So long story short is we found a stray. Went in early this morning to get her checked for a chip, and when there wasn’t one we decided to schedule an appointment for checkup. The receptionist and the technician were absolutely wonderful! But then the man who checked our dog came in, Paul Davis. We greeted him with “Hey, guy!” And was immediately rewarded with rude and hostile behavior. He got very angry that we did not address him as doctor. And due to that I will not address him as such here. We were only trying to be friendly and appreciative. And then he proceeded to insist we give up the dog. I recently witnessed an animal get run over by car and was injured and scared to death hiding under a car. Dr. Knott happened to be on her way to work and stopped to see if she could help. There wasn't much she could do at that point and we told her we were waiting for animal control as the dog was being very aggressive. I waited with the girl for animal control along with a few other guys, before animal control could even get there Dr. Knott came back with another guy and assisted in getting the scared dog out from underneath the car. If it wasn't for her coming back with the tools needed who knows how long that poor dog would have suffered. All of our family's animals have gone here. Since the early 90's Dr. Davis has treated Nikki, K.C., Chubby (Chewy), Keana, Harley, and Quinn. Though the first three are no longer with us they lived very long and healthy lives. A few years ago at the current location, when it was Chewy's time I was amazed by how they prepared the office and made the heartbreaking moment a little easier. The room had a nice blanket laid out, lights dimmed, and I believe even a candle. Because t...hey understand that you're not simply losing a "pet" but a MEMBER of the family. I can't count how many times they accommodated our family's worried inquiries (even when they were booked up) because they share in our concern. We have had such a good experience with Dr. Davis over the years that even though I now have my own home with a different vet office right outside of my neighborhood, I still choose to drive across town to take my dog (Hershey) to the Santa Fe vet clinic. This place came highly recommended to me. My dog had a reaction to a wasp sting and I've never dealt with it before. Her head and eyes swelled. By morning I was a bit panicked and called this place. I was told to take her to an emergency vet and was discouraged by the receptionist to even come in. But my transmission was out and this was the only place in walking distance. I finally got them to give me an appointment but that was 4 hours later and couldn't wait so I pleaded to bring my dog in. I was put on hold, then the receptionist came back and said the vet was there and I could bring her in right away. So I walked the 10 minutes and came in. The receptionist told me she was mistaken as to when the vet was coming in and apologized. I knew she was lying right away. I filled out paperwork and the vet did see me in a timely fashion. When I saw the vet he was cold and very rude. If it wasn't for the fact that this place was the closest to me I would of never gone here. I didnt feel welcome at all. The vet bill wasn't bad at all. Very reasonable. But the attitude from the male vet and the receptionist left me feeling that me and my dog were not wanted. I will not be back. Neither will either of my dogs and it is such a shame since they are so close to where I just moved to. I don't know them, so I don't understand why they would lie and be so very cold and rude. I felt stupid for even walking in and giving them any business since they clearly didnt care for it. I was advised at first to take my dog else where and would of if I was able to drive. I had to tell the receptionist that if my dog was dying I'd be going to the closest place to try saving her. She advised me to knock on neighbors doors to see if any of them could give me a ride to another facility. I just moved to this neighborhood, I'm not about to start knocking on strangers doors for a ride when I could just walk down the road and be at a vet in 10 minutes. I couldn't believe what I was being told over the phone when I first called. Me and my dogs are CLEARLY unwanted there and I don't have any clue as to why since I don't know these ppl and have never been there. I don't know what anyone else's experience is at this vet clinic but how do they stay open when they discourage ppl from bothering to come in with their pets. I'll never understand this and I won't be back. I apologized to them if I came across pushy. But the info I read online about a dogs face swelling and how this could stop them from breathing alarmed me. Which was why I HAD to bring her in. Today we had to say goodbye to our oldest dog Bella. She has been through this crazy life with Scott Horner for about 13 years. She has been an awesome family pet. We have been going to you for almost 15 years, and to be treated like that is completely unacceptable. You've had a long day at work? So has every person in the working force currently. So sorry to have to write a critical review, but my pets deserve caring veterinarians, which I definitely did not find at this clinic. After taking my beloved 9 year old lab in for an exam because suddenly he just was not acting well (very lethargic), they did testing and x-rays and found just a few numbers off a little.