My neighbor, Mindy, suggested we try "Awesome Care" for our Cheweenie Misty she was itching and the previous vet we brought her to told us to give her a half Zertec or Benedril - we did and it put her to sleep when she woke up she still itched! Dr. Clough and all ther staff is absolutely awesome. We made a quick trip to Arkansaw and boarded Misty with the clinic they were so good to her. We are heading back to Arkansaw tomorrow to attend a funeral, Misty will once again board with Awesome Care, and although we will miss her we know she will be well taken care of. Read Less

1st visit with very sick, 10-yr old terrier mix. Staff was very personable & both were ladies were in different stages of training. Knowledgeable with animals, just learning this doctor's routine. Doctor came to reception area to visit with me which relaxed my dog. Expensive trip BUT she was very ill. I'm newly back to this area so I do not have a comparison. The staff is amazing! Dr. Clough is awesome. Very compassionate and gives you all options and allows you to decide what is best for your pet and your budget. Great service for both my dogs. Dr. Clough is very "pet friendly" and no-nonsense. Does not overcharge, but gives you levels of care commensurate with what you are willing to spend. We treat our dogs like kids, so we don't want "cheap" service, but for those that see them just as animals, she offers more economical choices. Overall, highly recommend!!! Read Less

Took Tigger to Awesome Care today for her checkup. Dr. Cammie Clough and her staff genuinely care about Tigger. They are very professional, compassionate and friendly. In the last few years we have used Awesome Care exclusively Dr Clough is a very caring Dr and the techs took very good care when my Persian Cat was going through renal failure My Hus and I are disabled but we have done the best we can to take care of our fur family. I took my dog who had been vomiting all morning there on a Saturday. The vet we usually take him too was packed and were warned it would be 4-5 hours to see the vet. When we arrived we were taken back to see a Dr. Sharon Minks or Minx. She pretty much said she had no idea what could possibly be wrong with the dog and to know for sure she would need to take x-rays, stool samples, keep him overnight, do blood tests etc. She said she was only doing this because she wanted to provide the best care possible. She gave us an estimate of $1,200 and said that if we didn't do what she asked we were short changing our dog. She said she would be back to let me think about it. At around the same time she started having a verbal altercation with an employee or a former employee you could hear her yelling "Get out, I don't want to talk to you and all you could hear was Dr. Minks please give me a chance to explain. I called my sister who said she had already called another vet near our home and they wold make sure our dog got in as soon as possible.The assistant came in and asked what we thought, we really could not afford $1,200 so we said we couldn't. She said she would be back with our bill. She came back and we never sae the vet again. Usually that isn't the case. I cna't believe it was pretty much a you can't pay, leave type of situation. We went to the other vet and while we did wait about 2 hours, they prescribed some anitbiotics and our dog wasmuch better after a couple of days. All in all if was only $60 dollars which was much more reasonable. I have heard good things about Dr. Juletia Gonzalez but recommend you don't even deal with anyone else if you go here. Read Less

How nice it is to meet a Veterinarian that not only cares about my pet but she cares about my pet's owner. I actually met Dr Clough a couple of years ago at another hospital, she was amazing when she came into the room she immediately smiled at and made gentle eye contact with my nervous baby. She talked to her for a moment then finally introduced herself to me. Throughout the visit she was caring and compassionate to my pets fear and needs. She talked gently through her exam and made sure I understood every aspect of her exam. She left that hospital and bought Awesome Care a couple of months ago where she was able to actually lower the prices which really helped our family this year. She sees not only my 2 pets by 7 other family members pets. We think she is great. I would tell anyone go see her and you will never want another vet again. Dr. Julieta Gonzalez passed away August 1, 2011 after a valient fight with cancer. I am writing this review to dispel some of the viscious comments posted here. I suspect that those reviews were written and planted as a personal attack on Dr. Gonzalez because of some sick or twisted jealousy and I believe all were written by the same person. I say this because: I knew Dr. Gonzalez personally and can state with no hestitation that she was a saint to any animal she cared for. As an example, I have personally accompanied her to her clinic after hours and witnessed as she would comfort, cry and literally lie down beside sick animals and pray for them. I also know for a fact that money was never an issue for her and she took care of any animal brought to her clinic no matter if the patient had funds to pay or not. She would even take in anonymous, injured animals brought to her absorbing all costs associated with their treatment in rehabilitation. I have never known a more caring or knowledgeable veterinarian in my lifetime and doubt that I will ever meet another like her. Shame on you, whoever you are that wrote those lying reviews. I took my one year-old dog in for her annual shots. She's known to be afraid of strangers, especially at the vet clinic, which was made clear to the employees prior to the appointment. Despite this, the vet waltzed right in and shot up my dog and shot liquid down her nose before proceeding to