I am new to the area and am shocked by this clinics false advertisement. I went into Village Animal Vet Animal Saturday morning for a routine visit. My small Maltese, Lexi, needed an updated heartworm shot and flea/tick medicine. She had also not been feeling herself and I wanted to have her looked at. The receptionist at the front had let me know that if I brought her in within a certain window of time that the exam fee is waved. I arrived at 11:35am for my appointment. The front desk staff and technicians are very friendly. I ended up waiting for over an hour to see the doctor. Around 12:45 I asked the lady at the front desk if I needed to reschedule. No one was there and I was trying to occupy my two year old, which can be quite difficult. Shortly after Dr. Setser came into the room to see my dog. He was nice, but not very thorough. He let me know that she had an issue with her knees, but overall looked healthy. I mentioned that she would be needing her teeth cleaned soon, but I did not have the money to pay for it at this time. Dr. Setser then went on to tell me that February is "dental month" and they give a $110 dollar discount for dental cleanings. He said, "I'm sure a young mother could find something to do with $160 extra dollars". He told me he could get her in that day and I would total be saving that much money. He said she would be out of there no later than 3pm that day. Overall, as a single mother, I was pretty happy to be able to get this taken care of for my dog. She needed the cleaning due to a bad tooth and I was happy it was going to be more affordable. Village Vet does not do financing or monthly payments so I had not been able to afford a procedure that is typically around $300 after all of the tests, antibiotics, blood tests, ect. I handed my dog over and went on my way. 3pm rolls around and I give the clinic a call and my dog had not even gone to the back to get started. I was a little frustrated because I had been told 3 would be the latest. She ended up being done closer to 6pm. When I went to pick her up is when I realized I had been scammed. When I went to pay the receptionist said it was going to be $360 dollars (no dis). I had her print out an itemized list and ran over all of the charges with her because that did not seem right. They had miss charged for a blood test, but other than that everything remained the same. She let me know that I was only receiving $55 discount on the teeth cleaning due to an exam fee that had already been waved. The problem there is that regardless, that exam fee was already waived. I asked to speak with their office manager, Michelle, who was very nice, but couldn't help much. I told Michelle that the Doctor, Dr. Setser, is the one that recommended for me to go ahead and get the procedure done today. I told her that he mentioned I would be saving $160 and quoted his "young mother" reference. I said that I assumed he was talking about the fee I was already receiving on the exam for the heartworm shot, which they had called and marketed to me plus the $110 for the dental cleaning. She said since I already had one credit with the exam they were not able to give me both. I again stated that the doctor is the one that told me to do it on that day for the savings. I asked if I would have come in a different day if I would have received the full $110 discount and she said "yes". She again went to the back and talked with the doctor. When she came back she let me know that he would not honor that even though he remembered saying it. I understand it is not a huge difference, but instead of saving $160 like he said I saved $55, basically making it normal $. If I had gone back on Monday I would have saved the full amount. I was scammed for a few extra dollars, by a Dr. He took advantage of me being a young single mom for his own personal gain. I went ahead and paid the bill, but I want everyone in the area to know what kind of Doctor they are dealing with at this clinic. Dr. Setser would not even come out and talk with me. It is bad business. Read Less
