My dog and I have tried a few different Veterinary Clinics in and around Norman and MSVH is the best. They are very caring towards all Pets and their owners. I would recommend them to anyone that really cares for their Pet and not wanting to pay the higher cost for lesser care of other Veterinarian Clinics just out for your hard earned cash. My dog was in big trouble a week ago. We held him to emergency room very early in the morning. They did the blood work and temperature and sent us back to our family vet, Main Street Vet. We came with a dog crying, extremely exhausted and bloody urine. From the receptionist to the 3 Drs there, they all care for him from the 1st second he arrived. He was bathed, checked on temperature and treated all kinds of intensive care they offer daily. He was from edge of dying to now capable of coming home for tonight. It is a miracle. I can decide to have my dog live but they are the ones who make or facilitate my dog to live. I do not have the experience and effort of 15 people crew to save his life. He is loved by all the people in this clinic. He is very lucky. He still will have a long journey of recovery, but he will be in good hands with Main Street Vet. My 16 yr. old dog Chaweenie was an inside pet. He was so healthy. He never really went to vets. He went to be neutered, when he needed a flea medicine (comfortis) I went to Main st Vet for first time 4 mo, later he had to be put down. Chaweenie was always healthy it was hard. I knew he needed to be put down when he started having breathing problems. It was so hard because everything else worked fine. He could see perfect, he could hear perfect, he didn't have arthritis, his mind was clear he never changed. Right up to when he passed he was my baby Chaweenie. When I took him in the doctor told me his lungs were full of fluid, I knew then that I was making the right decision. The Dr. was amazing. It was such an amazing thing to be their with him loving him and being able to talk with him right up until he took his last. I told him I loved him and he was the Best Dog in the world and I told him to tell his brother and sister that I will see them all 3 of them again, I told him to save a place for me in Heaven. That I would see him first hopefully he would be there to meet me. I can't thank the Dr. enough for making this moment so beautiful and tranquil. The other day I opened my mail and it there was a plaque with Chaweenie's name on it and his paw print, I will cherish this forever. Read Less

We have been going to MSVH for a few years now. They are very nice to our fur babies and extremely knowledgable about any procedures, medications, or just about our animals in general. We have even used to them to board our babies when we go on vacation. I highly recommend them! Read Less

My German Shepard jumped off a 14 ' balcony in okc. My regular vet was in Houston and had nobody that could help us. I contacted main St vet in Norman and they got us right in, despite my dog being scared and uncooperative they managed to get him all fixed up and back on his way. The people were so kind and knowledgeable it made me feel so at ease in a bad situation. The cost of this visit was extremely reasonable. This will be my new vet from here out!!! Read Less

I already have a primary vet at Banfield pet hospital and I absolutely love them but when my dog was going to possibly need abdominal surgery I had to find someone who would be able to make it more affordable and help me financially. I called Main Street vet and not only did they quote me for half the cost I would of had to pay at any other clinic they also told me they would make arrangements to get him in same day and get him taken care of. The end of last September a tiny little kitten showed up at our house. Scared and too young to survive on his own, our son was able to catch it a week later. MSV has provided care for our Mr Lucy Larry since (plus our other cats). A week ago today we took him in because he was having great difficulty breathing and had a high fever. The news we got the next day was not good. He had a 3 strain bacterial infection around his lungs. Recommended treatment was to send him to a specialty hospital for chest tubes. We were already at a $600 bill and financially could not afford another $2000+ bill. We were going to have to put him down so he wouldn't suffer. There has not been any guarantees. We chose to leave him there and Dr Schafer-Ray would continue to drain his chest as needed for comfort. We had to leave town 2 days after taking him in and Dr Schafer-Ray and MSV has been so caring to communicate with me via email on his condition. Today's news was that he is looking really good and ate all his food. We feel blessed to have such a wonderful team working so hard providing Mr Lucy Larry the best possible care and loving on him while we couldn't. Can't wait to see him in the morning. We had to take our 9-year-old cat here yesterday to have her put down, and they were extremely professional and caring. It was a Saturday, and our regular vet had already closed, but they helped end her suffering and for that we are grateful. It was my first experience with them, and though it was certainly not the best of circumstances, I just want them to know they did a good job and I know that that is probably the worst part of the job for some. It was also a nice touch that the vet's assistant cleaned up her leg for us after removing the catheter; we had to have a cat put down at a different emergency clinic in Norman a few years ago, and they didn't bother to do that. I appreciate him treating our family member with dignity even after she had passed. I will also say that while nobody likes to pay to have their pet taken from them, their price was very reasonable compared to that other place we had to use before. I brought in my precious little angel. They treated him so nice, it turns out they gave him the wrong amount of medication for his size. He died 2 days after his vaccinations from this place!!!!! If I had it to do over again I wouldn't ever tak him here. I was in the waiting office and this nurse type I guess the vets apprentice maybe. Pulled her aside and I heard her say "incorrect amount" !!! I don't know anything about the vet world but I have raised 2 kids. And hearing someone gave my kids to much of a dose is of course going to make me go crazy..I called 3 different times and only received 1 missed call from the vet. I was busy burying my precious angel, she had done enough!!! She wasn't about to interrupt my angels burial!! She never even apologized!! And still stuck me with the bill!!!! This is hands down the most compassionate, caring and well trained staff around (check out the bios pages). They always make themselves available for appointments that work with your schedule (with a very happy attitude). We had a tragic accident with one of our pets, once they found out we received a sympathy card with hand written sentiments from each of the staff.... still brings me to tears to think of this act of kindness! Each staff from the representationist, the vet techs to the veterinarians are always ready to listens and share in the joy of your pets and never have I felt rushed out if I need to ask questions. Main St. Veterinary Hospital is AWESOME! They treat your pet like he or she was their own. My Dog LOVES to visit all the employees and Vets there. They have really helped her feel like a new dog (she has several things wrong with her and some days she doesn't feel like herself when she's having one of "those" days I just take her by the vets and they watch her while I go to work and by the time I pick her up she's feeling better) There's no way we can thank the employees at Main St. Vet. enough for all they do for our little dog, They are truly like family to us ( especially since my dog doesn't let anyone but family hold her and she goes right to them) Read Less

My family and I have had 5 cats and 1 dog, we take them all to Dr. Kerry Shafer-Ray at MSVH. I also worked there for 1 year when I was in college, so I know the doctor personally and have seen behind the scenes. I can say honestly that this clinic is the most professional, sincere, and caring facilities in the area. Once, the veterinarian even helped me in an emergency with one of my pets after hours.
