This was my first time at this vet. From the very beginning, I didn’t have the best experience but went through with the appointment because I was already there, and my dog needed a check-up and updated shots. All recommended tests and vaccinations were given. I declined to purchase Simparica Trio (flea, tick, & heartworm prevention). I paid for my services and declined next appointment scheduled. I found the medication available online at chew.com for so I ordered it. Chewy called the vet to confirm the prescription, but they said that my dog has never been a patient there. I confirmed the vet info with them. They called again and were told this time that he hasn’t been seen in the last 6 months which is false. I proceed to contact the vet myself. I was told that because I declined a second visit, I severed the doctor/ patient relationship and that my dog Marco is no longer a patient there. I paid for all required testing to receive this medication, but because I chose not to return to their office and to purchase the medication elsewhere, they are trying to punish me and my dog which is very telling of who they are and why we are choosing not to return there. I contacted my previous vet who recommended I file a complaint with the Oklahoma Veterinary Board which is what I did. In addition to this, the staff was completely rude and not helpful. You are given an invoice as soon as you walk in and are expected to sign it agreeing to recommended services. All this without anyone even seeing my dog first. I declined to sign and asked for an explanation what each recommended service is. It wasn’t until I decided to try and leave the appointment could the vet explain to me what each service I was being charged was for. This was by far the most expensive vet I have ever been to which I honestly wouldn’t have minded if the quality of care was there and not just caring what is in my wallet. I was asked zero questions about my dog, his current health, his diet, exercise, etc.

After taking my dog here several times, best believe me when I tell you DO NOT GO HERE! They charge $50 office visits, and your animal will leave with fleas. I’ve experienced both. They TAKE, TAKE, TAKE money, and provide TERRIBLE service.

I adopted a new cat in March. I chose Hergenrether to do his checkup since it was a complimentary thing through animal control. He and the staff there were very nice and thorough. Shadow seemed to like them too, as he flopped over for belly rubs and lovings.

Hergenrether Animal Hospital provides the GOLD STANDARD in local Veterinarian services. The entire staff is exceptionally friendly, caring, and efficient! The automated aspect (email appointment reminders, "up front" billing, and speed of processing payments) is top notch. Dr. Hergenrether never falls short of providing genuine care and concern for his clients (pets and owners alike). He has seen us through the life cycle of several of our beloved dogs and has helped mend our broken hearts as we bid them farewell. All your expectations for accurate diagnoses and expert guidance in pet care reside here. Truly a Lawton gem!

My dogs first began to see Dr. Hergenrether in 2000. When we got puppies in 2002 he was with us all the way. We followed him when he opened his own clinic. He loves animals as if they were all his. He was there when our older dogs began their decline through their deaths. He taught me how to correct some of the things I was doing wrong in caring for our dogs. I sometimes disappointed him when I didn't bring them in at the first sign of trouble, but our dogs were experts at playing pitiful for extra food or hugs. He took one of our dogs home with him when it got seriously ill so that he could quickly respond and not leave him alone in a kennel to die, which he did. All of or dogs have passed now and we have recently moved out of state, but when I get another dog I hope our new vet will be as good as Dr. Hergenrether and his wonderful staff. One of our dogs was a beautiful toy dachshund and they always had extra smiles for her and often held her while she was there. I couldn't ask for more! I'll miss them all.

We have known Dr. H personally since 2003 and he has taken care of our fur babies all that time. The level of care that he and his staff give to both our pups, as well as to us, is outstanding. He understands that a good relationship with pet parents is just as important as a good relationship with the pet. We have had a few health scares with our oldest pup, who is now 16, and Dr. Hergenrether has been a calming influence. He is always straightforward with us, so if he says not to worry, we don't worry. In 2014, our oldest was bitten by an infected tick and nearly died. Dr. H did everything in his power to diagnose the problem, but when it became clear that he didn't have the equipment necessary for an accurate diagnosis, he sent us to the vet hospital at Oklahoma State University and made sure that Sasha received immediate and life-saving care. Then he worked with the OSU team to insure a full recovery. We are truly grateful for the care he gives to our girls.

What a WONDERFUL hospital to take your animals to. I had the absolute pleasure of working here for 3 years (sadly I am moving and had to say good bye) and this is the only hospital in southwest Oklahoma that I would trust my babies with. Both Dr. Hergenrether and Dr. Underwood are extremely knowledgeable and will ALWAYS do right by your pet, no matter the circumstances. Plus, the staff is very intelligent, compassionate, and hard working. This is definitely a high-quality hospital that has a wonderful atmosphere full of love, knowledge, and compassion for each and every fur-loved one that comes to see them. What a pleasure it has been being able to take my babies here. I will be traveling all the way back from Denver just so my pets can continue to see Dr. Hergenrether. Hergenrether Animal Hospital is an absolute blessing and I will continue to sing their praise.

