place if your animal has some behavioral problems or is aggressive when it's in a lot of pain, which is common for a lot of animals in the first place. They would rather recommend euthanization than deal with restraining a very small animal. I highly recommend the Animal Hospital, they have no problem restraining an animal themselves and they are very understanding. Read Less

Excellent for many reasons. First, it is very affordable as far as veterinary visits go. They have special rates for emergency visits, regular visits, and simply inoculation visits. I currently only use Mairs for the Small Animal "in patient" side of things, and the office is always clean and they sanitize rooms between patients. We have been with Mairs since 1985 with our family dogs. Both Dr. Mairs were very good about taking time to explain various health situations that came up. We had a few dogs that died of cancer over the years and one of old age. They helped us through those situations. Now that Dr. Mairs is retired and Richard works with just horses now, we are having Dr. Shannon help us work through our "new" older dog situations. She is very knowledgeable and takes time to give us her expertice and explore best how we should decide steps in our family dog's care. The STAFF, are awesome. They work so hard and have so many different pet owner personalities during the day. I am always amazed and thankful for them. We just had to put down our 15 year old dog and the staff was so caring. We took him in 2 months ago and we were listened too and our dog was treated so sweet. I have used Mairs Vet Clinic since 1980 and I could not be happier with their professionalism and caring perspective. They have spayed, neutered, declawed, performed surgeries and also helped some of my beloved animals cross the rainbow bridge. In March of 2014, my 9 yr old gelding suffered a very severe impaction. Without Rich, he would have died. Rich was there almost immediately and was at my barn 6 times in 5 days including once at midnight to tube him with oil and sedate him.