scold me because my dog was petrified of her afterward. She didn't even so much as pet her or greet us, she just came in to ""get it done and over with quickly."" Other vets I've dealt with have paused and kindly offered my dog a treat to reassure her that they're not mean people before proceeding to examine her or give her shots. This vet proved to be callous and uncaring, and simply scolded me because my dog didn't like her. She proceeded to be condescending despite my questions, and criticized both me and my dog. I will never again return to Awesome Care after that horrible ordeal. Julietta Gonzalez is a disgrace to the name 'veterinarian', and should learn to be more patient and considerate to her clients and patients. For someone who supposedly cares about animals, she treated my baby like nothing more than a means for her to earn some cash. If that wasn't bad enough, the receptionist was unresponsive and unfriendly... AND they insisted I buy supplements for my dog that I know she doesn't need. They also wanted to perform additional exams, to which I refused. Too bad I know enough about dogs that they can't take me for a ride. The only pro of Awesome Care is the fact that they have two veterinarians, and if you're lucky enough not to get Gonzalez, then you'll have an awesome vet. Are you kidding me???!! I have lived in the okc area for over 25 years. Most of which I have owned dogs. I have been to many clinics in this area and Awesome care is the best. Two of my dogs have been thru surgery with both Dr. Julie and Dr. Cowdrey. They and their staff are compassionate both to myself and my pets. They have always been thorough in their testing before they come to a decision on what you shoud/can do for your pet. They offer options to you depending on how much you can or want to do. I hav ecompared prices with other clinics and found Awesome care to be right in line with the other top clinics in OKC. While I'm sure there are cheaper clinics in the area, you get what you pay for, and my pets deserve the best care I can give them.My dogs love to go there. The clinic is always very clean and quiet, not chaotic like many others. I have been all through the clinic when my dog was there recouping from surgery. The entire clinic is filled with the most up to date equipment they can offer and all pets are kept in clean cages. They also have a exercise yard with agility course. My neighbor also takes his pets to Awesome Care. I would recommend them to anyone that truely wants the best care for their pets and the kindest attitude for your concerns as their parents.I assure you everyone in the clinic speaks perfect english. I have three dogs, one of them is an English Bulldog. Bulldogs have special needs that most vets can't always handle. I took him to Awesome Care when a friend suggested them. I'm not easily impressed, and I watch the interactions of all staff with the dogs. It isn't just about the vets. It's how the entire staff makes the animals feel. I've yet to have any of my dogs not want to go in when we are there. The bulldog comes in, says his hi and tries to head back to the exam room. They are caring, always give you the time you need to ask questions, and always make sure you have all your answers before you leave. After surgery one time, the bulldog had some added problems with the incision, and he was in there just about every day for a few days. We would just drop in, and they would take care of him....at no cost to us. Dr. Cowdrey always tells it like it is, and pulls no punches. I like that. She's always got the welfare of the dogs as the top priority, and takes the time to make sure they are taken care of. I know I can call there any time and get answers, and many times that means talking directly to her. The staff there is excellent, and I'll not be changing vets. Read Less

Over the past several years I have used alot of veterinarians for my pets.Once i used awesome care, I never went back to any of the other places again.They provide a very high quality of care for pets and they always make sure they find out what the problem is, when other vets can't or don't know.I do know that they are highly qualified vets, and the staff is also great and friendly.Everytime I go there, the clinic is nice and clean, and smells as fresh as a breezy meadow!My pets don';t always respond well to vets, but when I take them to awesome care's clinmic they never get stressed out over going in. That is because they are treated so well by the staff and the docs there.The last time i took my pets there for their checkups the vet was awesome "like their name". She really helped me with everyting so well tha i didn't have to worry about anything.I won't keep going on and on with this review, but i would like to end by saying that it is about time we got a clinic like theirs in oklahoma city. especlly the south side. most south side clinics ouldn't compare to this one if they tried for a hundred years. too bad fro them.Anyway, i'm never switching to another pet clinic. ever. I apprecate all you do for muy pets, and i hope you stay in business for along time too because I don't know what my pets would do without you.'If there is anything you ould do to imporove your service it would be to have a bigger place so that more people could come thre with their dogs, and maybe you should start a day camp too. Awesome Care is a great clinic for all pets. The only downside is that there aren't more locations!!! I drive from Moore to the SW 74th location, but I pass 20 vet clinics along the way to Awesome Care because it is the only clinic I trust with my beloved pets.They are gentle, kind and very professional. My wife and I have been clients of Awesome Care for many years now. Each and every time we visit the clinic our pets love the experience and leave happy. They never fight us to go in the door at the