I used to go to Dr. Newnam years and years ago, but starting 2005 or so I noticed how her prices started to hike and hike, so I just looked for another vet.
Now recently I needed to get my old dog to get a tooth pulled out. I called, there was no way I could get an estimate over the phone. I HAD to see the doctor in person to get the dog evaluated.
After a long wait in a horribly stinking waiting room, too small to accomodate more than 3 people with their pets, with no way to keep your pet away from untrained pitbulls that look not too friendly, I finally went in the back and was put in a room in an even more horrible stink. I mean, gagging, imagine the smell of gangrene mixed with C diff and lots of animal feces and urine. Don't get me wrong, the place seems clean but it stinks to high heavens.
After a fairly long consultation, in which I kept being told all kinds of things I should be giving my dog even if I said that my dog is already seen by another vet, who unfortunately doesn't do dental work on dogs, finally I was told to call later for the estimate. I did. Then called 3 days later. Was asked to call again. I did. I was finally told they'd call me back. They did, one day after that, at 8:30 pm. My estimate was... $461. Seriously. If I would have been told an approximate estimate over the phone, I wouldn't even have bothered to put my dog and myself (I'm a disabled cancer survivor) through the unpleasantness of this visit. But the doc needed to cash in for a visit, right?
This place is now a rip-off for people with lots of money. While I was in the waiting room I noticed what was going on, a lot of unnecessary expensive supplements recommended and the impossible to miss Science Diet pile of shelves.
And the stink. The stink, goodness gracious! Read Less