($500+ for the exam, x-rays and meds). However, the vet called back a week later saying that the x-ray specialist had seen a mass between his liver and spleen, and I should consider taking him to a specialist. Three days after that, on Friday afternoon, he seemed to be getting much worse, so I called to ask a few more questions and advice of the vet. I was told that the vet was not in, would be in on saturday morning but would only return my call if there was time between appointments, and if not, it would be Tuesday before I received a call back. This is now 2-1/2 months later and I never received that call back. In fact, they don't even know that only a week later I had to have my pet put down because he was in so much pain and desperately ill. (In the meantime, I had called another vet and gotten some pain meds.) I would never, ever go back there and would advise anyone who cares about their pets to avoid them and find a place that truly cares about pets. Read Less

We had been going to Santa Fe Vet because theyre very close to our home, which is important to me as a 63 year old woman. But on Dec 11 while I was holding the door open for a customer to could get out of the door, one of her dogs bit me. When the Santa Fe staff realized I had been bitten, they stated: if it makes you feel any better, the dog is up to date on his rabies shot. And that was it. There was no offer to help in any way, no one even asked if I was okay not even the dog owner. Due to the severity of the bite, I had to go to urgent care and get a tetanus shot. My two dogs were patients at Santa Fe Vet Clinic for four plus years. I had never had an emergency until this summer (2014). On their web site it states that if there is an emergency during office hours to please call when you are on your way to the clinic. I did call and stated that one of my dogs was seriously hurt (this was a Friday morning about 9:30). The receptionist informed me that they were too busy to see me and sent me to the emergency vet clinic on Memorial, which was a horrible experience. The next morning we realized that our baby was going to have to be put to sleep so I called Santa Fe Vet Clinic and again, during office hours, and said I was bringing her in and that she needed to be put to sleep. The receptionist again said that they were too busy and sent me to the emergency clinic. I was stunned. I have only had two other vets in my life, one in Norman and one in Florida. While I have only had four true vet emergencies in all the years that I have had pets (dogs), I have never had a vet turn me away during clinic hours. I have talked with several pet owners about what happened and everyone of them has been stunned. I wrote a letter to Dr. David expressing my disappointment in the care and never recieved any type of response. I will never take my ohter baby back and have found a vet that also thought that type of service is acceptable. I highly recommend that you find a vet who cares more about their patients and will build a relationship with you and your pets.Read Less

The worst vet clinic ever! The staff is very rude. No one at the clinic cares about you or your pets, they treat you like you are nuisance to deal with. Dr Davis is not compassionate at all, extremely hard to talk to & is very lazy in his approach to finding out what's wrong with your pet. Instead of finding a solution the first visit or 2, he takes the long way around to get more money by having you come back over & over. Dr. Davis is one of the kindest and most proficient veterinarians I have ever met. I feel like his first priority is always the animals. He goes above and beyond what is required of a doctor. I trust him implicitly with my animal family members. We lost our young pit bull rescue to inoperable cancer. She was the sweetest dog I've ever met, even though she had been found tied to a tree to die with her brother. Dr. Davis tried everything he could to save her, but the humane thing for her was euthanasia. Despite the fact that Dr. Davis and Dr. Knotts, who was a tech then, were so sad they couldn't save our precious dog they were so sensitive in delivering the news to us. I grieved her loss acutely, but I always felt she had been the one place where if she could've made it she would have. Dr. Knotts is very reassuring in the confident way she handles her cases. She is calm, clearly incredibly intelligent, caring, and competent. I know she, too, puts the welfare of the animals above all other issues. I have never felt more comfortable or reassured than when I am at Santa Fe Veterinary