clinic because the entire staff is very loving and kind toward them.The treatment they receive is exceptional because they perform testing to zero in on the problem so that we can get to the solution immediately and without numerous visits back and forth to the clinic. I am extremely picky in choosing the best health care for my Great Danes. Awesome care has provided me and my Danes with exceptional service for many years. My last Dane lived to be almost 12 years old because of the superb treatment that she received at Awesome Care, and my 2 year old Dane has been receiving the same quality of treatment as well.I receive cards in the mail and phone calls when my pet is sick to check on my pet and remind me to bring her in for a final checkup after medications are given. I receive reminder cards for all the shots, preventative treatments and tests that pets need in order to keep them happy and healthy. I can call and speak to my pet's Vet and ask questions and get advice. During the several years of regular visits to this clinic, I have been very impressed by the thorough tests they perform to ensure that I make the best treatment decisions for my pets. For instance, today I took my Dane to Awesome Care for a swollen eye and red spots on her abdomen. Although Dr. Julieta was certain that it was a chemical reaction from my swimming pool water, she advised me to allow her to scrape some of the tissue from my Dane's abdomen to test it to make sure that there wasn't something else going on with my pet since she had gone to a Doggy camp last weekend to play with her doggie friends. She also tested her cornea for damage to make sure that it was in fact just an allergic reaction. Thank you Dr. Julieta! Dr. Julieta has a beautiful accent, but speaks clear and fluent English and is always very thorough with treatments and is always very kind and loving with my pets. THEY LOVE ALL THE VETS AT AWESOME CARE and they have such a positive experience every single time. Awesome Care Clinic has provided the best care for our "kids": 4 dogs including 2 lovable pit mixes. In fact, my husband and I live in Norman and make the trip to Awesome Care, and specifically to Dr. Cowdrey, because of the service we receive there - Dr. Cowdrey has even contacted us during a weekend to check on the status of one of our dogs after we took her home after a procedure. We've referred multiple friends and colleagues to Awesome Care. I read the reviews by mimimama and leximama below and strongly feel that this is one of those clients who expect their animals to be cared for (or their LIVES SAVED) at no charge and then get mad when they realize that's not the case - Awesome Care has very reasonable prices, and are in fact quite a bit lower than other clinics we've gone to before discovering them. We have never experienced a bad odor in the clinic - when you enter the cozy lobby, it doesn't smell like a vet clinic at all. The clinic is always clean, and the staff are friendly and caring. The comment regarding a language barrier is laughable - we have been going to Awesome Care for more than a year and have never experienced a language barrer with anyone there. Dr. Cowdrey does not speak any languages that we're aware of besides English, and Dr. Julie is bilingual and is able to assist both English- and Spanish-speaking patients. I just want to thank you, and let you know how pleased we are with the care our dogs have received when visiting your clinic! As a long time animal owner, I am very picky about where I take my animals for their health care. Each and every time we have been to your clinic, we have been greeted by a happy caring staffmember. They immediately make you feel right at home. I think it's wonderful that they do provide service in both English and Spanish, as Oklahoma has a large Hispanic population. The clinic is clean and sanitary, as are all the staff that I have come into contact with. When one of my dogs get sick, after visiting with Dr. Jaime Cowdrey, I always get a follow up phone call the very next day, to see how my dog is doing. My own "people" doctor doesn't even do that for me!! We have been part of a rescue organization for Husky and Alaskan Malamutes. Both doctors at this clinic were happy to work with us for these dogs, both on health, and pricing. We have had other vets in the past who may have been a tiny bit cheaper to go to, but let's face it, you get what you pay for. When my animals go to this clinic, I KNOW that they will receive the best of care, both medically, and compassionately. We would not even think of going to anyone else. I encourage both Dr. Julie, and Dr. Jaime to keep up the great work. It is such a relief to know that should my animals get sick or hurt, I can count on them to do everything in their power for them. I have been in other clinics in the Oklahoma City area and none compare to the warmth and comfort Awesome Care provides.Prior to being employed at Awesome Care I had interviews at several other clinics, which were larger in size, but chose to work here. I immediately loved the employees and doctors and the cleanliness of the place. I wasn't put off by odors, or dirt and dust because there weren't any. All of the staff were cheery and welcoming and made you feel like you had been coming there for years, and I had just came in to fill out an application. I pride myself in making all of our customers, new, old and just people walking in to see the place; feel that exact same way. As an employee of many other vet hospitals, shelters and organizations, none have compared to the homeliness of Awesome Care. Other clinics are sterile feeling, but here at Awesome Care we provide the best care and treatment for any animal that walks in the door and still make the clients feel like they can be themselves and continue to come in and be treated the same way every time.