Dr. Hergenrether & Dr. Underwood are absolutely wonderful. You can tell that they are in this profession because they true care for animals. Our Sicily was very well taken care of each time we go there. I'm proud to day that they are the ones taking care of my furbaby. The front Desk reps are wonderful as well. Everyone here is caring and go above & beyond to provide the next level of care for the ones we love so much. I would highly recommend them to everyone! Thank you!

He is definitely not in the business only for the money, he truly cares about each and every "family member" brought in to be seen. I have had pets in Lawton for the last 20 years & I have never had a better veterinarian!

I highly recommend this animal hospital. I have never seen such love and compassion from another person. To share just how much they care on Christmas Eve we had to rush my full blooded Bengal cat into the hospital because we knew he was dying come to find out he ate an ear plug which clogged his intestine he couldn't pass it and couldn't hack it up they performed emergency surgery on him and called me every day to up date us and let us come every day to visit and hold him. They even washed my jacket that he puked on. But really the best I've seen in this town and I've been to several hands down the only people I'll take my furr babies.

We have known Dr. Hergenrether for 12 years and he has cared for our dog Sasha for her whole life (11 years). He is the best veterinarian in Lawton and takes such great care of all of us. He's knowledgeable, gentle and loving with Sasha, and has a great sense of humor. The facilities are terrific and the staff is so friendly. When you take your pet to Hergenrether Animal Hospital, you can be assured that he or she will have the best care possible. They are the absolute best!!!

My dog Meko was really sick they got me in with the whole day booked and after hours! The doctor stayed late to help me ! I used the free 1st visit cupon I got on there website.The staff seemed very caring for my puppy , and they were very nice and polite to me.Being this is my first time dealing with a vet being 21 , I am satisfied with the whole picture at Hergenrether. Love Dr Hergenrether. Followed him from Meadow wood Animal Hospital on cache. He is very sympathetic and very thorough and he doesn't sugar coat things. I moved across town and I will still make the 20 minute drive passing countless other vets to see him. I will never go anywhere else.

This was my first time at this vet. From the very beginning, I didn’t have the best experience but went through with the appointment because I was already there, and my dog needed a check-up and updated shots. All recommended tests and vaccinations were given. I declined to purchase Simparica Trio (flea, tick, & heartworm prevention). I paid for my services and declined next appointment scheduled. Dr. Hergenrether & Dr. Underwood are absolutely wonderful. You can tell that they are in this profession because they true care for animals. Our Sicily was very well taken care of each time we go there. I'm proud to day that they are the ones taking care of my furbaby. The front Desk reps are wonderful as well. Everyone here is caring and go above & beyond to provide the next level of care for the ones we love so much. I would highly recommend them to everyone! Thank you!

He is definitely not in the business only for the money, he truly cares about each and every "family member" brought in to be seen. I have had pets in Lawton for the last 20 years & I have never had a better veterinarian!

We have been bringing our pets to them for over a year now. Very kind staff and a very knowledgeable doctor. Definitely NOT the cheapest vet in town, but I would recommend them to anyone! Very clean facilities as well. They do offer a free first visit as well from their website.

I highly recommend this animal hospital. I have never seen such love and compassion from another person. To share just how much they care on Christmas Eve we had to rush my full blooded Bengal cat into the hospital because we knew he was dying come to find out he ate an ear plug which clogged his intestine he couldn't pass it and couldn't hack it up they performed emergency surgery on him and called me every day to up date us and let us come every day to visit and hold him. They even washed my jacket that he puked on. But really the best I've seen in this town and I've been to several hands down the only people I'll take my furr babies.

We have known Dr. Hergenrether for 12 years and he has cared for our dog Sasha for her whole life (11 years). He is the best veterinarian in Lawton and takes such great care of all of us. He's knowledgeable, gentle and loving with Sasha, and has a great sense of humor. The facilities are terrific and the staff is so friendly. When you take your pet to Hergenrether Animal Hospital, you can be assured that he or she will have the best care possible. They are the absolute best!!!

My dog Meko was really sick they got me in with the whole day booked and after hours! The doctor stayed late to help me ! I used the free 1st visit cupon I got on there website.The staff seemed very caring for my puppy , and they were very nice and polite to me.Being this is my first time dealing with a vet being 21 , I am satisfied with the whole picture at Hergenrether. They also gave me a free leash too lol.

Love Dr Hergenrether. Followed him from Meadow wood Animal Hospital on cache. He is very sympathetic and very thorough and he doesn't sugar coat things. I moved across town and I will still make the 20 minute drive passing countless other vets to see him. I will never go anywhere else.