Clinic with my pets. Recently my 14-year old dog had a stroke. It is imperative that she takes her 3 pills a day to prevent another stroke. I was almost out of one of her prescriptions. I hadn't noticed how close we were to running out of one of them. I spoke with Dr. Knotts about it, and within the hour she got back to me and told me that Blaire Logan, the office manager, had called the prescription in and gave us 5 refills. Blaire is an amazingly kind and intelligent member of the staff at Santa Fe Veterinary Clinic. I always recommend Dr. Davis and Dr. Knotts to anyone I know who needs a veterinarian. The two vets there now are so laid back, they give me confidence that my animals will always be given the best care there is. It is difficult for me to believe that "Z R." and "Turtle G" are reviewing the same clinic that I have personally taken all of my animals to for more than 10 years. Dr. Davis has seen 4 of my dogs, 3 of my guinea pigs, one cat who is now sporting more than 9 lives, and whatever animal I come across that is in need of veterinary care from someone that I wholeheartedly trust. It is also difficult for me to believe that someone who has completed over 8 years of graduate work and dedicated his life to the care and treatment of our beloved animals (while dealing with the owners) would "not care" about them.My cat was recently hit by a car, and my first response was to call Dr. Davis's office. It was 12:00 and time for their lunch hour, but he stayed and took care of him-one example of many that I could use regarding his compassionate care.As for the emergency vet clinic, I am grateful to have that referral. As much as I like Dr. Davis, I am sure that he would like to spend some time at home with his family as well as his practice. As an ICU nurse, I can assure you that if he were to take call, he would never make it home.The front staff has always been more than helpful with any of my concerns regarding my animals, and are quite friendly. They have always treated my pets as if they were their own.Many times, the issues tend to boil down to money. I have checked other offices and find his prices to be very reasonable.We do have many fine veterinarians in this area. You can add Dr. Davis, and his new associate, Dr. Knotts, to that list. I like this clinic. I can always get my dogs in, and I can leave them if needed. We haven't ever had to wait long. I think they do a good job with treatment balancing overdoing it while still be attentive to needs. My only criticism is that they seem to nickel and dime a bit. There is a filing fee for records for example, and when I requested a new rabies tag, they seemed that it was no big deal. Then I was charged about $10 for the new tag. Dr. Davis does not care about you OR your animal. He and his staff (with the exception of Dr. Metcalf) are fake and snotty and don't do a very good job at hiding that fake smile. They never have a Dr. on call, and just leave the emergency hospital number on the voice mail. Our dogs had several procedures with them, and not ONCE did they ever call to check on how they were doing. After my husband saw and heard how I was treated after I called to return one of the Dr's calls to get lab results from a procedure & one of his assistants answered the phone and was very hateful and hung up on me, he called their office. Dr. Davis refused to even address the issue of how I was treated, which was why my husband was so upset and calling in the first place, and flat out didn't care. He told my husband he didn't care how much we just spent with them and just blew him off. Then, he had to nerve to tell him that he was really just mad that he hadn't gotten the lab results yet. My husband assured him multiple times, that he wasn't upset about that at all. He was upset at how HIS staff treated me. It didn't make a difference, and he didn't care one bit. It was never addressed, or even an apology issued. It's unfortunate that Dr. Metcalf is so sweet and in a group like that. I know a lot of people that go to this facility, and I have and will make sure they are aware of the way we were treated.There's a lot of veterinarians in Edmond and the surrounding areas, and if I were you, I'd just bypass this one and save yourself the stress and heartache and go to somebody that will genuinely care about your pets. The staff is extremely rude, and Dr. Davis automatically defends his staff and refuses to address the problem. He informed my husband that he doesn't care how much money we've spent there and made excuses for his staff. Dr. Metcalf is extremely sweet, & seems to actually care about the animals. Dr. Davis owns the clinic & he does NOT care about you OR your animals. We have had several procedures done there, & not once have they called to check on our dog the next day or anything. They NEVER have a Dr. on call & just refer you to the emergency clinic. Save yourself the stress & heartache & go somewhere that genuinely cares about you and your pets. Read Less
